I'm not sure, but believe tonight is the first episode of Deadly Women. The underlying theme of tonights show, and its title, is that some are 'Born Bad' and when opportunity presents itself they will become deadly.
Is anyone else watching or following this interesting new series?

Yes, I watched it too, but fell asleep. Seems some are just born evil, Lite. What that woman did to the child she was taking care of for that carnival worker was awful. I'm glad the sister got out of there and told everything. She is now doing life....:45024:

I should have paid closer attention to this woman's name. I wanted to find it on line...anyway...
This particular show was a single woman with 7 children. She would iron people's clothes for extra money. One day she bring two girls home, Sylvia and I don't remember the other name of her sister. Her father was a carnival worker and agreed to watch the siblings for $20 a week. When the money did not come to her in the mail on time, she would sadisticly beat these two girls raw. Sylvia seems to have gotten the brunt of this woman's sadistic, evil side until I guess she beat her to death...this is when I fell asleep :girl_haha: I did wake up to hear the police knocking on the door, asking what's going on in here. She said take me out of here and I'll tell you everying. Next I heard she was sentenced to life...I've been trying to find it online.

A Young, Tortured Girl is Dead
On October 26, 1965, Indianapolis police answered a call saying that a girl had died. The call came from a pay telephone in front of a Shell station in a poor section of the city. The caller was a teenaged boy whose voice had not finished changing into that of an adult man. He sounded very nervous and directed the police to the address, 3850 East New York Street, at which they would find the dead female.
When the cops got to the dingy, rundown, clapboard home to which the anonymous caller had directed them, they found the emaciated dead body of 16-year-old Sylvia Marie Likens. She was covered with bruises and small wounds, later revealed to be cigarette and match burns that numbered over 100. There were also large areas where the outer layer of skin had peeled off. Likens also had a large letter "3" branded on her chest. However, the most remarkable injuries, by far, were the words in block letters that had been burned directly onto her stomach: "I'M A PROSTITUTE AND PROUD OF IT!"

Sylvia was the victim of Gertrude Baniszewski.
Gertrude enlisted other children who lived in the house (6) and neighborhood children to torture Sylvia. Several of the children were sent to reform school for their part in the death of Sylvia.
Another interesting fact was the self portrait Gertrude was asked to draw. In it, she drew a woman with long claw like fingers. This was discussed by experts and determined to be her vision of the evil inside her.

I saw that too Lite.
Her fingers looked like claws, like a bear's claw..long and sharp.
I was trying to find it online but can't locate one.
I did find they had a movie out about her.

Baniszewski appealed, was granted a new trial, and was again found guilty, though this time she was sentenced to 18 years to life. Over the course of the next 18 years, Baniszewski became a model prisoner, working in the sewing shop and becoming a den-mother to younger female inmates; by the time she came up for parole in 1985, she was known by the prison nickname "Mom."
The news of Baniszewski's parole hearing sent shockwaves through the Indiana community. Jenny Likens and her family appeared on television to speak out against Baniszewski; the members of two anti-crime groups, Protect the Innocent and Society's League Against Molestation, travelled to Indiana to oppose her parole and support the Likens family, beginning a sidewalk picket campaign. Over the course of two months, the groups collected 4,500 signatures from the citizens of Indiana demanding that Baniszewski be kept behind bars. Despite the efforts, Baniszewski was granted parole. During the hearing, she stated: "I'm not sure what role I had in it ... because I was on drugs. I never really knew her ... I take full responsibility for whatever happened to Sylvia."
Baniszewski walked out of prison on December 4, 1985, and traveled to Iowa (http://www.answers.com/topic/iowa). She died in Iowa from lung cancer (http://www.answers.com/topic/lung-cancer) on June 16, 1990, aged 60.

Seems to me that statement is somewhat self serving and cold hearted, IMO. She's not sure what role she had in it. She really never knew Sylvia. I take full responsbility for WHATEVER happended to her??? What the heck is that? Is this unfeeling statement that lead to her release?
Either you had a role in it or didn't, you knew Sylvia for you took care of her and it was YOUR full and total responsiblily of her abuse and eventual death, even as you enlisted the help of your children and your childrens' friends..:duh:

She enjoyed what she did, she enjoyed employing the help of her children and others, she, if there is a HELL is flame dancing, hopefully having something carved into her belly.
Reading over at Crime Library, one of the 'kids' that helped died of cancer, rather young, and another, it seems finally admitted how horrible this crime was and is speaking out to young people.

Mary Bell...I watched that one before.
I just never realized a young girl can be so evil at 10...what she did to that toddler was grotesque and unforgivable...he wasn't the only child she killed...this is one evil, narcisistic child...thankfully, she was prosecuted...I do believe she is now married with children of her own...scary thought..
"Mary has made herself into two people for her own sake."
-- Marys probation officer
Mary Bell was released May 14, 1980, and stayed in Suffolk. Her first job was in the local childrens nursery, but the probation officers deemed this inappropriate work for her. She took waitress jobs, and attended a university, but was too discouraged to stick with it. After moving back in with her mother, she met a young man and became pregnant. There was great concern over whether the woman who had murdered two children should be able to become a mother herself, yet she fought for the right to keep her child, which was born in 1984.
Mary claims to have a new awareness of her crimes from the birth of her child. She was allowed to keep the child, who was technically a ward of the court until 1992. "If there was something wrong with me when I was a child, there wasnt now. I felt that if they could X-ray me inside, they could see that anything broken had been fixed," she insisted.
Somehow, Mary Bell had made a transition, without appropriate psychiatric treatment, from a child killer to a loving mother. Her years in reform school and prison yielded sexual abuse and drug addiction, yet she claims to have a new moral consciousness and deep sorrow for her crimes. Could this be possible? Can we believe, as Gitta Sereny wrote, in the "possibility of metamorphosis"? Mary Bell had become, for the author, "two people -- the child and the adult."
She eventually met a man and fell in love, then settled in a small town. But the probation officer had to inform the local authorities of her presence, and soon the villagers were marching through the street with "Murderer Out!" signs. She lived in constant fear of being exposed.

Hi LLL,
Thanks for the info on Mary Bell. Because she murdered the boys a year apart IMO she shows a propensity to murder male children. I would never trust her.
Isn't it odd that we list sexual predators locations in an effort to promote awareness, but we do not list child murderers?

No, I was not referring to this board, but was referring to the national registry of sex offenders. If we have that available to provide the locations of sex offenders, then why not include child murderers too? The only time a child murderer makes that list is if they are convicted of a sex offense against a child, murderer the child, and were released.
If we (the people of the USA) are interested in providing information about sexual predators so that one can take precautions if one (of them) is living in ones own neighborhood, then does it not make sense to provide information on murderers too?
