Jane Fonda may be 70, but she's not too old to have her mouth washed out with soap.
No stranger to controversy, the actress used a vulgar word to describe a body part on Thursday morning's Today show – which later prompted a statement of apology from the program's cohost, Meredith Vieira.
Fonda and The Vagina Monologues playwright Eve Ensler were having a Valentine's Day conversation with Vieira about the 15th anniversary of Ensler's best-known work – and the 10th anniversary of "V-Day," founded by Ensler to end violence against women and girls around the world – when Fonda let the "c-word" slip.
"We were talking about The Vagina Monologues and Jane Fonda inadvertently said a word from the play that you don't say on television," Vieira said after a newsbreak on Today. "It was a slip and obviously she apologizes, and so do we. We would do nothing to offend the audience. So please accept that apology."
I don't think she inadvertently said it. It didn't just slip out. I think she thought she was being comical and intended to use that word.
She is so incredibly tacky.

Why didn't Jane apologize herself?

Nothing surprises me anymore. Not defending her, but what about the soft porn daytime soaps that are on when kids are getting home from school (depending on what grade they are in)?
It must be that Hollywood generation. Diane Keaton let the "F" bomb slip a few months ago. Still its not acceptable at any age or generation. IMO

TV is so trashy. No wonder I'm addicted to HGTV.

The first time I ever heard someone (actor/actress in a tv show) say SOB, I almost passed out. Then they started slinging the B*tch word around. I figured the FCC was shut down and no one cared anymore. TV, Movies, and even cable just get more violent, vulgar and downright trashy. Compounded by that and parents that throw away their kids, then we are shocked at how they act now days. IMO

this woman is a nitwit. You're on national tv and you use a word like that? :eyebrow1qb:
I know she was /is the talk of the town with Veterans.

In no way am I defending her. But actors and actresses are usually not on live tv. Therefore, they are used to saying things like she did and thinking nothing of it.
Still, its something that should never have been said in mixed company let along live tv. IMO

they'll just say she was having a bad day. Her people. I just don't think she thinks before she speaks a lot of times. JMO.

Someone deleted my post about Jane, what was wrong with what I said and don't they usually tell you why they delete your post?

So she said a word that is in a play? What play is that?

I really think Jane F should exercise a little class. No excuse for her using that word IMO. I certainly do not want to hear that kind of talk! Same for Diane Keaton. Just vulgar. JMHO:o

Fonda – C-Word Flap is "Silly"
Even four days later, Jane Fonda thinks the big hullabaloo over her use of the word "c**t" on the "Today" show is a bunch of, um, hoo-hah.
"The first time that I knew about 'The Vagina Monologues,' I was asked to perform that particular monologue in Atlanta, and so I just happened to say the name of it," said Fonda, by way of explanation, according to Us. Meredith Vieira ended up having to issue an on-air apology after Jane's on-air slip.
"I didn't even think," said Fonda. "I'm sorry if I offended anybody ... I think it's pretty silly."

Jane F thinks it is silly because she obviously does not know what is appropriate talk and what is not. That is sad. She looses all virtue of being a lady when those kind of words come out of her mouth. Either that or she just plain does not care.
Bad manners, poor manners or no manners at all and whatever. Maybe that kind of stuff does not offend her and that says a lot!
