THIS is a joke. The girl was only 10. I am fuming about this.

Nine men who pleaded guilty to the gang-rape of a 10-year-old girl in the remote Aurukun Aboriginal community have evaded a prison term, with the sentencing judge saying the girl "probably agreed" to have sex with them.

That is just gross. No child would ever agree to that.

This makes me mad, a baby, not knowing nothing about the world, has... agreed. She had no understanding of right and wrong at that age, especially about men. What has happen to our world for something like this. These so call men are creeps.....

:lex_10:Why would the prosecuter recommend a sentence like that. A ten year old girl doesn't know enough yet to be willing. Hands downto the judge. shame on you.

Our 'new' Prime Minster. Kevin Rudd is enraged. Now we wait and see if anything is done.

We do have Carnal knowledge laws here. These have not been acted on either.

GW's buddy John Howard just had his behind whooped in our elections.

There is a poll Here (http://news.ninemsn.com.au)

The question is:-
Is a suspended sentence fair for the rape of a 10-year-old?

Yes = 2332
No = 73865

Qld A-G to appeal gang-rape sentences

Queensland's Attorney-General Kerry Shine says he will appeal sentences handed down against nine males who gang-raped a 10-year-old girl in 2005.

Premier Anna Bligh has ordered all Cape York sexual offence sentences to be reviewed, to ensure there was not a trend of leniency.

This is the same girl.

The child was gang-raped at the age of seven in the Cape York community of Aurukun in 2002, and was later put into foster care with a non-indigenous family in Cairns.

However, child safety officers in April 2006 returned her to Aurukun, where she was raped again at the age of 10.

It's not hard to talk a ten year old into agreeing. Heck, an ice cream would be enough. What does a ten year old know really?

yeah and if she's already had a similar experience, maybe she doesn't think it's as horribly wrong and abnormal as we do...

I don't get this man of justice who vowed to uphold the law, be fair and balanced and tell these boys the "girl probably agreed" to being raped. What 10 y/o is adult enough to make that decision?

Why is that judge till presiding over cases?

If that were my child, and I heard him spew those belittling words about my child, I would not stop until that robe he wore, adorned his head! I would call for his dismissal, immediately, if not sooner.

How outrageous!:000:

That poor child! How can she ever have a normal life? And that idiot judge needs to be sent to prison and gang raped. Let's see if he agrees to it. :mad:

Culture? This was a 10 y/o child, how does she have the experience or mentality to agree to being gang raped? Three were over 17, don't you think they should have known better? That 24 y/o what the hell could he have gotten out of a 10 y/o child.

I suppose defending these actions just takes us back a few centuries, eh!

Outrageous, anyway it's sliced.:000:

Laughing at myself...Yes, I do tend to get worked up...lol...to think a child would have any understanding of such a thing at all...Just a sore spot with me. Children can be so easily talked into sex and made to believe they had agreed to the deal. Is why so much guilt for them. Is why the dirty secret is kept so many years...Sad but true.

For sure. Leeway is given when dealing with aboriginal matters.

The abuse of women is embedded in the aboriginal culture.

There has been a move to change this and this dipstick of a judge is undermining all the good work done.

I agree, but it could also be what both you and Xainia both posted. Cultures. We all know that in some countries that women are not treated with respect. Has to start somwhere so I'm sure from when girls are young.
