Ex-cop slain by wife, says family

Abused for years, a Queens wife snapped Monday and fatally shot her husband - a retired NYPD detective - in the back as he shaved, sources and her family said.

Barbara Sheehan, 46, kept her head bowed and her eyes on the ground as detectives led her out of the couple's Howard Beach home in handcuffs.

I have Police Officers in my family and have known a few as friends. Sometimes I think they get so desensitized (sp), they go home and take it out on family with abuse. I'm not making excuses. Some of the things they see are horrible. Still its so sad the abuse got to this point. I wish the woman could have just gotten out of it. But then again, there is always a Drew Peterson in the group.
