PAXTON, IL.

Two women who vanished nearly a decade apart may be linked together. There are several similarities in the two disappearances, and police say the same man is considered a person of interest in both cases.
On the evening of March 9, 2007, Jamie Harper, 20, left her mother's house with a male companion and traveled to a party in Rantoul. She left the party the following morning, and no one has seen her since. Jamie's mother, Susan Kehrer, reported her missing the following week.

"Her friend was supposed to bring her home the day after the party, but he never did," Susan said in a telephone interview with Crime Library yesterday afternoon. "I waited to report her missing because there were times in the past where she stayed out for a couple days."

Susan was reluctant to give any further details about her daughter's case, for fear of saying something that could jeopardize the investigation. Before she hung up, she had this to say: "I don't think I should say anything else without talking to the police. I am still hoping she ran off."

Not long after her disappearance, police received a tip from an anonymous caller that Jamie had overdosed, and her body had been disposed of in an area southeast of Paxton known as Dogtown. The location is well known to veteran investigators. It has been the site of numerous missing persons searches over the years and, in 1984, they discovered the body of Cindy Mizell, 24, in the woods surrounding Dogtown. Her former husband, Kenneth Mizell, then 27, and his wife, Diana, 30, were later convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. For their crimes, they were sentenced to six years in prison.

The search for Jamie began at Dogtown on March 18. The Paxton Police Department, Ford County Sheriff's Department, Gibson City Fire Department, Gibson City Police Department, Paxton Fire Department, Douglas County Search & Rescue, and officers from the Department of Conservation & Law Enforcement and the Division of Fisheries all participated in the three-day search.

"Dogtown contains three gravel pits," Paxton Police Chief Robert G. Bane said in a telephone interview with Crime Library yesterday. "One is active and two are old and unused. There are waterways out there and a lot of wooded area. On the first day, we conducted a massive ground search by foot and with the use of all-terrain vehicles. There were 42 officers and volunteers on the scene."
http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics/photos/news/original/0407/jamie_harper/Paxtom-Illinois-map200.jpgPaxtom Illinois Map

Over the course of the next two days, cadaver-sniffing dogs were brought in to assist in the search, and officers from the Department of Conservation & Law Enforcement and the Division of Fisheries deployed sonar-equipped boats to examine the bottom of the ponds.

"We ran the bottom of the pits with sonar and the dogs on top of the water. Then Hummingbird [a manufacturer of sport fishing depth finders] had a professional fisherman come up to assist us, who is an expert on the sonar. They searched the water with assistance from Vermillion County Search and Rescue. They also ran cameras into the pits, searching areas of interest. They found a couple of old boats, but nothing of interest to the case," Chief Bane explained.

Chief Bane admitted that he is concerned about foul play in Jamie's disappearance, but he stopped short of naming her date as a suspect. In regards to that question, he had "no comment." Again, when asked if she had left the party with her date, he had no comment.

"He was interviewed, but I cannot comment on him past that," Chief Bane said. "The Rantoul Police Department conducted search warrants on different types of things on vehicles and houses. People who were at the party and things like that. We also did a ground search from the location of the party, north through some fields, but nothing was found."
According to Chief Bane, there are similarities between Jamie's disappearance and that of another young woman who vanished without a trace nearly a decade ago.

According to police, Jamie stands 5 feet tall and weighs about 130 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She has a nose ring and a tribal design tattoo on the small of her back.

Anyone with information in the disappearance of Jamie Harper is asked to call the Paxton Police Department at (217) 379-4315 or the Rantoul Police Department at (217) 892-2103.

RANTOUL - Investigators are checking leads in the search for a missing woman. They hope one of those tips will solve the case of Jamie Harper. Harper is from Paxton, but was last seen at a party in Rantoul during the early morning hours of March 10th. The party was in the 1300-block of Laurel Drive. In recent weeks, police have launched a massive search for Harper after getting a tip. They've searched rural ponds in Ford County, even the Dogtown Pits. Justin Bouse from the Rantoul Police Department says, "We've receiving numerous leads. Some say Jamie is safe and doesn't want to be found. We're also receiving leads that say foul play is involved." Bouse says investigators are looking at every lead and the search for Harper has gone national. Her name is now listed on a national database for missing people and police have checked with the National Crime Information Center and even Court TV has done a story. Harper has been missing for more than two months. If you have any information on her whereabouts, call Champaign County Crimestoppers at 373-TIPS. You don't have to give your name or testify in court and a reward is offered.

"I don't care who you are," said Roz Anderson. "They all deserve the same amount of treatment." Anderson says she's fed up after a national search team steps in to recover a missing mother from Sadorus and still no word on Jamie Harper. "Nobody's heard anything," she said. Those who worked with Harper at the IGA store in Paxton say they're doing their part to help by posting signs throughout town. "People are still on the lookout," said Linda Glad. "There's been a few spottings, but I don't think those have really amounted to anything." Anderson agrees. "When she first went missing it was a big deal, but then it just kind of went away," she said. So much so some people fear Harper's been forgotten. "I work here," said Anderson. "I'm here 6, 7 days a week and I haven't even heard her name cross the restaurant in a few months." Police say that's not the case. Finding Harper is a top priority and they have the manpower on hand to prove so. Sergeant Jeff Wooten says his department has used ATVs, state police, airplanes, radar systems and dogs to help. Despite the efforts, some people say that's not enough. Many wish a group like Texas EquuSearch would come to their town. "Anything that would help find this girl because she was a really nice girl," said Glad. So could it happen? "Anything possible," said Wooten.

SEARCH FOR MISSING PAXTON WOMAN

Investigators are remaining remarkably tight-lipped, but they are saying the received new information about the Jamie Harper.

Rantoul's Police Chief says they're looking for trace evidence.

He says that could be a body or clothing among other things, but he wouldn't say whether police have found anything.

Their search is centralized on the West side of Route 49, just North of Route 136 in Vermilion County.

Rantoul Police are being assisted by Paxton Police and the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department.

http://illinoishomepage.net/media/gif/JamieHarperMUGlarge.gifRantoul police are investigating a possible lead in the search for a missing Paxton woman. Twenty-year-old Jamie Harper disappeared back in march. Police say a tip lead them to an abandoned garage along Highway 49 in Vermilion County. Several officers and search crews from Rantoul were out Wednesday searching the area around the garage with shovels, sifting through the dirt. Rantoul Police Chief Paul Farber says Wednesday's search turned up nothing. He says he is unsure whether officers will return for another search of the area. There have been several leads and tips in the past leading to searches around ford and Champaign County in rural ponds and the gravel pits near Paxton.

http://illinoishomepage.net/media/gif/JamieHarperMUGlarge.gif(PAXTON)---A new search renews hope the family and friends of Jamie Harper can finally get some answers. Harper disappeared after a party in Rantoul back in early March. Wednesday police acted on a new tip in the case by digging around an old barn near Armstrong in Vermilion County. Police say they didn't find anything, but it did get neighbors in Paxton talking about the case again. "I hope they do find her so her mom can have closure." Says former I.G.A. co-worker Terrie Miller "When I talked to (Jamie's mom) at the store she had said that until they find Jamie's body, to her she is still alive, so she either needs closure one way or the other." Brooke Martin agrees. She met Harper just about a week before she disappeared. "She seemed really nice and I thought I'd become friends with her." She says "And I have no idea what happened to her, kind of makes me want to know what happened." Wednesday's search was one of the bigger one's they've done since checking the gravel pits outside Paxton just weeks after Harper’s disappearance.

Harper Search Accelerates

Reported by: Jenny Gastwirth WCIA 3

Thursday, Oct 18, 2007 @05:24pm CST

20 year-old Jamie Harper was last seen in March at a house party in Rantoul. After Wednesday's search, many people are now asking, what's developed? While police are tight-lipped about they've found, they do say progress is being made, especially after they combed through a field on route 49 near Armstrong. A tip led them there. That was one of the bigger searches police have done since checking gravel pits outside Paxton months ago. Now they say they may be on to something. "We never put out that nothing was ever found," said Chief Paul Farber. "Indeed we did take some things from there, but I'm not going to specify what we did take." Of course this case is still an ongoing investigation so specific details can't be released. FBI has said Harper will be featured on the CBS show "Without a Trace" next Thursday. It features a missing person at the end of each episode. The CBS "Early Show" will do a follow up to that story the following morning.

Agencies look for missing woman at Vermilion site

ARMSTRONG – Several law enforcement agencies searched a rural Vermilion County location Wednesday in connection with missing woman Jamie Harper.

Sgt. Jeff Wooten of the Rantoul Police Department said authorities searched a property for about eight hours where U.S. 136 and Illinois 49 run together.

"We've had some tips that there may have been evidence on that property detailing what may have happened to Jamie Harper," Wooten said. He declined to comment about whether authorities found any evidence, but said they did not find a body. Wooten would not say who owns the property.

Harper, 20, of Paxton was last seen at a party in Rantoul in the early morning hours of March 10. She was reported missing later that month. In the spring, Rantoul police searched fields north of Rantoul and in Dogtown, an area between Paxton and Rantoul.

Wooten would not say if the search at the property will continue.

About 25 officers and investigators from the Rantoul and Paxton police departments, Vermilion and Champaign County sheriff's offices, and the Illinois State Police assisted in the search, Wooten said. They also used dogs.

"It's not a huge piece of property but there are some nearby waterways," Wooten said. "A lot of areas were searched in that general vicinity."

Those include buildings on the land, which Wooten said consisted of about three-quarters of an acre, Wooten said. Police also searched roadside ditches, a wooded area and the banks of the Middle Fork River nearby.

Wooten said he doesn't expect to call in any outside search teams, such as Equu-Search. The Texas-based firm assisted in finding the remains of missing Naomi Arnette south of Sadorus earlier this fall.

"The areas that we've wanted to search or had any information that needed to be searched have been searched," Wooten said, "and done very thoroughly."

Paxton Police Chief Bob Bane confirmed that his department assisted Rantoul police Wednesday.

Wooten said he's been working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the last few weeks on Harper's case and succeeded in getting the FBI to put her on its Web site.

For more information, go to www.FBI.gov (http://www.fbi.gov/) and click on missing persons and kidnappings.

He said Harper's case is also expected to be featured at the end of the CBS show "Without a Trace" later this month.

Anyone with information about Harper can call Rantoul Police at 892-2103 or Ford County Crimestoppers at 784-4173. Crimestoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Harper stands 5 feet tall, weighs about 130 pounds, has brown hair and eyes, has a tattoo on the small of her back and a nose ring in her left nostril. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white jacket, sandals and carrying a black handbag.

News-Gazette staff writer Mary Schenk and Paxton Record editor Will Brumleve also contributed to this story.

Jeremy (Jeromy) Ramm is an apparent POI in both Heather Zimmerman's and Jamie Harper's cases. I researched his wife:

I found Anastasia Ramm had 3 PO's taken out on Jeremy Ramm (some are under Jeromy). She received the first emergency PO then had it vacated as well as the other ones.

If you look up Anastasia you'll see she has two forcible entry convictions. One of those plaintiff's was William Ramm. Several traffic charges as well: no insurance on vehicle, speeding and minor no seatbelt charge.

As far as Jeromy Ramm the posts are grande's so I cannot move those.

It has been brought to my attention forcible entry means 'eviction' in Illinois. How odd! :0009:

Can anyone tell me who lives or lived on this property where the police were searching, or of what significance was it to the search efforts?

I'm trying to do a triangulation of the areas of interest were to the disappearance of Jamie.

I just re read an article that says that the property was searched, and that nothing significant was located there, and if there were police aren't saying just what they were. Obviously Jamie wasn't.

Still I'm puzzled as to what the significance of this property is to the investigation.

I have done a triangulation of the area where Jamie was last seen, and that property, I can post a map here of what I found. My circled area overlaps in the area of Gifford.

The property is alleged to be owned by Jeromy Ramm's father William. Jeromy is a person of interest in both Jamie's disappearance and Heather Dawn Zimmerman's imo. He is currently in IDOC.

Ok, let me explain what it was that I did there. I was working on a case of a missing girl from Grand Forks, ND back in 2003. A geographic profiler, Dr. Godwin was explaining to me how to do a series of circling of places where the missing person was last seen, anywhere that any articles of clothing or personal items of the missing person was located, etc. We, he and I did exactly what I've done there for you.

In that senario we had cell towers that picked up Dru Sjodin's cell phone signal which lasted for approx. 24 hours before it died. When we did these circles the place where they overlapped was an area where we felt was the most important place to be searched, for her, her remains or of something that was of a high interest in the case. As it turned out Dru's body was found very close to where we had marked the circled area. If we had had the information that the level three sex offender had lived on a farm on the exact area where our circles came together, we could have pinpointed where Dru could be found with much more accuracy.

In this case with Jamie, those circle overlapped in an area where this man lived, and I didn't know that. Now that I do know it, I'm going to also do another circled area, but what I need to know is, of what significance is that abandoned garage, who owns it, why did LE search that area?

Please advise, and I'll attempt to get to a closer area of interest for another search.

I'm hoping that this next map will tell you something, since I don't know who owned that abandoned garage property, I'm just going to assume that it had something to do with the name that you mentioned. The area that needs to be throughly searched is within the blue marked areas, in both maps. Only you know where is in that area.

Wanted to post another map. I wiped off my computer the other day and haven't taken the time to put my screenshot program back on, so I'm going to link you to it.

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=40.378901~-87.94663&style=a&lvl=15&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&encType=1

This area is at the very top of the diamond that Annie posted for us. If you look at her map, you'll see at the top where 3 river branches come off. My map is an upclose of the area. It's a forrest perserve sort of thing. There are 3 small ponds there, it's a campground. There are some hiking trails and no hunting allowed (IIRC) and TONS of wooded area and tall tall grass that's never mowed (for the sake of the animals)

If you come down 136 and turn north at the Penfield road, it'll take you right there. Or... coming from the garage, go north 2 roads, turn left, go to the first stop sign and turn left. Takes about 5 minutes from the garage- at my driving speed anyways.

Lots of different names have come up in the search for Jamie. I can't hardly keep track of them all. Does the name Mercado sound familiar? I saw that name the other day in Stacy Peterson's forum and I SWEAR I've heard it before and for some reason I was thinking it was from Jamie's forum. Is this making lights go off in anyone else's head??

Families, friends try to fill void after disappearances
By Meg Thilmony
Monday, November 26, 2007 12:43 PM CDT

Jamie Harper. Penny Lease. Kimberly Thompson. Theresa Wallace. Heather Zimmerman.

Five vastly different women with one common characteristic: They're all missing.

Thompson, since 1986. Harper, since March of this year.

Each woman has a story, a family.

Someone who's hurting because she hasn't come home.

It's a mix of frustration and hope, family members say. Of not knowing. Of wanting to believe she'll turn up somewhere, someday, somehow.

Their pictures never change, despite the fleeting years.

Investigators never close their files. They, too, hope the right snippet of information will eventually emerge.

Ann and Ron Mullins, Heather Mullins Zimmerman's parents, are always willing to talk about it, 10 years later. Even when it's hard. Even though Ron Mullins remembers that he never actually saw his daughter leave that rainy Memorial Day Monday night. He and his wife weren't too concerned when she didn't come home right away. She'd been married and out on her own; she did that sometimes.

Angie Risley, Theresa Wallace's sister, doesn't talk about her big sister much, 17 years later. Wallace's is just one link in a stretching chain of familial heartbreak. Risley doubts she'll ever see her sister again, but she still hopes someone knows something.

And in the case of Jamie Harper, the 20-year-old last seen in Rantoul in March, Sgt. Jeff Wooten of the Rantoul Police Department is still looking into whether Harper simply left town, searching for a new life, or if she's the victim of foul play.

"We're still exploring all avenues," Wooten said.

Taking the case

That's the way adult missing-persons cases are handled, said Lt. Ed Ogle, head of the Champaign County sheriff's office's investigations division. Someone could be missing because she wanted to start a new life elsewhere. Or she could be a victim of foul play.

"You've got to jump on it and got to work it as quick as you can," Ogle said.

Investigators start seeking answers within the missing person's circle of close acquaintances. If someone decides to start a new life, she usually tells someone.

Investigators try to determine the person's day-to-day routine, Ogle said, to map out her normal activities. They review surveillance cameras at the person's usual gas station, bank and stores. The average person is often caught on videos at such places, Ogle said.

Investigators also try to track someone using credit cards or cell phones. Or if the person uses her social security number to get a job. In one case, Ogle said, a woman who'd been reported missing used an area employer as a reference. When a new employer called, investigators discovered her location.

But with the passage of time, it becomes more likely that a missing person didn't just run away, said Investigator Shane Cook, who worked for months on the disappearance of Naomi Arnette. Searchers found the mother of seven's body buried in a shallow grave south of Sadorus at the end of September. She'd been missing since May.

Red flags go up on such cases, Ogle said, such as someone not picking up a paycheck or leaving behind children she deeply loves, actions that aren't within her normal way of doing business.

When they suspect a person is not missing by choice, investigators start looking at why.

It could be because they were injured or incapacitated. Or it could be foul play.

That's when investigators start thinking: Who or what is responsible? How could someone hide a missing person? Who would have a motive?

The long wait

Angie Risley has waited for answers for 17 years. Ann and Ron Mullins have been waiting 10 years.

Other women have been missing longer, including Thompson and Penny Lease, since 1989.

But even after 10 years or almost 20, investigators still believe the answers about these women are out there.

John Schweighart Sr. was a sergeant at the Champaign Police Department when Lease disappeared. He worked the case until he retired 10 years ago, and he knows other investigators have looked at it since.

"There's little doubt in my mind that somebody has some good information on this case," Schweighart said. He's pretty sure at least one person in Rantoul knows something.

"It's still a case that will someday, maybe, come to a conclusion," Schweighart said. "You never know."

Troy Daniels, deputy chief at the Champaign Police Department, has the same opinion about Thompson's case – someone knows something.

"I believe what they know bothers them to this day," he said.

Cook said one common factor in many missing women's cases is relationship problems. Women may be more likely to stay in a troubled relationship, Cook said, while a man may just walk away.

Or it could be because, statistically, women are at greater risk for serious domestic violence and sexual assault, Daniels said. Anyone is at risk, Daniels said, but certain lifestyles can also increase the chances of abduction.

Daniels said other detectives have looked into the Thompson and Lease cases, including Schweighart's son, Sgt. John Schweighart Jr.

The Mullinses, too, believe that they'll someday learn what happened to their daughter. They still hear rumors and communicate with the Champaign County sheriff's office about the case.

Their hearts went out to Susan Kehrer when her daughter, 20-year-old Jamie Harper, went missing in March. Kehrer also declined to comment for this story.

In both cases, investigators searched gravel pits in Dogtown, an area between Paxton and Rantoul, for the women. In both cases, nothing definite was ever discovered.

The worst, the Mullinses say, is not knowing. They feel for Kehrer. Because if Harper isn't found soon, they know her mom faces the worst kind of heartbreak. They've lived it.

Living without closure

Different families respond to their loved ones' disappearances in different ways. The Mullinses recognize "the look," the one acquaintances and neighbors give them. It appears when they realize the Mullinses' daughter is missing, but they're not sure if they should ask.

But Angie Risley rarely speaks of Wallace. When Wallace was 17, a car accident changed her personality dramatically. Risley was shocked, but not surprised, when her sister went missing. Anyone who approached Wallace as a friend could convince her to do anything.

Risley's buried herself in work as a hairstylist in the years since Wallace's disappearance. And she's worked especially hard to make life normal for her own children.

Still, though, Risley sometimes wonders, when seeing the back of a brunette's head, "Could that be Theresa?"

Marvin Lease, father of Penny Lease, had his daughter declared dead seven years after she disappeared. He declined to comment for this story but told The News-Gazette in 1996 that he thought about his daughter every day for the first three or four years after her disappearance.

And the family of Thompson, a prostitute who went missing in 1986, declined to be identified in a News-Gazette story in 1987.

But regardless of how families deal with their loss, investigators want to make sure the public doesn't forget them.

The Rantoul Police Department distributed posters with Harper's picture to businesses in the Rantoul and Paxton areas. Her big brown eyes and shy smile peer from business windows and bulletin boards.

Ogle said investigators know that media attention and other community involvement keep the memories of the women alive. This includes bringing them up on birthdays and anniversaries of their disappearances. The Mullinses recently dedicated a remembrance stone in Gifford's Roessler Memorial Park to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the last time they saw their daughter.

It gave them a spot to think of her. Someone placed flowers there on her 30th birthday on Oct. 17.

The rock, which they can see from their home on Gifford's south side, helps a little. But it's not the same as being able to find her, and if she's not alive, to lay her to rest.

They believe if they can do that, they may also be able to seek justice. To find out who tore their daughter from them and caused 10 years of worry, who changed the course of their lives forever.

Ron Mullins said his daughter's disappearance isn't a sign he wears around his neck, or something printed on a T-shirt.

But it's there.

"I don't think it'll ever go away," Ron Mullins said. "It's always there, way in the back."

We were going gangbusters on this case there for a few weeks. I always wonder how things would have gone if -let's say- they'd given the attention Stacy P has gotten to some of these forgotten cases. Sigh. Also I wonder if we'd get further if the family wanted it.

I was telling someone else the other day about following a car that I thought was really suspicious. But you know me, I'm suspicious of everything. :francis:

It was a decently warm day, had the car windows down, and this guy was in full blown "going to Alaska" wear with his coat hood tied really tight around his face like he was trying to hide. Then he'd slow down way before a turn and was going way under the speed limit like he just wanted to make absolutely sure he did nothing to get pulled over. Just made me go "hmmm"

Don't hold your breath on "anyone in authority" checking any maps or leads in this case. The only reason they even did any followup and searched the Ramm property was because there was a minor outcry locally that Naomi Arnette had been found on the 26th hour of a volunteer search by TES. I was at that seach and I can tell you exactly what Champaign County sheriff's people did there... stood close to their RV thing. Long story on that disappearance. Husband did it and cops did pretty much of nothing until her bones were found, and then they suddenly became cops again.

My opinion is that they would rather stop speeders. Maybe I am being jaded of course, but geez... 2 women missing from parties with some of the same guys in attendance and near the same trailer park location, and several connections... except 10 years apart.

Is there a reward fund set up to help motivate people to come forward with information? One big enough so that they can get the hell out of town too.

As usual I wonder what LE knows that they are keeping under wraps.
Like did they pull cell phone info (location type) for the people that were at the party and try to match that to statements made.. etc.. :duh:

But what do I know...

Hi, OldFart. I saw your comment and I wish they could come up with some incentive to get people to remember. Has anyone heard if anything came out after Nibbe's arrest?

Grande
04-01-2008, 06:35 PM
No sure haven't. His younger brother, Josh Nibbe, was dating Jamie at the time. He is still MIA so to speak. He has an active warrant out of Champaign. The other POI (Jeromy Ramm) is in DOC on unrelated charges. He is up for parole in December of 2009. Hopefully something will be done prior to that date so he isn't let back out. He is also the MAIN POI in the Heather Dawn Zimmerman.

Hi everyone,
This is O/T but I read this earlier at IS. When I first started looking at some of these missing girls cases, April Dawn was one of the girls linked to some of the missing. Anyway, not sure I should post it but I didn't see a thread for her.

"Montville Man Charged with Murder of Missing Girl

The Day, New London Ct.
Published on 4/1/2008

State police have charged a repeat sex offender with the murder of 15-year-old April Dawn Pennington, who disappeared from her Montville home in May 1996.

George Leniart, 42, of Montville, was arraigned today in New London Superior Court. He was charged with three counts of capital felony and one count of murder.

Judge Susan Handy set Leniart’s bond at $2 million based on his extensive criminal history. The arrest warrant detailing why Leniart was arrested was sealed for two weeks.
Leniart’s next court date is scheduled for April 15.

April's mother, Hazel Pennington, said police told her about the arrest this morning but could not provide details.

"I don't think the information has hit me yet," she said. "I would like to know more."
Mrs. Pennington, who now lives in North Carolina, said she has known for years that Leniart and a local teen-ager, Patrick J. "PJ" Allain picked up her daughter that night.

Leniart is currently incarcerated on charges he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old boy at his home on Massapeag Side Road last summer. He has a long history of sex crimes, including a conviction for raping a 13-year-old girl in 1996.

Detectives in the Eastern District Major Crime Squad had continued to investigate April Pennington's disappearance, suspecting Leniart murdered her but not able to charge him without recovering her body. New information came to light in the past year that enabled them to obtain an arrest warrant.

Pennington snuck out of her house on May 29, 1996 and was never seen again."

hello.

i didnt know jamie. i did know heather. i knew jeromy very well kenny mike etc... i was looking at your zoom in map thing that was posted very nice. i think a few areas were over looked that jeromy used to frequent in the middle of the night as i look at the map more ill hopefully make some post to possablly help out. if you go towards gifford about 1 mile outside rantoul take a right towards champaign and go down till u see a grey barn (if i rember right) just past that is a road that u should be able to take all the way to back to a creek.in the summer corn and weeds cover this and it looks like a tractor trail but u can get back there with a car. its hard to see from the road looks like nothing. jeromy used to take girls back there all the time. this may no t help at all. also there is a crawl space under jeromy mom and dads house (secret pass sort of) u cant find it if u just look for cause they have stuff pushed up next to it. it has a dirt bed there its about 4 foot high and u can get in there and he used to use that to hide stuff he stole. also as far as when they searched the resident out by armstrong they used to keep a tractor out there where hey could burry stuff very deep if needed. i dont know if the police no that jeromy had the ability to dig a hole and place a car or 2 over the spot.and then easily move the tractor away the next day or so. i dont want to get everyone in a uproar by postingthis but me and he were very good friends at one time, and it sickens me to see him getting away with both cases. hope this helps no gurantees i just thought i would post because i dont think they searched that well. they prolly looked under there noses and not gave jeromy credit for being a master criminal. he thinks things out very well (typical socail path) more presure needs to be put on kenny ciederhom about heather he has admitted him mike jeromy had something to do with heather but the police thinks he is crazy im gonna end my post with that these ARE ONLY OPINIONS

sear grande,

well its like this. bill has many people in the local government that are close friends and that tip him off. he has wirked for the city of rantoul for a long time. so we always new when the police were comming so to say back then. the family also looks after one another. and will protect each other under any circumstance. btw jason stevens is jeromys half brother if u didnt know. i kinda glanced threw some posts and people wondered who he is. i think u should get a list of all of jamie fomer friends and ask them where did they go when she hung out with jeromy. mainly the girls. see if jeromy ever took them to any isloted areas. he has so many. he knows the area very well. maybe possably comepare the lists and look in them areas if u can find them. knowing jeromy i doubt he would tip the police to where he put the missing person. but i do belive he would do that to throw them and change focus on the search. to kinda say i am smarter than you. if that makes sense. if u can get a list of the local gravel pits i would be happy to look at them and poss tell u if i have been to them with jeromy!!

Wow - A few things have happened since I last visited. Brad, you seem very insightful on the area and the POI's.

I wish I had the guts to go to the places you've described. I drove by the garage on route 49 a few times each week. That creeps me out to no end. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Jamie looking out of a window, or sitting in a car.

I would like to know when they did all of their car crushing. Is it possible that she was in one of those cars that they smashed and hauled away?

Does anyone know if any of the POI's families have animal farms? i.e. pigs or cows?

I caught this on the news
http://illinoishomepage.net/content/fulltext/?cid=73741

Rantoul Police are still working hard to find out what happened to Jamie Harper.

It’s been two years since the 20-year-old’s disappearance, when she was last seen leaving a party in Rantoul.

Since then there have been numerous searches trying to find her. Police are treating it like an abduction, but say they haven’t ruled anything out. They say it’s important to remember Harper and her family until there’s a break in the case.

“We keep our fingers crossed, keep ourselves remembering the case,” Rantoul Chief Police Paul Farber said, “and some prayer for that too that something will come through and somebody will step forward or something will come up that will open this case wide open." .

Police received their last tip a few weeks ago and will investigate every lead they get. They are just waiting for that one piece of information to bring Harper home. Short video clip there too.

I am very sorry I missed you last night. I got to looking at that website you sent to me, and realized that I knew Jamie, when she was like 14.. or so... That is just really wierd to me. I am not sure how much truth is in all the the rhumors that go around, but a girl that I go to school with says her boyfriends brother brags all the time cause he got away with murder. He claims to have killed someone in Rantoul a while back, and they found the body, but not the killer, and now he is sayin that he is the one who killed Jamie and dumped her in the pits in Paxton. Like I said, I dont know how much truth is in it, but the girl I go to school with said that when they checked the pits in Paxton that the water was really high, so he thinks they arent going to find the body. I am very uncomfrotable knowing that someone is even saying this stuff... and I dont at all want my name to come out in this.

<Snipped>

Thank you for understanding..Umm... I dont really know last names... but Jd is my classmates boyfriend, and his brothers name is Josh.. and I have heard also that Josh has been investigated for this cause he was at the same party, but he told police he passed out drunk, and when he woke up Jamie and some other guy was gone. So I am thinkin he is already a suspect. And My classmate says he thinks its so funny that he has been questioned cause he is gunna get away with it.Like I said before it sucks that I even know this. My heart and Prayer go out to Jamies family and I hope that you find out somthing very soon!

Last February, (2008) I met a guy (Grimey scumbag) out of XXXXX who told me some pretty interesting things. He started to tell me some crazy stories about Mr. Jeromy Ramm. Yes, Jeromy is very well known throughout Vermillion county. Of course, we all know, Mr. Ramm is a suspect in both of the cases that I am talking about.

After a few stories, he tells me that he knows who killed "those missing girls". This guy was a very good acquaintance with a man named Larry Conway and, of course, Jeromy Ramm. (Link is to IDOC) Larry is a very good friend of Jeromy Ramm also.

... (Snipped out of respect)

He tells me how Larry and Jeromy killed Heather Zimmerman. He told me that at the time Larry was in trouble, serving "periodic imprisonment", but had weekends free. He said that Heather was raped/killed in the middle of the night on the 24th/25th, but wasnt reported missing until the 26th. He told me that Larry was soo scared, that later that day, (25th, I believe) he actually turned himself in on a probation violation so that he would have an alibi.!

He told me how she was killed, but, since that is irrelevant, I will leave it up to you if you want to know. I will tell you that it was a cruel and sick death.

Anyways, he then starts telling me that Jeromy, "That other missing bitch", (Jessica [sic], in HIS words) and another guy (I have tried and tried to remember this guys name, but, sadly, I cannot. It WAS NOT Nibbe.) left the party together and he said that the other guy passed out once they got into the truck and by the time he woke up, Jessica [sic] was already dead. Raped and beaten/strangled to death) I SPECIFICALLY REMEMBER HIM SAYING "THE TRUCK"... NOT A CAR OR VAN.

He assured me that the bodies would NEVER be found. I asked how that was possible and he said:

"They were burned in an incinerator."

Right after he said that, I really started to doubt his story, laughed a little and said something along the lines of:

"Yeah, right. What is this, the movies?"

At this point, he got really mad and didnt like being called a liar. I have been around alot of shit in my life, but I tell you, this guy actually scared me with the look in his eyes....

He started yelling and asking me if I was calling him a liar. After I assured him that I believed him, and he calmed down, I asked him:

"Why the hell would someone own an incinerator?"

And he says:

"Deer huntin, dawg. Thats how alot of hunters dispose of the remains and bones that they dont use. They're gone. They're ashes now. I will bet you $2K that they never get found."

Then it really clicked in.... He wasnt bullshitting....

... (Snipped out of respect)

These guys are ruthless and WILL kill again, even if it years from now. They need to be questioned and stay in jail, where they belong.

I think the whole "JD" and Nibbe thing was just little Nibbe trying to be "cool" by saying his brother did it.

Keep the tips coming people if you would like justice served in Jamie Harper, Heather Zimmerman and Jane Doe's cases.

Jeromy Ramm will be out on parole and back out prowling the streets of Rantoul and the surrounding communities in the coming weeks. Larry Conway's projected release date is next fall. Web Extra Heather Zimmerman
Reported by: Dave Benton / WCIA 3
Tuesday, May 12, 2009 @04:12pm CST

A website was set up to honor Heather Zimmerman.

If you have information about her disappearance, call the Champaign County Sheriff's Office at 217/384-1204. One investigator is assigned to this case. But the chief investigator has been involved from the beginning.

Or you can send in a web tip to Champaign County Crimestoppers.

Zimmerman's case is similar to the case of Jamie Harper. Both vanished after going to a party in Rantoul. Harper was 20-years old when disappeared in March 2007. There's a discussion page at Help Find the Missing. Investigators check from time to time to see what bloggers are saying on this and other websites. They have also looked into any links between the two cases.
