I do not see a thread for Erica Bradley, so please help me with it.
I don't know her, but another Carolina girl missing. Allendale, SC
She hasn't been seen since Nov. 5, 2006. She was last seen with her boy friend, or ex-boy friend. The father of her baby.
Her DNA, her blood, her skin. All found under HIS car! But, no arrest. I don't know how to post info from other sites. I just know what I have read.
This guy has custody of her baby. LE wanted to arrest, but solicitor said it wasn't enough evidence. I guess he wants a video.:0009:

Allendale teen remains missing despite searches
http://wistv.images.worldnow.com/images/5675725_BG1.jpg Erica Bradley
(Allendale) November 21, 2006 - Searchers are using all the tools at their disposal to find 17-year-old Erica Bradley, but all their efforts have not been successful.
Tuesday they had a scuba team and a cadaver dog from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department helping in the search.
Officers suspect Bradley's boyfriend may have had something to do with her disappearance. The teen was last seen arguing with the 18-year-old, Derek Maner, outside the Allendale County Courthouse. He says he dropped her off down the road.
Investigators don't believe Erica ran away. Henry, her father, talks about the day before Erica disappeared, "I talked to her Sunday and we were laughing and joyful. She talked to her mother and her sisters so there was no reason for her to walk off."
Erica and her boyfriend have a 10-month-old baby.

Search resumes for missing Allendale teen

ALLENDALE, S.C.---The search is back on for a missing Allendale teenager.
The trail leading to 17-year-old Erica Bradley seemed to dead-end after she disappeared in early November. Now her family is bringing in search experts all the way from Texas.
The search attempts up to this point have turned up pieces of evidence here and there, but none of them led to Erica. Now, as time continues to pass and the trail gets colder by the day, the family says they're more determined than ever to get answers.
Erica Bradley's mother Jackie and the rest of the family will leave no stone unturned until they find her.
"I want to see her walk through those doors," Jackie Bradley told News 12. "It's been hard not knowing where she's at."
The trail has been a hard and long one for the entire family. Erica disappeared November 6 after leaving her job at a local Hardees. Since then, law enforcement turned up clothes, socks and shoes, pieces of hair extensions, and other things in the woods. But so far, those leads haven't been enough.
"We going to have to get an ending of this to give up," said Erica's great-aunt, Maudell Hicks. "We have to know where she is to give up."
That's why they're bringing in Texas Equusearch, an organization of volunteers from the Houston area dedicated to finding people like Erica.
"We want to search every square inch...and I truly don't feel she's very far away from us," said Equusearch director Tim Miller.
Miller and his group are combing a few hundred square miles on foot, four wheelers, and with the help of a well-trained sense of smell. Miller says the mild landscape, relatively flat and dry, ill help the mission.
"This family needs closure. This town does," Miller said. "It's a terrible loss."
Closure after two months of wondering.
"If y'all know where my daughter at, I'd appreciate it if y'all come and let us know where she's at so we can do what we got to do, whatever," Jackie said.
Until then, the search continues.
Texas Equusearch started their search today, and they're hoping to get a group of about a hundred volunteers. They're also offering a $2500 reward for information leading to Erica Bradley.
You can reach them at 877-270-9500. You can also visit them online by clicking here (http://www.texasequusearch.org/).
This investigation began more than seven weeks ago. Here's the progress so far.
Erica Bradley turned up missing November 6. The Allendale Sheriff's Department got involved three days later. That's when they named her boyfriend, Derek Maner, a suspect and started searching the woods. Today the search continues with the recovery organization.
State and local law enforcement investigations are ongoing.

Erica Bradley's Boyfriend is Prime Suspect in her Disappearance
By David Lohr (http://www.crimelibrary.com/about/authors/lohr/index.html)
February 13, 2007
ALLENDALE, S.C. (Crime Library) — Erica Bradley has been missing since November 6, 2006, and investigators still have no leads in the 17-year-old's disappearance. Erica's friends and family members say Derek Maner, 18, her boyfriend and father of her of her nine-month-old son, is responsible for her disappearance. The Allendale County Sheriff's Department admits he is their prime suspect but says they do not have enough evidence to arrest him.
http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics/photos/news/original/0207/erica_bradley/Erica-Bradley%281%29200.jpgErica Bradley
According to police documents, Erica was last seen at the Hardee's in downtown Allendale where she works. She allegedly had an argument with her boyfriend, whereupon she accused him of cheating on her with another woman. The events following the argument are not clear, and Maner's own statements are all police have to go on.
http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics/photos/news/original/0207/erica_bradley/Allendale,-SC-map200.jpgAllendale, SC
During questioning, Maner told investigators he was driving Erica to meet with the girl with whom she accused him of having an affair in order to prove his innocence, when Erica suddenly and unexpectedly jumped out of his car and ran into the woods. Maner said he stopped the car and looked for her, but was unable to find her. He assumed she was going to make her way home, so he drove off and left her. Erica did not live with her parents, and Maner waited two days to tell them their daughter was missing.
In the days following her disappearance, the Allendale County Sheriff's Department conducted a massive search for Erica at the location where her boyfriend said she ran into the woods. Searchers found clothes, shoes and pieces of hair extensions belonging to Erica, but they were unable to locate her. Suspecting the worst, authorities brought in cadaver dogs to assist, but the dogs failed to pick up a scent.
Allendale County Sheriff
In December, Tim Miller, director of the search and rescue organization Texas Equusearch (http://www.crimelibrary.com/criminal_mind/forensics/texas_equusearch/1.html), traveled to South Carolina with a group of volunteers to assist in the investigation.
http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics/photos/criminal_mind/forensics/texas_equusearch/Tim-Miller200.jpgTim Miller
"We want to search every square inch," Miller told WRDW. "I truly don't feel she's very far away from us... This family needs closure. This town does."
Miller and his group walked on foot and used all terrain vehicles to thoroughly search the woods where Erica disappeared, but in the end, they were unable to locate her.
Authorities say Erica does not fit the profile of a runaway. Friends, family and even her employer have all described her as a responsible young adult, who had her priorities in order. She had a solid relationship with her parents and loved her siblings. Her family also emphasizes that under no circumstances would she ever abandon her child. Her grandmother, especially, suspects Maner had something to do with her granddaughter's disappearance.
"Derek, we loved Erica and we loved the baby," Erica's grandmother Annie Wright said in an interview with WIS-10 last week. "Whatever you did to Erica, would you please let law enforcement know?"
http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics/photos/news/original/0207/erica_bradley/Erica-Bradley%282%29200.jpgErica Bradley
As the investigation into Erica's disappearance continues, investigators remain hopeful. Last week, the Allendale County Sheriff's Department said they are expecting lab results this week that may shed some light on the case; however, they refused to comment on what items were being tested.
Erica's sister, Kywana Bradley, recently left a heartfelt message for her sister on her Bebo.com profile.
http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics/photos/news/original/0207/erica_bradley/Kywana-Bradley150.jpgKywana Bradley
"Hey what's up big sister? I just wanted to let u know we are still looking for you and we miss you and we love you... there's not a day in my mind that I don't think about you and talk to my self knowing your not there listening to me or playing with me like we use to, but I still remember the good times... I really do miss you and some times when I am by myself I cry. I look at your picture and just cry because your not here with us..."
The family of Erica Bradley is offering a $2,500 reward for information in her disappearance. Anyone with information should call the Allendale County Sheriff's Department (803) 584-2361.

Allendale Teen Erica Bradley Still Missing One Year Later
By Danielle Johnson (http://www.nbcaugusta.com/about/personalities/newsbios/2198652.html)
Story Published: Nov 6, 2007 at 5:13 PM EST
Story Updated: Nov 6, 2007 at 7:14 PM EST
One year ago today Allendale teen Erica Bradley went missing. After several intense searches, DNA evidence and a prime suspect, investigators still have not solved the case or made an arrest.
“Give them faith to let them know that Erica will come forth; that we are going to find out exactly what happened to Erica, oh God,” said Annie Wright, Erica’s grandmother.
Erica Bradley's family is still praying and hoping for her safe return. The honor roll student, mother and daughter has been missing since last November. No one feels the loss more than her mother, Jackie.
“It hurts not knowing where she is at; if she's dead or alive. I am just praying and hoping that she is,” said Jackie Bradley.
On the night Erica disappeared investigators say she was last seen with Derick Manor her boyfriend and father of her child. Investigators say Erica had just finished her shift at Hardee's and met up with Derick at the Allendale County courthouse just blocks away.
They say the two got into an argument outside the courthouse but later drove away together in Derick's car. He was the last person to see her alive. Investigators found DNA evidence of Erica's blood, tissue and hair underneath Derick's car seen in this picture.
“I’m just sitting here watching him walk the streets free. I mean it could be somebody else's child that he could do the same thing to,” said Jackie Bradley.
Allendale County Sheriff Tom Carter, whose department is investigating the case, says Manor is and remains the only suspect in this case. But he says Manor has not been cooperative.
“The frustration is not knowing where this girl's body is, the feeling that the boyfriend did something to her not get this case to court,” he said.
And it's the South Carolina solicitor who's kept that from happening so far.
In a statement South Carolina Solicitor Duffie Stone said, “Yes, I am the hold up in this case. I am currently meeting with SLED investigators and we are still collecting evidence. We only get one shot to prosecute a case. I don't just want an arrest but a conviction,” he said.
And until that happens, it's this family's faith and Erica's memory that will keep them hoping.

Missing Allendale teen thought to be dead, officials say
(Allendale County) November 15, 2006 - Allendale County officials have gone from searching for a missing teenager to looking for her body.
It's been more than a week since Erica Bradley disappeared. Now officials and family are fearing for the worst.
Erica Bradley, her baby and her boyfriend were a family that fell apart last week. The 17-year-old mom has been missing for nine days.
For the girl's father, too much time has passed. When asked by WIS News if he believes Erica is alive, Henry Bradley responded, "In my heart, no. But I have to believe she is. But I don't see her walking away from all this."
Authorities feel the same way.
"Really, we're at the possibility now that we are looking for a body," Allendale Sheriff Tom Carter told WIS News.
Sheriff Carter says so far the search has turned up nothing significant. They've named her boyfriend Derick Maner a suspect, but don't have enough evidence to arrest him. Maner told officers that after an argument, Bradley jumped out of his car on Highway 125, about four miles from where the couple lived.
"We don't have anything to contradict that she didn't get out of the car," says Sheriff Carter.
What has been more frustrating for the Bradley family, are the rumors that have surfaced since the search for Erica started.
The sheriff says talk around town that the girl's body was found is false, and that shoes found during a search this week could belong to Bradley. Tests have not come back to confirm this.
But not everyone is preparing for the worst. The missing girl's grandmothers get together to offer hope. "Everybody has a different way to look at it. My faith and belief is she's alive," says Annie Ruth Wright.
In their hearts this family hangs on for a happy ending, while all around them it's another day, and friends stop by to pick up flyers to pass out.

Details of Disappearance
There has been no sign of 17-year-old Erica Bradley, since November 6, 2006, and her 18-year-old boyfriend remains a suspect in her disappearance by the Allendale Sheriff’s department. Derek Maynor, Erica's boyfriend is the father of her nine-month-old son.
Authorities say they do not have enough evidence to charge him, and it is not certain what exactly happened to Erica. Erica Bradley was last seen at the Hardee’s in downtown Allendale where she worked.
Erica's grandmother says Erica was with Derek the night she went missing. There is another report she was seen arguing with Maynor in front of the Allendale Courthouse. Erica’s grandmother says they were fighting because Erica thought he was seeing another woman in Appleton. The two were supposedly on their way there so Derek could prove her wrong. However, according to Derek, while on the way, Erica jumped out of the car into the woods and disappeared.
Erica's mother thinks Derek killed her on the way to Appleton. Her father said he spoke to her the dayshe went missing, was upbeat and happy and there was no way she would have “walked away from this” referencing her son, and family.
Erica's family is offering a $2,500 reward to anyone who knows anything about her disappearance. Investigators have continued to work the case, and are awaiting test results of some new evidence.

New Developments In Erica Bradley's Disappearance
There are new developments in the disappearance of Allendale, SC teen Erica Bradley
Thursday, Mar 06, 2008 - 07:25 PM
Allendale, SC -- Last week, a woman contacted the Allendale County Sheriff's Office with an unusual tip. Investigators say she had a dream about where they should search. The woman told investigators about her dream...and they decided to revisit the case of Erica Bradley's disappearance.
Fraendy Clervaud, reporting: "And, at this point, do you feel you'll ever find your daughter?"
Jackie Bradley, Erica's mother: "I don't know...praying and hoping."
Erica Bradley's mother tries to hold back tears as she talks about her daughter. This past weekend, the family and Allendale County investigators were part of another search, trying to find the missing teen's body.
Jackie Bradley: "It was hard not seeing her face, everyday, and knowing if she's dead of alive. I mean, it's painful."
Sheriff Tom Carter says the tip tied into things they already knew about Erica's disappearance..
Sheriff Tom Carter, Allendale County Sheriff's Office: "Some things she said went along with some things I was already looking at."
They looked around the Martin area. They searched in creeks, under bridges, and even in the woods...but no sign of Erica.
Although Erica's body was not found, search crews did find a pair of keys. Investigators say they're waiting for the family to verify if the keys belonged to Erica. The search opens up painful wounds for her family.
Jackie Bradley: "Because, if you look all over the world, everyday somebody is being snatched by someone and we asking everyone to keep us in prayer, no one can imagine what we going through."
Sheriff Carter says, based on evidence found underneath her boyfriend's car, he is a strong suspect.
Sheriff Carter: "Her blood, some hair and some tissue."
Meanwhile, the family waits and holds onto their faith.
Minister Annie Wright, Erica's grandmother: "Praying, praying, praying everyday, and asking God to keep the family strong."
Sheriff Carter tells me that although they have some evidence, they will not be able to prosecute without Erica's body.
SLED has also been called to help with this investigation.

For Sheriff Carter to even make such a statement makes me MAD!! I have heard lots of LE say, "We don't have to have a body to prosecute". Carter seems to be hurting the case. Duffie Stone just seems too afraid of losing to prosecute.

Breaking News--Arrest in Erica Bradley Murder
http://www.wrdw.com/home/headlines/17265914.html
April 3, 2008
Allendale, SC--
State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents in South Carolina have arrested Derek Maner and charged him with murder in the Erica Bradley
case.
The Allendale teenager has been missing since late 2006 after she left her job at a restaurant there. She was 17. Maner, her boyfriend, was the last person seen with her, near the courthouse in Allendale.
Family members, law enforcement officers and volunteers from many areas searched for any clues after her disappearance.
In May 2007 Sheriff Tom Carter told News 12 DNA tests showed Miss
Bradley's blood was under her boyfriend's car the night of her disappearance. The DNA evidence includes samples from her hair, blood and tissue.
In the past Maner told officers she jumped out of the car after an argument.
There is no indication at this time if Miss Bradley's remains have been
found. Investigator Steven Robinson told News 12 SLED agents will be back in the area Friday morning.
Miss Bradley had a five month old son at the time she disappeared and was an honor roll student at the local high school. Maner is the father of the child.
In November 2007, Sheriff Carter told News 12, "I believe the suspect is the murderer. I also got two outside agencies helping me with this case that feel the same."
There is also no word yet on what, if any, new evidence has led SLED
to charge Maner in the case.
News 12 will be in Allendale for more updates on this Breaking News. Some of these unanswered questions may be answered.
We'll have more details later today.

Derek Maner in court; Ericka Bradley's family says justice is served

News 12 First at Five, April 4, 2008
ALLENDALE, S.C. -- Today, 20-year-old Derek Maner is answering to murder charges after investigators say Ericka Bradley is dead and Maner, her boyfriend, killed her.
Today Ericka's family finally got their day in court as well.
Derek Maner woke up in jail for the first time Friday morning, and Ericka's family says they hope he stays there for life.
Gardner, "Do you have anything to say to Ericka's family?"
"Where is ericka's body?" "Do you know where she is?" Derek Maner gives no answers to questions investigators believe only he can answer.
"Hard seeing him walk up in that courtroom, like he had no remorse, like he hadn't did anything." says Jackie Bradley, Ericka's mother.
"I wish they could grill him, shine the hard lights on him and mmmmmmmm.... make him talk-tell us where she is you know, tell us where she is!" adds Ericka's grandmother Modestine Williams.
Strapped, shackled and cuffed, the man Ericka Bradley once loved, stands before a judge and her family and faces his charges.
"You are being charged with capital murder, do you understand your charges?" asked the Judge to Maner.
Maner,"Yes."
Ericka's family says they also understand this means--despite their efforts -- she probably isn't coming home alive. "I mean we crawled on the ground, we digged with shovels, i even dug with my hands." explains her aunt, Bonnie Myers.
Searches that for 17 months, turned up nothing. Searches maner and his family never participated in and today, he stood alone--with no one on his side not even his Mom and Dad.
"For them not to show up, for me, it's a sign of guilt." adds Myers.
The couple's son, named Ty Derrius-- may grow up without both of his parents. He is being raised by Maner's family, but Ericka's family says they will now fight for custody.
"It was just like looking the devil in the face." says Ericka's other grandmother Annie Ruth Wright who confronted Maner in court and surprisingly to her, he looked back.
"He just don't have a heart, he just don't have a heart." adds Jackie Bradley.
But Ericka's family says she did have a heart, and it belonged to Derek Maner.
"She loved him very much, she did anything in the world for him." says Bradley.
Now the only other thing in the world Ericka's family wants is to bring her home. "Ericka if you are gone, darling i love you and may god forever bless you and we are going to take care of your child." cries Phillips.
Investigators say there is a possiblity of other arrests in this case, but they won't add who.
Derek Maner will have a bond hearing in the next few weeks.
In the meantime he was taken to another county jail because Ericka's uncle works at the Allendale County jail.
Investigators say they still don't know where Ericka's body is. They hope so for the family's sake that Derek will tell investigators where to find her remains, but the say they don't need it to get a conviction in their minds--they say the evidence speaks for itself.

Accused Girlfriend Killer Faces Judge In Allendale County
By NBCAugusta Reporters
Story Published: Apr 4, 2008 at 6:46 PM EDT
Story Updated: Apr 4, 2008 at 7:06 PM EDT
The man accused of killing his girlfriend, more than a year ago, made his first court appearance in Allendale on Friday.
Derek Maner appeared before a judge to formally hear the murder charge against him.
Wearing an orange jump suit with his hands and feet shackled, accused-killer Derek Maner is walked into an Allendale County courtroom.
"We now know we won't be able to find her so with that and time, the solicitor gave us the green light to go ahead with the case," said Sheriff Tim Carter, Allendale County.
This was Maner's first court appearance since SLED agents arrested him Thursday in Columbia.
Emotions ran high in the courtroom as Erica Bradley's family watched on. Her grandmother was given a chance to address Maner.
"You have no right to take anybody's life, no body's life because God gives it and it's Gods job to take it," said Annie Wright, Erica's grandmother.
Outside the courtroom, Erica's mother reacted to seeing her daughter's accused killer.
"It hurt, real bad, I swear it did," said Jackie Bradley, Erica's mother.
They haven't spoken since the 17 year-old went missing in November 2006.
Investigators say Bradley was last seen with Maner at Hardee's in Allendale.
"I want to see him get life. He doesn't need to be walking around here, he doesn't deserve it," said Jackie Bradley.
"Seeing him in those handcuff, it should have happened a long, long time ago," said Bonnie Lyers, Erica's aunt.
For safety reason, Maner is being held at the Hampton County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
Last May investigators told NBC Augusta they found blood and hair under Maner's car. Tests revealed it matched Erica's DNA.
NBC Augusta has also learned Erica's family plans to fight for custody of Maner and Bradley's child. Right now Maner's family has custody.
No one from Maner's family was in court Friday.

UPDATE: Second arrest warrant issued in Ericka Bradley case
ALLENDALE, S.C. -- Investigators in South Carolina are looking for another man to question in the Ericka Bradley murder investigation.
Bradley's boyfriend, Derek Maner, is already in jail charged with her death.
Investigators aren't giving his name because they don't want him to run, but they do believe someone helped Derek Maner and this could be their guy.
A 17 month mystery of what happened to Ericka Bradley has few answers and a lot more questions, even after the prime suspect Derek Maner is in jail and charged with her murder.
"We feel that there are more people involved with this than just Derek." says Allendale County Sheriff Tom Carter.
Gardner, "Why?"
Sheriff Carter, "One reason is we never found the body."
And he says that isn't all. "Some of the evidence we found led us to believe there is someone else involved."
He wouldn't elaborate to us what that evidence was, Sheriff Carter also won't release the man's name or what role he may have played, only saying it's possible he may have helped Maner hide Ericka's body.
"This is a person of question we want to talk to. Maybe we'll get something from it, maybe not." Sheriff Carter confirms to News 12 an arrest warrant is out on this man and it was taken out after Derek Maner's arrest warrant was issued last week.
News 12 could not obtain it because it won't be public record until the man is arrested.
As for if Derek is helping investigators now that he is behind bars, Carter says "No he hasn't said anything as far as I understand."
But one thing is for sure, with or without Derek Maner's cooperation this case will proceed and Sheriff Carter's wishes are clear, he wants Maner convicted and anyone else involved brought to justice as well.
Sheriff Carter says this man is not on the run right now and he may not even know authorities are looking for him. He was last known to be in the Hampton County area but that's the last they know.
Sheriff Carter added the man's name came up during the initial investigation and he is not believed to be related to Derek Maner. New information has led to the arrest warrant being issued and it doesn't end there, the Sheriff says there is still the possibility of more arrests in this case.

Allendale Man Accused of Killing Missing Girlfriend Out Of Jail
The family of an Allendale teen is outraged after a judge released her accused killer on bond.
Three weeks ago, Derek Maner was arrested and charged with Erica Bradley's murder.
Monday a judge granted Maner a $150,000 surety bond. Maner paid $15,000, which is 10 percent of his bond , to a bail bondsman to get him out of jail.
Bradley's family said Maner should have never been granted bond.
“You ran for 17-months you should not have the opportunity to run no more,” Bonnie Myers, Erica's aunt.
“If he did this to my daughter God knows that he'll do it to someone else's daughter,” said Jackie Bradley, Erica's mother.
Allendale Sheriff Tom Carter is furious that bond was even set.
“Being a murder case, I just don't think it was appropriate for him to still be out on the street,” said Sheriff Carter.
The judge says she granted Maner bond because he has no criminal record, he's a student at Benedict College, is not a flight risk and is not a danger to the community.
Bradley's aunt calls it a major setback in the search for Bradley who's been missing since November 2006.
“We have searched and looked for my niece for 17-months, every weekend after weekend, through the rain and cold, crawling on the ground whatever we had to do we did it,” said Myers.
Despite this latest twist in the case the family says they still have faith Derek Maner will be brought to justice.
Maner is on house arrest. His trial date has not been set.

Tuesday, Apr 29, 2008 - 03:15 PM Updated: 07:11 PM
Allendale, SC -- Derek Maner, accused of killing Erica Bradley in Allendale County, SC, has been returned to jail.
On Monday, Maner had a bond hearing in Allendale, and his bond was set at $150,000. He also had several stipulations given to him by Judge Carmen Mullen. He was freed Monday night after making a 10 percent payment on the bond.
On Tuesday, Allendale County Sheriff Tom Carter told WJBF-TV News Channel 6 that Maner was back in jail, and that the judge had revoked his bond. The Sheriff would not disclose why the bond was revoked.
In a press release from Benedict College, spokewoman Kim Hunter said that Maner has been administratively withdrawn from the college.
According to Benedict College's Academic Policies on their website, a Withdrawal -- Administrative (WA) is as follows:
"Students may also be withdrawn administratively from the College at any time by the Registrar and Director of Student Records upon the recommendation of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Student Affairs, or the President. Such withdrawals may be made when students fail to meet financial obligations, for disciplinary reasons, for violations of academic regulations, class attendance policies, or for the good of the College."

Bond should never have been granted in the first place, IMO. I hope it's true he's revoked and back in jail.

You are right, Roamer. It took Heaven and Earth to get him arrested! Solicitor Duffie Stone kept saying he couldn't prosecute, or win a prosecution, without a body. Hope his statement doesn't hurt the case. Surely with all the DNA they have it won't.

Allendale, SC—- Opening arguments started with the defense saying that the case should not be classified as a murder trial but a missing person’s case. That’s because Erica Bradley’s body hasn’t been found. Bradley’s 2nd cousin Peter Carter was the first to take the stand. He said he picked Erica up after work on November 6, 2006. He says they both ran into Maner near the Allendale courthouse and Bradley got into an argument with Maner.
Peter Carter, Victim’s Cousin: “She got a bat out of who’s truck… Derek’s truck and what happened.. he blocked it and threw it on the ground.. Then I picked it up and placed the bat back into the truck.“
Carter says he then left his cousin because the argument was over and about an hour later he got a call from Maner.
Peter Carter: “Derek called to the house saying she would not get back into the car so he said go look for her.”
Carter says he did just that but never found Erica that night. The defense argued that Carter’s previous written statements may have errors because of differences in time sequences. Erica’s other sister Jessica Bradley was next up. She says after three days of not hearing from Erica she ran into Maner at Wal-mart. She says Maner was with another woman, and he didn’t seem concerned that Erica was missing. Jessica says she later confronted him.
Jessica Bradley, Victim’s Sister: “I asked him what happened he kept saying I don’t know. He kept crying saying he’s sorry for what happened. I kept asking him what happen he just kept on crying.“
Allendale County Sheriff Tom Carter also took the stand and is now required to turn in any information that he has pertaining to this case.

Bradley Family Gets Guilty Verdict, Wants Body To Bury
An Allendale man may spend the rest of his life in jail for the murder of 17-year-old Ericka Bradley. Thursday night, a jury found 20-year-old Dereck Maner guilty of her death.

Allendale, SC—It ends where it all started…
17-year-old Ericka Bradley left work, in November of 2006. Witnesses say she ended up in front of the courthouse, in an argument with her boyfriend, and son’s father, Dereck Maner.
It was the last time she was seen alive.
Jackie Bradley, Ericka Bradley’s Mother: “Very good Mom, very independent too.“
The entire town turned out to help look, but her body was never found.
Annie Wright, Bradley’s Grandmother: “I don’t think there was a person in Allendale who wasn’t concerned about this case and what happened to Ericka.”
Cherry Jones, Allendale, SC: “It’s been the biggest talk in Allendale, and it’s been going on a long time.“
Maner was named as a suspect, and this week, put on trial for murder. Thursday night, he was found guilty.
J. Bradley: “It lifted a big burden off me, I know that much and I’m glad the judge did what he did, because he deserved it, because he didn’t have to do what he did.“
Jones: “But I think the worst part about it, both sides lost a family member.“
Now, the family’s attention will turn away from the past two years, towards the couple’s son Ty, now 2 year’s old.
Wright: “One day, I don’t know how we’re going to sit down and tell him, because I’m sure he’s going to sit down and ask questions about his mother. One day, and I pray that when we get to that point, it won’t be a rough time for him.“
Jones: “He lost his mother, and father. Which one? He isn’t going to know either one of them now.“
The Thanksgiving after Ericka disappeared, her family left a place at the table for her. This year, they plan to let Ty fill in.
J. Bradley: “At least he can take her spot at the table. I’ll be able to raise him, and take care of him like she would want me to do.“
Bradley says she is now sharing custody of Ty with Dereck Maner’s parents. They go back to court next month; Bradley is asking for full custody.
It is not over yet for the Bradley family. Johnathan Capps is accused of helping Derek Maner cover the crime, and is charged with accessory after the fact. He will go to trial as well, but that date has not been set yet.
The Allendale Sheriff tells this is the first time in Allendale County a guilty verdict has been reached without a body being found. It’s believed to only be the second time this has happened in South Carolina’s history.
We were unable to reach anyone in the Maner family for comment.

The Missing - A Weekly Exposé of Lost Souls - Issue #34
May 14, 2009

In this week's edition of "The Missing," we revisit the disappearance of Erica Bradley, a 17-year-old resident of Allendale, South Carolina, who went missing in November 2006.
According to the Allendale County Sheriff's Department, Erica was last seen near the Allendale courthouse on Nov. 6, 2006, where she allegedly got into an argument with her boyfriend and father of her of her nine-month-old son, 18-year-old Derek Maner.
When police later questioned Maner, he admitted to being involved in the argument and told them that Erica had accused him of being unfaithful. Maner said he had denied the allegations and that he had attempted to disprove them by driving Erica to meet the girl that he had been accused of cheating with. Maner said they got into his car and were driving down the road when Erica unexpectedly jumped out and ran into a wooded area.
Suspecting foul play, the sheriff's department, along with a search and recovery group from Texas, conducted a massive search for Erica at the location where her boyfriend said the incident had occurred. Searchers found clothes, shoes and pieces of hair extensions belonging to Erica, but they were unable to locate any further sign of her.
The investigation continued and in May 2008 authorities arrested Maner and charged him with Erica's murder. Police also arrested Maner's friend, 22-year-old Jonathan Lee Capps, II, and charged him as an accessory after the fact.
In an affidavit from the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Capps allegedly admitted to helping Maner dispose of Erica's remains by putting her in an incinerator at the lumber company he worked at. The affidavit also stated that witnesses had told police that Capps had make jokes about the incident – allegedly saying that he should have gotten Erica's gold teeth before he put her in the firebox.
In addition to the affidavit, police had also found Erica's blood, tissue, and hair beneath Maner's car.
In Feb. 2009, a jury found Derek Maner guilty (http://www.wjbf.com/jbf/news/crime/article/derek_maner_found_guilty_of_murder/10945/) of murder and he was sentenced (http://www.wrdw.com/crimeteam12/headlines/39529252.html) to life in prison. Following the hearing, Maner apologized to the family but denied any involvement in the murder.
Jonathan Lee Capps has not yet stood trial and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
To date, Erica's remains have not been found. Her grandmother remains doubtful that she was incinerated and believes that she is still out there somewhere.
Erica Bradley is described (http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PubCaseSearchServlet?act=viewPoster&caseNum=1057729&orgPrefix=NCMC&searchLang=en_US) as a black female, 5'4" tall, 135 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Allendale County Sheriff's Department at 803-584-2361.
