Charge: Woman fed baby meth

A 21-year-old woman has been charged with giving her boyfriend's 10-week-old baby crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy. Stevette Patrice Chapman, 21, of Anniston was in Calhoun County Jail on Friday charged with aggravated child abuse, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of intent to distribute a controlled substance.

According to Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson, the baby was left with the father for a visit early Thursday. At some point during the day, the father left his girlfriend, Chapman, alone with the baby.

When the baby's mother returned, she noticed that the baby was sick and took the baby to the hospital.

Medical personnel conducted a blood test and found evidence of crystal meth and ecstasy.

Investigators from Daybreak Crisis Recovery Center and the Sheriff's Office arrested Chapman. Her bail has been set at $90,000.

People who are on drugs like this that breed babies, need to be sterilized. These people can go into rehab 20 plus times and never totally succeed. A small percentage do, but the majority does not. They love their drugs and will do anything to get them. They do not have the capacity to care for any innocent children they bring into the world. For the kids that do live, especially in a home where Meth is manufactured, these drugs are so powerful and the chemicals so poisonous that the long term affects are not known yet. However, it is known the cops who have been busting into these places over the last 10 yrs, many have died of cancer. So what does this say for the innocent kids living and born in this mess?

Thats rare to have a GF do something like that. However, its becoming more common. We had a GF here who was babysitting the child while her live-in BF worked. The child was about 2 and she beat the child to death and said he fell.

What in the hell is wrong with these young people that they don't want to try and better themselves, get on drugs in the first place, then destroy everyone's lives because of their habits?

I can honestly say I never even experimented with drugs when I was in school. I have to be in control and want to know whats going on around me. I had child abuse in my family, but I never wanted to go out and hurt or kill anyone else just because of what I went through. I can't comphrehend what these people are thinking when they even get on drugs. Thats just me.

It's me, too. I always wanted to be in control of myself, and never even wanted to get into the drug thing.

I can't even imagine someone hurting an innocent child, but it's all too common these days. IMO, our society is in a shambles.

i used to hang around bands, a LOT of bands in the big-hair 80's. most everyone was doing something. i've never even tried a regular ciggie, much less drugs. i saw how stupid they made people & i can be dumb enough just being myself. that being said, i can't have kids. do you have any idea how hard we have to work to go thru the adoption process? i'd kill to have a baby & these azzhats just ruin them & breed another. people make me sick.:puke:

I am just shocked at the number of women that harm babies and children! I cannot believe a G/F would harm a child. Drugs, jealous, evil or who knows.
Wish there was a status on the baby's condition.
