EXCERPT

NEW YORK , Jan. 28 (UPI) -- U.S. book publisher Judith Regan has settled her $100 million defamation lawsuit against News Corp., it was reported Monday.

Regan and News Corp. issued a statement to The New York Times describing the deal as an "equitable, confidential settlement, with no admission of liability by any party."

Regan was fired from HarperCollins, which is owned by News Corp., after the company opted not to release O.J. Simpson's controversial, hypothetical murder memoir "If I Did It."

In her lawsuit, Regan alleged News Corp., HarperCollins and Jane Friedman, head of the publishing house, launched a "malicious assault on her character and reputation."

She also insisted in court papers the notion she was let go for making an anti-Semitic comment was "completely fabricated."

In the joint statement regarding the settlement, News Corp. acknowledged, "After carefully considering the matter, we accept Ms. Regan's position that she did not say anything that was anti-Semitic in nature, and further believe that Ms. Regan is not anti-Semitic."

Regan declined to comment when contacted by phone by the Times.

After the Goldman's got the rights to the book I bought and read it. OJ did it. He described the murder in the book. I wasn't surprised.

I watched the Dr. Phil show when he had this author on. This is the most arrogant move of OJ yet.

You can check it out here.

No doubt this was a confession. At one point OJ tells this author, if Nicole didn't come to the door with a knife in her hand, she'd probably still be alive.

I could never bring myself to read it. It was his final slap at the victims, their families, and the judicial system that let him walk free.

I refused to buy it when OJ retained the rights but when the Goldman's won the rights and the money was going to victims of abuse I thought why not?

It was a confession. He did it. This book showed his true self and arrogance.

I wonder how many knives she had then since one was found out on her counter after the murders. Interesting

I don't believe she walked outside with a knife. She was eating ice cream and who eats that with a knife? She ran a tub full of water and had candle's lit all over. IMO she was getting ready for either bed or a romantic interlude.

Wasn't there ice cream found on a railing or ledge in the back maybe leading to the garage, as if someone left it unfinished and took off?

There was ice cream on the railing melting when the police arrived there. To me that was important. How long does it take for ice cream to melt in June? It wasn't completely melted was it? So that could have put a better time on the crime???

Their scenario [cops] was Nicole was eating ice cream when OJ showed up. Now don't get me wrong, I believe he did it. This case has intrigued me for years, therefore the questions.

Exactly the ice cream was not fully melted and weren't there some coins on the floor in the garage. Did someone run out through that garage? I didn't buy the prosecutions's timeline.

Not sure about the coins. Don't recall that. Sorry.

If I see the book at a yardsale or somewhere for fifty cents or so I'll buy it and read it. But I'm not paying good money to read something that came from that murderer's mouth no matter who the proceeds utimately go to. :lex_10:

yes, there was unmelted ice cream in a cup from the ice cream place they went to after dinner (was it baskin robbins?) It sat on the stairs leading to the garage I think. (could have been Ben and Jerry's) I can't recall that detail.

There was a knife on the counter, a big knife. There were also pictures that showed TWO coffee mugs on the counter. That always intrigued me. Was there someone there that night that she served a beverage to?

I used to have an encyclopedic knowledge of this case. It bugs me that the years has dimmed much of that.

There's always the library.

I personally had no beef about this one. If the Goldman's got the proceeds... cool.

They were supposed to receive a lot of things but never did so how do we know they'd receive this?

I do recall something about the coins. But I can't remember if they were in the garage or out in the alley.

I would imagine I believed it because a court of law took the rights from O.J. and gave them to the Goldmans. Heck, they even had a forward in the book.

Found this and kind of interesting.

"In one of Fuhrman's notes he identifies a bloody fingerprint in brass (bronze) that wasn't documented and in another he speculates that the dog bit the killer. He says that O.J. dropped coins (twenty two cents) on Nicole's driveway near a drop of O.J.'s blood by the rear gate and a blood trail on his own "brick" driveway leading to the front door of his house."

Aaah yes, the fingerprint on the rear gate documented by Fuhrman but never collected by any! IIRC, when asked about this, MF replied that he's collected many and had ten of his own. He knew a fingerprint when he saw one.

I don't recall his saying the dog bit anyone but I always thought that dog had to have known the killer. Good Lord! Have you ever seen an Akita in person? I saw two of them recently at the vets and... :71526: They're enormous!

As for the murders, Simpson describes a chilling scene:

I looked over at Goldman, and I was fuming. I guess he thought I was going to hit him, because he got into his little karate stance. "What the **** is that?" I said. "You think you can take me with your karate shit?" He started circling me, bobbing and weaving, and if I hadn't been so ****ing angry I would have laughed in his face. "O.J., come on!" It was Charlie again, pleading. Nicole moaned, regaining consciousness. She stirred on the ground and opened her eyes and looked at me, but it didn't seem like anything was registering. Charlie walked over and planted himself in front of me blocking my view. "We are ****ing done here, man-let's go!"

I noticed the knife in Charlie's hand, and in one deft move I removed my right glove and snatched it up. "We're not going anywhere," I said, turning to face Goldman. Goldman was still circling me, bobbing and weaving, but I didn't feel like laughing anymore. "You think you're tough, mother****er?" I said. I could hear Charlie just behind me, saying something, urging me to get the **** out of there, and at one point he even reached for me and tried to drag me away, but I shook him off, hard, and moved toward Goldman. "Okay, mother****er!" I said. "Show me how tough you are!"

Then something went horribly wrong, and I know what happened, but I can't tell you exactly how. I was still standing in Nicole's courtyard, of course, but for a few moments I couldn't remember how I'd gotten there, when I'd arrived, or even why I was there. Then it came back to me, very slowly: The recital-with little Sydney up on stage, dancing her little heart out; me, chipping balls into my neighbor's yard; Paula, angry, not answering her phone; Charlie, stopping by the house to tell me some more ugly shit about Nicole's behavior. Then what? The short, quick drive from Rockingham to the Bundy condo. And now?

Now I was standing in Nicole's courtyard, in the dark, listening to the loud, rhythmic, accelerated beating of my own heart. I put my left hand to my heart and my shirt felt strangely wet. I looked down at myself. For several moments, I couldn't get my mind around what I was seeing. The whole front of me was covered in blood, but it didn't compute. Is this really blood? I wondered. And whose blood is it? Is it mine? Am I hurt?

Being a "hottie" is the least of his concerns.

I agree.

Although I didn't really like Barry Scheck or Johnnie Cochran. Just my own personal opinions as well. :groan: Please, if I get started no one will be able to shut me up! :blondblush113268230

No one wants that to happen. Trust me on this one. :boredom:
