The last time anyone saw Oliveiro Fernandez was around 2130 hours (9:30pm) on Monday night while he was at work. When the ship pulled into port in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, he was gone. Fernandez worked as an an assistant cook on the ship.
The ship pulled into Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale around 0015 hours (12:15 a.m)
The U.S. Coast Guard is searching the waters off Florida looking for Fernandez who is presumed overboard. A search of the ship did not locate him, and the U.S. Coast Guard was notified.
HH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami and crewmembers from Station Fort Lauderdale, Fla., are involved in the search.
Island Adventure is a 512 foot gambling ship. These cruise are considered day casino cruises. The ship left at 19:30 hours (7:30pm) and was scheduled to return at 0030 hours (12:30am).
