Missing/Endangered Child Alert: Destiny Mondragon
http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m196/wheezer5695/des.jpg
The missing child is 15 year old Destiny Mondragon. Ms. Mondragon is described as being 5’6” tall weighing 217 pounds. Mondragon is under the charge of the State of New Mexico as her paternal parent’s rights have been terminated. Destiny has both neurological and intellectual disabilities. She is taking several medications and has the intelligence capacity of a 5 year old child.
Destiny Mondragon was last seen the night of 02-17-08, when she exited the residence in which was staying at. The time she was last seen was approximately 11 p.m. The area she left from is located in Vista Hills (subdivision of Rio Rancho). A non-descript vehicle was seen in the area by persons in the area, around 11 p.m. but it is unclear as to whether the young girl got into the vehicle or if she just left the area on foot.
Officials fear that because of her limited mental capacity and that she has not taken her medication, Ms. Destiny Mondragon could be in danger. Any persons having any information concerning Destiny Mondragon are urged to contact Rio Rancho Police Department immediately at 505-891-7226.

This poor little girl is the kind child predators prey on. Let's hope she just wandered away and is found safely and soon. :1222423:

Oh, no. I got chills when I read this. Not good. I pray she is okay somewhere, but with the mental capacity of a 5 yr old? That doesn't sound good for this poor girl. I'd like to know who was supposed to be supervising her. You wouldn't let a 5 yr old walk out the front door at 11 at night, why would they allow her to?! Same difference, if you ask me.
ETA: Actually, I wouldn't allow a "normal" (I hate using that word) 15 yr old to walk out the door at 11 PM.

MISSING ENDANGERED PERSON: DESTINY MONDRAGÓN
2/19/08 Noon: Mentally challenged girl still missing
News Release: Destiny Mondragon
RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) - A 15-year-old girl who may have the mental capacity of a 5-year-old remains missing after leaving her home on Sunday.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children today added Destiny Mondragón to its national database of missing children.
According to the organization, the 15-year-old may be in the company of an adult female and male.
They may be in the metro area or travel to the Denver area, the center said.
Mondragón disappeared from the Vista Hills subdivision of Rio Rancho around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Her foster parents told the Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety that she changed out of her pajamas into regular clothes, and when they looked out the window, they saw taillights going down the street.
They said Mondragón needs medication, but authorities said it wouldn't be life-threatening if she didn't have it.
Police are concerned that someone may take advantage of her.
Mondragón is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 215 pounds.
If you have any information, you're asked to call the Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety at (505) 891-7226.

RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- Rio Rancho police continue to look for a missing 15-year-old girl.
Police said that Destiny Mondragon has developmental disabilities that cause her to function like a 5-year-old.
"She changed out of her pajamas into her clothing that night. She went out the door and has not been seen since," said spokesman John Francis.

Police think Mondragon's family may have taken her from the foster treatment home where she'd lived for just a day.
"We've been following up on leads in Colorado and in Northern New Mexico, but we haven't had any real luck. We do believe she may be with family or that family may be hiding her out," Francis said.
Mondragon's parents lost custody of her in 2006.
Police said that if her parents have her, they could be charged with kidnapping.

Police ask public to help
Destiny Mondragon, a 15-year old Rio Rancho female juvenile, is still missing.
Rio Rancho police spokesman John Francis said the case is under investigation and the department has contacted the Center of Missing and Exploited Children and the FBI.
He said the police are working on several leads and said it is possible she could now be out of state.
Francis said Mondragon’s parents’ natural birthrights were terminated in 2006.
Mondragon is mentally challenged and is reported to have wandered off from her foster home in the Vista Hills subdivision on Feb. 17. She is said to have the mental capacity of a 5-year-old and is in need of medication.
Anyone with information is asked to call Rio Rancho police at 891-7226.

Apparently she ran away again and is now deceased.
Albuquerque Journal (New Mexico)
October 14, 2009 Wednesday
Slain Teenage Girl Was Suspect's Sister;
16-Year-Old Runaway Had Been in State Care
Authorities say the girl allegedly killed by an 18-year-old Las Vegas, N.M., man in Colorado earlier this week was his younger sister.
Joseph Daniel Mascarenas was arrested Monday after the body of Destiny Mondragon, his 16-year-old sister, was found that morning in a motel parking lot in an unincorporated part of Adams County, Colo., east of Denver.
Romaine Serna, spokeswoman for the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, said Tuesday that Mondragon had been in a foster home and ran away early this past summer. Her biological parents' rights had been terminated.
Mascarenas and other siblings also had been part of the foster care system, Serna said. CYFD's involvement with the family started as a case in San Miguel County.
Mascarenas is being held for investigation of second-degree murder in an Adams County jail.
Serna said authorities in Colorado told CYFD that the brother and sister got into an argument and "allegedly he beat her to death."
The Adams County Sheriff's Office wouldn't provide more details of the case Tuesday, other than to confirm that the victim was Mascare- nas' sister.
It will be CYFD that brings the body back to New Mexico and arranges a funeral, Serna said.
A spokeswoman for the Adams County sheriff had said Monday there was "a disturbance" in the parking lot before a medical call came in at 6 a.m. Monday. The girl was pronounced dead after being transferred to an area hospital.
Mondragon also was reported missing in February 2008, when she was placed on the national data base of missing persons by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities said then that her natural parents' rights had been terminated in 2006.
Mondragon was reported then as mentally challenged and on medication, and authorities said she had apparently wandered off from her foster home in Rio Rancho.
She was found in March 2008. She was located with mother in Denver, according to news reports.
