MOUNT JULIET, Tenn. -- Human remains found in Mount Juliet earlier this month have solved a mystery.

The remains are the body of Wilson County resident Trisha Meador, who has been missing for almost a year.

Meador, who was bipolar, was last seen alive in April 2007.

A man walking his dog found Meador's remains in a wooded area behind his home.

Police said they don't have a cause of death yet.

The remains of a woman found this month in Mt. Juliet have been identified as Trisha Meador.

Meador was 26 when she was reported missing last May. Her skeleton was found in a residential but wooded area between Rutland Road and Hilltop Drive, according to police chief James Hambrich.

“The actual cause of death has not been determined yet,” Hambrich said.

Her body was completely decomposed and her skull detached from the skeleton. But Hambrich said that doesn’t seem to indicate she was decapitated, but is probably due to animals.

He said there was no indication of foul play when Meador was first reported missing.

“Right now, we don’t know anything other than, she lived three or four blocks from the area where the remains were found,” Hambrich said.

I'm not the smartest person in the world, but if I was the police, the area near her home would have been the first place I would have searched when she was reported missing. What does this say about the efforts of Mt. Juliet Police?

This is sad, she was found so close to her home and was there over a year. :(
