Well, isn't that her job. I mean she faces danger everyday, to sue this family who's child is in such bad shape due to this drowing. Isn't that adding insult to injury.

The only way I can see suing is if there were no actual emergency and they called and the cop got injured. But this was an actual emergency... that is what workman's comp and insurance is for.

I feel for those with knee problems but accidents happen. Suing the family for something they did not intend is just wrong.
I don't know about firing her. She screwed up though. Put her on desk duty or a different division if in fact she does have a lot commendations.
I thought I'd heard that she had to sue in order to get the insurance to pay or something like that.
Maybe I'm just getting soft these days. Good cops are hard to find. She messed up and as awful as it sounds it's not the worse thing any cop has done.

No, that wasn't the case at all. She got insurance and workman's comp but sued the family also. Her knee will heal, that baby is a vegetable. Imagine the pain those parents are feeling daily.

But the baby's injuries were not caused by her. Just like her injuries weren't intentionally caused by the parents.
I never agreed with her suing them but I thought I'd heard that as the reason for the suit.

I just don't know if I agree with her being fired for it.

I heard somewhere, don't remember where, that she was told to drop it by her bosses, she wouldn't and that's why she was fired.

That makes more sense. The article says she has numerous commendations so there are usually other steps in the process.
