'Flip This House' star indicted in Travis County
http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/metro/stories/MYSA022208.fliphouse.EN.1a99226d.html

Trina, I saw this and posted for you and other Flip That House fans. The brothers still live here in San Antonio. David is divorced, in a law suit for a questionable real estate deal, Armando wrote a book "Flip It Now", tried to sell it for $200 per book, and I saw the books on Ebay the other day. Armando is also in the middle of a divorce, too.

I didn't know about the lawsuits by NEISD and Bexar County against them. Wow!

I guess the economy worsened for these guys sooner then the rest of the country. :D

However, news from other areas of the country and world doesn't always reach our media outlets in San Antonio as soon as other cities. :rolleye0001:

Well - Flip This house and Flip That house are actually different shows. I remember these guys - they looked shady right from the start - Armando looked really too slick and a little slimy. I liked the original Flip organization - Richard Davis or some such? They seemed like they would cut corners on buracracy sometimes, but were honest and tried to give back to a fair degree.

I loved the shows with Richard Davis. I checked his company out and he has a good rep. Armando has a stormy temper and macho BS attitude. IMO

Oh yeah - I forgot the macho BS - he had a huge case of that. Took just a few minutes of watching to decide the episodes with these idiots would not be fun.

Well I liked to watch Armando in action, he was so mean to all he contractors...I was surprised any of them stayed. I thought Veronica was really pretty. I liked David better since the show where he wouldn't just paint over the cockroach infested walls. I think that is right before the brothers parted ways.
I know they were shady, but sometimes it's fun to watch.
I wish the Veronica and Malina good luck!

So far neither Montelongo has filed Bankruptcy. But just in case, these marriages are ending at a good time for the ladies and their kids. JMO

Did Armando and Veronica still have one little boy and David and Malina have just the one girl?

I liked Richards team the best also.

I wonder if these divorces are so they can keep some of their capital? To me it just sounds like something Armando would do.

Actually, the women filed. Unless the women are officers of the corporations and shown as such in the formation of the business and corporation in the State of Texas, the guys would have no problem keeping the capital in their companies. However, they do have to pay child support, and if the marriage was 10 yrs or more, the X-Wife can ask for alimony. Texas is community property and otherwise not an alimony state, unless requested and the marriage lasted 10 or more years.

Trina: Armando has one boy (he calls Mando Man), and David has 2 kids, boy & girl, but I can't remember their names.

What I meant was to hide it from lawsuits and bankrupcy court. If they divorce and the women take half. I have seen alot of speculation as to Hulk Hogan and his wife doing the same thing.

I read in one of my trash mags yesterday that the cause of Hulk's divorce was Linda's drinking. But if I remember correctly she filed,, so I doubt that is the case. I heard they decided on divorce to save half of their money from their son's accident lawsuit.
Hum I wonder how long Armonda and Veronica have been married, same with David. See here in MI, we just don't get much news about them.
I like the Richard Flip Show also, they seem much more up and up. I've seen them do some really cool charity jobs. I like the girl, but can't recall her name.

Thus far, the producers of Flip This House have been unwilling to show viewers less than successful results. As the market declines, property flippers across the country are suddenly finding that they’ve overbuilt, overpaid, or overestimated demand in their areas. Now is a perfect opportunity for A&E to show the bad, as well as the good.

Failure can often be more educational than success.

If you go to the link for the article, you can scroll down and look at each property individually. Montelongo Developments LLC is David's Company. Montelongo Aquisitions and Mandoman Management is Armamdo's companies.

Never cared for the Montelongo's - they seemed, at times, "ethically challenged" to me. Not to mention I couldn't stand the way the older one would talk to the workers at times.

Richard Davis' Trademark group is much more my cup of tea. They are out to make a profit too but not at the expense of their good name. I've never seen them try and "get out" of making necessary repairs or covering up problems like I've seen on the Montelongo episodes more than once. The biggest difference I see between the Montelongo's and Trademark is that Trademark will take a cut in their profit to ensure that their customer is getting a good home and not being taken advantage of. Seemed to me that the Montelongo's too often just tried to rip people off to make a buck.

JMHO

Do you remember the show where the Montelongo's started working on a house (upstairs apt/downstairs apt) and they had not bothered to get their permits? In fact, the City of San Antonio had already condemned the building. He had some people coming in to provide him with capital for the job and didn't want them to know and almost got caught by them.

It was at that moment, I realized they were shady and crooked. IMO

If Armando doesn't settle his lawsuits and make some payments of money, he can start a show, "Flip That Jail".

Yes...I remember that episode....shady. I gotta say I thought they were arrogant and shady from the very first episode - the one where they needed to get their picture taken and Armondo gave a $0 budget for this. I remember thinking just how cheap is this guy? And I wondered what else he was cheap about - I certainly wouldn't buy a "flipped" house from him. I'm not against saving money when possible but not at the expense of ripping someone else off.

yeah the zero budget was for their photo for advertising. Malana took the challenge, wasn't even set back by her zero budget.
Okay, I know they are shady, but I still liked to watch the show. To me their show and Richards show is two different shows. Richards seem much more professional and legit.

I watched an Armando flip yesterday. It was one where Armando and his foreman took one side of the house and Victoria and a contractor took the other side of the house. The bet was on and the losers were to die their hair blonde and red. Well Armando ran into some mold issues and he had to die his hair blonde...it wasn't pretty!
Funny, watching the episode you could clearly tell that Armando and Victoria were no longer happily married, but it was still fun to watch. His brother Dave and wife were not on the show at all.

I just saw an issue of San Antonio Scene (it's magazine about people in the social scene) where they did a story on him and his wife before they split.

I watched that same show. During the show his intern was going to cut corners since he had learned from the best. Luckily, the sheet rock had to be pulled out and the mold fixed!

I wonder if A&E Network actually know about the indictment. Its a felony if he is convicted and could give him up to 10 yrs in prison. Unless he makes some type of plea bargain or pays the people.

Correct. It was another guy and he competed with the Black couple who were about to have a baby one season. She and her husband were good at flipping and didn't cut corners. The guy that was a shiester would spy on them at night, whatever he could do to find out what they were doing. Also the guy treated his vendors really bad like Armando in San Antonio.

Ginger and her boss are in NC or SC, I can't remember which one. But they are well respected and not only flip houses, but have graduated to Condos and Townhomes.
