Thought I'd start a Weekend Discussion thread in case we all want to discuss some more.

I just want to say; that the defense has provided nothing with the three witnesses that were put on so far. And really, the Pastor, what was the point of that. Digging pretty far back into Julie's life for some kind of evidence.

Though, I'm still laughing out loud that the Judge said Albee could not call the detective to the stand who arrested Dillard; just so he could get the detective to admit that Dillard actually cried. OMG!!!!:67302: Good call judge.

Good morning Sciencegirl!:0012:

Give Molly a hug from me!

I had to go out for a while yesterday to get my son from school. I don't know how much I missed, but I did catch some of the Pastor's testimony, and was able to listen to MJ's sister. The part that I caught with the Pastor just annoyed me and I was really happy with Mr. Jambois' cross. It was awesome, even though it was objected to and sustained!:D

I'm sure the jury was thinking the things that Mr. Jambois brought up.

I didn't realize you were all over there until I started the thread; so I went to post to let you know I started a weekend thread; and got the Closed. So, I guess we are here for the weekend. Hope that is ok with everyone.

i totally missed her testimony yesterday. what did she say?

Basically, background on herself, her relationship with Julie, how Julie babysat her son up until he was about 4 and the reason Julie stopped watching her son. Said that she got a call at work from Julie with Julie yelling and very upset saying that the son had smeared poop all over the bathroom, that when she got there there was no sign of poop and that she didn't smell any cleaning products. I got the feeling she was implying that either Julie lied or was crazy and imagined the incident.

Keep in mind that I wasn't watching her testimony, only listening. I'm hoping that the person that has been posting the clips on U-tube will put it up today. I checked this morning but it wasn't there yet.

I just didn't like the way she came across. She was very relaxed as she spoke; and a bit too confident. Maybe I wanted to see some fear or loss in her face; afterall; she said her and Julie were best friends.

Do you think that she was surprised about the information that Mark was cheating on Julie, stalking her, and his porn obession? I wonder if his family was aware before these things were brought up in the court proceedings how strange MJ really is and the way he behaved towards Julie. I know that at one point she was asked a question about the things they did when they were kids and she stressed that they were "normal". I wonder if she's trying to convince herself as much as she's trying to convince the jury that MJ's "normal"?

well, jeezz, why would julie make something like that up? the child prolly very well DID it-- doesn't mean that it was a LOT (of poop, eww) she could've cleaned it easily without there being "cleaning smell"! especially depending on how long after it was before she arrived to pick him up! that does sound like was trying to imply that julie was crazy! aarrgghh!!!

I was thinking the same thing. I think she might have been like me (germaphobic). I think she also was stressed out from the stalking that MJ was putting her through. She might have been afraid that one of the boys might find the smut that was being left around, and its hard to keep two active four year olds in one place at the same time to make sure that doesn't happen. If I was going through what she was I would have been emotionally EXHAUSTED. Its hard to be a mom in that kind of situation, let alone take care of another person's child.

If Julie has known this poop would become a big issue years down the line, she would have thought to have taken a photo of "poop on the wall".:girl_haha:

Good morning! In briefly to read a bit and try to catch up.

This sister was the one who said that Mark killed Julie?? And now she's testifying FOR him?

Did Jambois get to cross her yet? And what was the point, if any, of the Pastor's testifying?

Cross won't happen until Monday. Yes, she's the one that signed a LE statement saying she believed MJ killed Julie.

I didn't get to see the pastor's testimony. Buffering problems all day yesterday. Then had to leave in late afternoon so missed sister's testimony. All I know is what I've read in posts.

Exactly right. Of all things to talk about. Maybe if Mark's sista was trying to take care of 2 four year old boys; she'd realize how stressed out a mother can be. She stated she was concerned that all was not good (she could tell if Julie had a good day or a bad day) and the poop incident threw her over the edge and she decided to not let Julie babysit. For Pete's sake, boys will be boys. So, if sista shows up and Julie is exhausted or frustrated; sista held that against her.

My two nephews when they were young, age 3-4 took a gallon of milk and poured it on the kitchen floor pretending it was an ice skaing rink :67302: Of course, Mom was in the shower at the time.

How morally compromised do you have to be as a MINISTER to testify on behalf of a penis-obsessed, porn-stalking, cheating murder suspect and say that it's "normal" for a new widower to treat a wake like a cocktail party?

That's disgusting. His congregation might be rethinking their affiliation this weekend.

Almost noon. There are 10 of us. SG I have plenty of funny stories of us as kids to tell also. It is all about growing up. It appears so far, the witnesses Albee's brought in have nothing to refute the pros' case. Not imo. And the wasn't allowed to bring in the police officer that arrested Dillard and made him "cry."

I dare say, Albee's CIC is going to falter badly.

No idea why the pastor was called. No idea why he'd want to testify for a slag prono lover, liar, wife cheater, stalker & murderer. Albeit the pastor is retired but still he's in the congregation.

Pastors nomally testify at a sentencing hearing, only to say they'd only seen the good side of the convicted defendant. And never have I seen a pastor disparage the victim.

Jambois is precluded from bringing in something; but I don't know what it is. After trial yesterday, the judge and Jambois were talking about it; and Jambois said "I'm well aware of that order from you at the forfeiture hearing" and I have no plans to go into it. Here's the kicker though. Albee has no idea what it's all about. So, of course, Albee wanted to know what it was and the Judge said to Jambois "you don't have to tell him if you don't want to; you are not required". And Jambois said "No, I don't want to tell him". And, Albee was not to pleased.

So beats me what it is; but if the Judge ordered Jambois not to bring something up this the sista; I would think Albee should have access to the information. So, who knows.:z0tdntknw:

Hey gang,
Good to see a group that has sane and reasonable posts. Now that Pros. has rested their CIC, the defense is off to a, let me pause, well, there OFF.

1. Dr. Rumack=Poison Expert[terrible mathematician]
2. Mr. Defazio=1990 Physiologist that gave samples of Prozac to JJ.
[cannot read his own notes]
3. Pastor ?= It's ok to laugh when one has lost their spouse.
4. Albee's asst.?= Provided proof that she sent court docs to Kenosha Jail.
[did not prove when MJ received them]
5. Laura Koster=MJ's sister[a crock] We have heard that term before.

Albee's argument for a witness[a cop] to testify that Dillard cries is a joke. Laughter brought tears to my eyes. Anyone want to guess that Albee wants LK's statement[I think my brother killed Julie] in via back door so he can claim a mistrial?

"During a hearing, Koster denied telling police she thought Mark killed Julie, despite a police statement with her name and phone number saying just that.
Koster said she did not want to give a statement when a detective first questioned her, and her husband cancelled a police interview."

ITA. It just really emphasizes what little the defense has to work with if they want to call in a witness to try to prove that Dillard really did cry. And the funniest part is, we could say Mr. Albee was crying about it :zm10:

But the question is; wouldn't Albee know this and know that Jambois is not to bring this in (if that is the case). I would think that he would know. Whatever it was; Albee was unaware. Actually, to Albee and really I guess to me; it appeared like it was a secret between the Judge and Jambois. That was just the impression; I'm not claiming any impropriety here by the Judge or Jambois. It was like Albee was left out and of course, he acted like a little kid; being left out of the boys clubhouse.

I agree that JJ probably CLEANED it up. Why would anyone leave it there? BTW... it would take 30 minutes to get from Abbott where she works to PP, and about 30 minutes to get from Racine to PP. She said both she and Mark arrived at the same time.

It might have been over reactive of Julie to call them both home from work over such an incident, but at the same time... trying to watch a bunch of kids running and back and forth around a pool, and clean up poop... might have put her over the edge in the moment. I just think it is a rather silly thing to have brought up, but I suppose the defense was trying to show JJ could "lose it" on occasion. What mother doesn't?

And, I think that Laura overreacted as well, to storm out with her child in tow never to return. But, nobody likes to have their child accused of doing something wrong.

What I really took offense to was having both the pastor and Laura recount the medical crisis JJ mother had at the rehearsal dinner due to alcohol withdrawal. I think that is just very very low. My mother was an alcoholic, and it is just such a complex disease and to reduce it to some incident of gossip is something I personally took offense to. Alcoholism touches so many~ probably everyone knows someone affected~ and I'm just not sure how that sat with the jury. To me, it was a dirty dirty tactic, and there is another word I'm thinking of and I can't put my finger on it~ that would describe it more accurately.

Good question, but Kenosha News has printed such, so Albee should know.
KL's statement has been sealed by the Judge[I think]. Unless there is something else, I would let Albee squirm over the weekend trying to figure it out himself.:francis:

how did it end up that it was first announced that MJ's sister would testify for pros.... and here she is on the def's list??? i have no idea what the point of the pastor's testimony was... i really didn't pay a whole lot of attention to it, so maybe i just missed it. seems to me like the def is really reaching with these witnesses!

I am sure there is a lot of family pressure... maybe the threat of having her inheritance pulled. Who knows. It would take someone of pretty high integrity to do the right thing, knowing they would be an outcast in the family. And, in reality, her testimony of "thinking her brother capable" doesn't really do a lot for the prosecution. It will be interesting to see if she is honest about recounting the conversation she had with Julie, where Julie told her she thought Mark was going to kill her.

What did the pastor say besides the part about JJ's mom at the rehearsal dinner? Was there an actual surprise witness?

Just to add a little insight to suicidal behaviors..People who commit suicide do not do it by putting poison their food or drink..remember they would be hell bent on fulfilling the outsome..So if EG was not found in any of the food stuffs from fridge, or any liquids collected from the scene..I highly doubt that this is a case of suicide. Now, on the other hand finding EG in food or drinks..that would indicate an attempt to mask the taste..thus poisoning by a third party. Now taking it to the level we have here in THIS case...None (EG) was found in food, liquids, in the house..and the deceased person in the house was poisoned 36 hourse or so before..then there is evidence of a cover up..

Cover-up by whom you say..Well it is a well known fact that EG kils by completion of 3-4 stsages. Julie was Dead on the 3rd Dec 1998. So the killing dose had to have been injested at least 36 hours prior... Since we know ..at least it was explained to the jurors, what happens to the "Ingestee" of EG..It is quite obvious that Julie was incapacitated to complete this supposed frame up..and why would she had ever wanted to clean up the scene if she was planning to frame Mark.

In a nutshell, Mark's defense does not hold water..and unless Craig Albee comes up with a smoking gun so to speak, then Mark should go down for this hiddeous crime!

LMS

Hi everyone..I just brought this post over from elsewhere..who many just want to point to Mark's innocents because???..The LE didn't test the dixie cups, or the bowls etc..and follow that by Julie malingering, faking, and staging her death to frame Mark!...Course most here don't buy that..but just taking this case on one level alone..is enough in my books.. Put this along with behaviors of a husband with "Issues" and a Devoted mother of 2 kids..I truly don't feel any confusion of the responsible person who murdered someone!

What did the pastor say besides the part about JJ's mom at the rehearsal dinner? Was there an actual surprise witness?

The pastor testified that he did not find MJ's laughter after JJ's death as unusual.
Jambois crossed with questions like: If you knew that MJ wanted his mistress to attend the funeral would you change your opinion?
If you knew that MJ was looking up poison on his home computer, would you change your opinion?
I need help on these answers because of buffering also.

LMS, I agree, it is a far fetched idea that JJ would use anitfreeze to frame MJ. That would be self torture to endure the effects of EG poisoning. The unreasonable doubt is the only twig for the defense to rely on.
The defense is about as funny as a one legged waiter/waitress at IHOP.

I would like to have answers to those questions, too. Yesterday was the worst day I've ever had with buffering problems. When it would connect, it only stayed on for 15 seconds and looked to be in slow motion.

Would also like to see Laura Koster's direct testimony. I keep checking youtube but nothing new has been added. Nothing from yesterday.

The Judge told Jambois if he now has reason or grounds to go into that....sisters statement....he needs to notify the court right away Monday morning before the jury enters.

Jambois said he sees no reason state can go into that unless she mentions it on direct....however based on Albees opening statement if she testifies as Albee said in his opening the Jambois said there will be rigorize cross examination.

Albees left to wonder what in his opening Jambois is going after :howdy:

Hi Cat -

Are you ready for this???? It's big stuff!!! Albee wanted to put the cop that arrested Dillard on the stand and ask him if Dillard in fact cried when he was arrested. The reason to put the detective on the stand - to prove that Dillard was lying when he said he did not cry. Yup, that's right!!!:67302:

And, of course, the judge said NO!!! :67302:

Molly is a sweetheart, thanks. Actually, I groom her myself.

Do not despair. Albee is like those uniformed doormen at the Ritz, always opening the door. Rather like those high-priced mouthpieces working for Spector.

I have faith in Craig that he will not be able to resist just one more question and it will be the one and Jambois will be riding the bulldozer through the opening.

ha! When I was in Wisconsin for the Osh Kosh air show in 2006, it was 100 stinkin' degrees. What's that about? It was in the 70's before AND after I was there. It was really a nice place, though. Like that big lake you got hanging around Milwaukee.

Was that the year they had big storms too? Yes, we sometimes have hot weather, but it usually only lasts a few weeks. USUALLY, but we can't count on anything anymore. The saying is: "If you don't like Wisconsin weather, wait a minute; it will change."

I wonder why the sister changed her mind about testifing against her brother
she has to be grossed out after hearing what he did and his obsession with his boyscout.

Some families are real big on denial. This I know because I married into one.
It's worse than "don't ask don't tell." It's about erasing the "bad event" from family history.

Example: last autumn a hugely embarrassing and downright awful thing happened to one of "the cousins" -- he got in deep trouble with the law because he broke it, and had to go to trial. It was an allegation of abuse.
And that's all I better say--but it was the talk of the family for 2 days, the phones were buzzing at all hours.

Then, it was over. Nothing was said. Absolutely nothing. Like the Devil's Advocate I sometimes am, (I'm just an in-law to this bunch), I just had to ask at a private family dinner: "WELL, so what's up with SoAndSo? Any news on what's going to happen?" And the entire group of 12 of them, the adults, became silent as death.

And then my MIL burned a look right through me and after many moments, she finally picked up her fork and began eating again. The rest of them, who'd all stopped eating to stare at me, or their plate, began eating then too.

And never was another word spoken about this cousin: a law enforcement officer, who broke the law, and also crossed the boundaries of morality and civility.
For months on end, no one talked about him or his trial.
If I didn't know better, I'd think it never happened. None of it.

The jury found him not guilty, and the story now is that he was the victim of a conspiracy against him, and a brother in law says he plans to file suit on the cousins behalf to clear his name publically. MIL says it's government abuse--and that's the family "line" too, if pressed for an answer.

But: It's not government anything. He's as guilty as guilty can be. But that's the story now. Within 6 months this guy has gone from black sheep to wronged hero--and that's the family's story, and they are sticking to it.

Last weekend at dinner, there was mention of this cousin--his wife left him because of what he was accused of doing--and we had a moment of silence for poor "him." He's the victim, now.

My dh and I have learned over the years to bite our tongues. Me, though, I tend to SAY something to see what kind of response I'll get--because their attitude of DENIAL of the facts just begs to be shaken up (by me. :eyebrow1qb:)

Denial. That's what the Jensen's are doing, too. I'll bet anything.
If you think their dinners are full of hand wringing and tears, I'll bet they're not like that at all.
Because within that family, they are denying that anything bad happened that involved Mark, and so they don't discuss it.
How can you discuss something that didn't occur? And the allegation that Mark killed Julie is so preposterous it's laughable, and not suitable for discussion.

Denying is easy for some families if they've done it all their "lives" together.
I KNOW, believe me.
I've seen some of best examples of DENIAL in the 36 years I've been an inlaw to my dh's family--and so while I do not agree with this method of dealing with "family problems" -- hey, this is what some families do, including the Jensens.
Denial is why they can chatter and chirp and laugh it up behind Mark in court--they know damn good and well what Mark did to Julie, but they're going to stick together, all the Jensens, and just say none of it ever happened.

That's THEIR story, and in the true style of DENIAL, they have no problem sticking to it.

Yep, and she wants to keep the mother-in-law who couldn't wait to meet her replacement. She wants to stay with the guy who gave both her & the girlfriend the same "$14,000" watch that in reality is so cheap that the girlfriend can't get anything for it at a pawn shop.

Exactly right. Of all things to talk about. Maybe if Mark's sista was trying to take care of 2 four year old boys; ... snipped.

I got the age from this post and an earlier one of someone who saw that testimony. I missed it. But maybe they were both just guessing.

Still, if 4 was accurate - it's pretty unusual behaviour.

Sorry, I think you have misunderstood me. I believe it happened - although probably not the way the sister recounts it. I'm defending Julie when I say this is unusual behaviour of a 4 year old. That kid must have been a real difficult child to look after. Probably would have been the last straw for me if I was babysitting. The child was not likely 'calmly' doing this. He was probably having an all out fit or some kind of other strange and concerning behaviour. I would have called the mom too. If the child were in JK the school would have called the parent to come immediately. I think calling the mom was perfectly the right thing to do.

I'm sure the sister has dramatized it to make Julie look bad. But, to me, she just makes me think of what kind of a brat her kid must have been.

The problem with shows like this is that you don't get all the information & evidence......the shows are orchestrated for ratings, not to give the viewer as much info as possible.

I tend to think he did it. But it the jurors weren't convinced. I'd sure like to know if the blood on the light bulb was wet or dry!

And the fact that LE didn't test the condom wrapper for DNA.....why didn't they at least try? That might have cleared up a question there but I tend to go along with what her mother said, that it confirms his motive.

I think you're right. Think about how you would react if you found someone you loved in a situation like that. No pulse & cold. You might grab them & cry & hold them, I don't think you would get on top of them. Even if you're gonna try mouth to mouth resuscitation, you don't get on top of them.

Also, I've heard something about how killers sometime set up for the body to be found when witnesses are present.

The question to be answered is if the DNA belongs to the other boyfriend. If it does, that points to the theory of motive. If it is mystery DNA, someone Nona didn't know, well that points elsewhere.

You would think so but but I do think a lot of guys would be concerned that they would become a suspect.

I was thinking about there being no sexual assault. But had she had sexual relations recently? Sounds like that is possible if a condom was found in her apt. Consensual sex with another boyfriend points to a motive for Kevin.

That's why I don't like shows like this. There is so much evidence left out. Those of us who are used to perusing as much evidence as we can are left without all we need to know to put all the pieces together.

Well said and especially the mentioned on the poop incidence. I think JJ was tired of watching her kid and probably exaggerated the extent of the mess. I know their have been times that I have phoned my DH and said that "You need to come home right now, because these kids are driving me batty." I also think this bashing of JJ is not going to go over well with the jury. Albee better tread lightly.:022:

You know, I'm thinking the sister said she herself called Mark, after Julie called her. Sounds like she didn't like what her son was being accused of to me. That's a good question & I've wondered that myself. It might depend who Laura felt closer to. She's saying she was Julie's best friend but she still thought Julie was wacky. I would imagine that Albee won't get close to that in direct. He wouldn't want to open that door for Jambois.

Good morning! I've got good news for Gram and others in the frigid midwest: Arctic Blast set to hit my area today, sending temps plummeting, with nasty winds. Small dog alert!

Meanwhile, I am watching my TiVo'd 48 HRS, a show I do enjoy regularly. And I see already from the boards, unfortunately, the denoument. I know how it turns out before it ends. Darn it!

I need to know more before I know how I feel about this case.

Meanwhile, I happened to be catch a few minutes yesterday of a Forensic Files about the murder of Edward Post's wife in a St. Louis hotel bathtub "drowned." I noted one witness' saying that the widower SKIPPED out of the funeral home and she had never seen a grown man SKIP!

This case was familiar and I wanted to write down the name of the author who was commenting. In the process I pushed the wrong button on my remote and changed the channel, so now it was all lost. I hate when that happens!

Just having finished the book about Tim Boczkowski who lost TWO wives to "drownings" I was particularly interested. Also I am always interested in the unusual ways in which KILLERS "grieve" for their victims. Which is to say, they DON'T. They are in fact relieved and happy.

So they skip out of the funeral home. They high-five their fathers and act like they are at cocktail parties. They trade their wives' car in immediately and try to sell the house furnished. They trash all her stuff. They enter wet T-shirt contests and snog a bunch of folks.

They buy Rolexes and expensive suits and restaurants and Porsches, they wear a gaudy leather motorcycle jacket with an eagle spread across the back to the graveside service, and announce to the dead wife's sister that he plans to remarry.

That's not how innocent people act. It's how the killers call attention to themselves, unwittingly.

And I am SICK of hearing how "everyone grieves differently." There are two way, to my mind: the really aggrieved are devastated. Killers celebrate and only pretend to grieve. And since they are often sociopaths, they can only emulate the behavior of real people and they often fail and subconsciously shoe their real feelings.

If Albee keeps bringing on witnesses like these; I'm sure the jury will see it for what it is.... Throwing everything at the wall to see if it sticks.

Also, did anyone else catch this. When Albee asked the Pastor "so you married Julie and Mark", the Pastor said "No, I blessed their marriage". What the heck was that all about. He either married them or he didn't.
