Sounds like a typical Nigerian Scam to me. I urged my friend to forward the original message to a Spam fighter and to FedEX.

Oh those scammers come up with a new one every day.

I just foward them to abuse@ whoever they suggest it's from, like micosoft, banco popular or whoever.

I am to a point where I just don't read them. I always wondered how they get an email addy.

I received on of those a couple of weeks ago. However, I have finally learned to recognize most of these type emails before I open them so I delete them.

A couple of years ago I got really tired of getting those emails claiming to be some poor abused soul trying to get the family inheritance out of Nigeria and escape the abuse. I sat down one day and sent a reply to the email addy. I simply explained that I did in fact have a relative in the upper levels of the CIA and that I had sent all the revelant info to that person and asked him to intervene. I explained that the CIA would contact the emailer ASAP concerning the abuse and that the emailer should not be alarmed if they received an unannounced visitor in the wee hours of the morning. I also relayed that my relative explained that although he would try to keep it under wraps there might be a need to reveal the plan to someone within the Nigerian govt so that we would not be viewed as being hostile toward the Nigerian govt. I sent along a phone number for the CIA that I'd found on the net and a fake "password" for the emailer to give if there was an emergency and they needed to call.

I haven't gotten another Nigerian scam email since. I've gotten others...but not that type. I can't figure out why? :0009::rolleye0001:

I've received a bunch from "US Soldiers" at my work address. One had a name close to one of the guys I know... I forward them onto the State National Guard Family Program because that's all I have info on.

It's sad that people are using Soldiers to scam money from people who want to help.
Just remember that if they're sending you money they shouldn't be asking for money.

I'll try and remember to contact our group and get an universal name and email to send this type of emails too - the military doesn't need this going around.
