I am going to ask to have this subject put in the sticky... if you don't mind.
It is very important.
I am surprised that this is just being said now. My SIL works with a cardiologist and has known for years that Avandia is harmful to disbetics with heart ailments.
My MIL has had three valve replacements and is a Type 2 diabetic. One of her docs had prescribed Avandia for her and my SIL almost blew a gasket because of my MIL's heart history.

This has to do with keeping the A1c at 6 or below...
It will take time for the data to be evaluated...but I suspect it will be more than one thing.
Not just one factor.
For example diabetics lose magnesium thru the urine. This leads to heart attacks too.
Also Metformin which is common in that trial, depletes B12. Low B12 leads to increased homocysteine which then inflames and damages the lining of blood vessels.
Many of the drugs in that trial have problematic depletion effects on essential nutrients. Studies like this do not include those factors.
