This is the shooter of the killings at the school in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1998. He is 23 now, says he was on his way to California. Was pulled over in a car/van with another man, where they found pot (his), a 9mm pistol stuffed in his bag, a 20-gauge shotgun inside a camouflage bag. He acknowledged the guns were his. When he and his friend got out of prison, this is what he got as a gift that blows my mind: (quoted from article)

He received a silver 9 mm Lorein pistol as a present and practiced "target shooting" near the city.

Its like giving an arsonist matches and gasoline! This now young adult is a serious crime waiting to happen. I would think as a part of his probabtion, he would not be allowed to have any weapons and when caught, that could get him back to prison automatically. How long will it be before he kids anymore people? His life after gettting out of prison doesn't sound like he trying to better himself.

OH, MY GOSH!!!!!! Like this couldn't have been predicted? Sheesh! Did these kids get any kind of treatment? And who the heck gave this guy a freakin' gun for a "getting out of prison" gift??? This is just another example of where our justice system fails. He kills 5 people and then gets out to screw up again. This guy was twisted at 13. He shouldn't have had an opportunity to live a free life again...his 5 victims didn't.

IIRc, the teacher that was shot, was pregnant at the time and used her body to shield her students.

I just read the article at the link. Sheeesh. They lock up 12 year olds for life for killing one person, and these two get out at 21.

Ticking time bomb for sure, and who, in their right mind, would give him a gun????

I am not suprised at hearing that Micheal Johnson did this at all.Unfortunately the STATE OF ARK.did not have laws in place. So the 2 boys got a slap on the wrist. Well now he's 23 an adult.
Just recently Bill KURTIS" AMERICAN JUSTICE/INVESTIGATIVE REPORTS featured their program about the school shootings.
Again we go back to the begining, and who is to blame. The BOYS" families.
They had the intention to kill MURDERED and wounded.
He had his chance to do a 180 and fly right;but again,he made very stupid choices;but now he is an adult.

I live in Arkansas, and I along with many, many people here was appalled that these two boys got off as easily as they did. This one NEVER showed any remorse for what he had done, not to mention there were plenty of signs that he needed help! This latest IIRC can get him put away for a good while.

It's obvious this one will always be in some kind of trouble!

Hi NavyMom58
First let me say Hello and welcome. This problem is all do to lack of good parenting, lax laws on a STATE wide level and the SLICK fast talking of DEFENSE ATTORNEYS.
Another case that is just as herendous,is the Kelly brothers;who murdered their father, while he was asleep with a baseball bat;then set the house on fire.
THis was a 1st degree MURDER ONE case;but your SLICK fast talking defense attorneys got the charge reduced to a 3rd degree murder; inspite of the confessions of the Kelly brothers;who gave the police a very detailed description of the murder.
So these 2 'BRATS' are doing a light slap on the wrist sentence,in 'juvi' and will be out by age 21.
Defense attorneys will go overboard to get 'the reasonable doubt' thought rattleing around in a juror's head,to either deadlock a jury or say not guilty.
My own opinon,is that the defense attorney, knows that their client is GUILTY,but really is more concerned about making a 'name for themselves' rather than justice. Many times their egos back fire and they are left with'egg on their face'
In both of these two cases, there were signs,'red flags' what ever you want to call them and people ignored them untill it is just to late= someone must die.
Nice meeting you, again welcome to our family Boscorelli
