I thought they didn't want him stationed there since he would be a prime target being a Royal and because of that would endanger his men. I guess if they wanted to keep it a secret, its out now.

I read earlier, can't remember where, that he was really disappointed they weren't going to let him go. But apparently behind the scenes they were working on it so that he could go without the public knowing it.
I'm wondering how the leaks found out he's there.

Harry is way down the line before he would be able to take the throne. Thats why he has this "I don't give a sh*t attitude that just drives the Royals mad."
I love that about him.

Whoever leaked this information needs to answer for it somehow. No one has the right to do something like this. These young men are in a dangerous situation to begin with. Then to let it be knows that he is there. Now you just took it from a dangerous situation to an almost guarantee some nut job is going to do some serious damage. You not only raised this young man's risk, but you have now raised it for all that serve with him.

Diana taught her sons that there people and situations outside of the Royal family that would never even know or have the luxuries or fortunate life the boys have. Had it not been for Diana, I don't think they would know how to be a humanitarian.
There will never be another Diana. IMO

rofl................my first thought also:shock:
that's real risky for something like his location to be leaked. I wonder if the ''confident'' of Princess Diana's who just got caught on tape for lying at her inquest would be behind the leak?
shamefull behavior on media end!

When it was first out that he was going was when my husband was getting ready to leave. He was so upset because he figured that they would have more EID's and bombings then normal and shooting at any US or English Army just in hopes of getting the prince. It's not just Harry's life... it's every Soldier over there because they're not going to take the time to hunt him out specifically.
Then it turned out he didn't go then but the hush was that he'd be there doing something.

I agree with you about the media, but it doesn't look like that is ever going to happen. Gone are the days when a president could have a mistress and no one (of the common people) knew it.

I have to agree with Ro on this one. They sit up there and tell the terrorists where our weaknesses are every single day. Now, some idiot has leaked this, and not only their men, but our men are in even more danger.
There is no reason for this. Yes, the people have a right to know, but we don't need to know everything!

Your're correct. But I don't think Queen Elizabeth will ever die. Then Charles will be on the thrown until he dies (if he doesn't go before his mom goes), then Prince William. However, due to the long life of the Royals, Prince Harry may never be King. At least not in my lifetime. IMO

Thanks. He'll be heading home in the next 50 - 60 days... it keeps getting moved around. Then he'll be home for a year before he heads back with his home unit (he volunteered for this one).
Completely off topic but I'm so excited I gotta share.
My hubby graduated basic training in April 06. Hubby went in in October of 05... and sprained his ankle the 3rd day there,so bad that when he came home for Christmas 2 months later the foot and leg were still black and blue (up to his knee). Later he fractured his wrist and got strep throat, bronchitis and a nasal infection. While he was there we were having a rough time. His drill instructor really took him in and helped out with personal issues and really made him see that he could do this and was worthwhile. He managed through all the injuries and graduated on time. They were all impressed with the severity of his injuries he kept going and he actually got written up for continuing to drill when they wanted him to stop.
Well Hubby wants to go visit when he gets back from Iraq and we've been planning it. Then I emailed the Drill Sgt and asked if he'd be willing to come out here for a surprise party and I'd pay for his wife and his airfare (it'd still be cheaper than us going there).
I got an email back this morning... he's not sure if they can come do to transferring and his wife in school but he's going to try and will keep in contact with me.
THEN he says...
We will consider coming. I can't promise just yet.
SPC W is the most loyal Soldier I have seen in years, and I have seen many Soldiers. He was one of my best Soldiers and we enjoyed training him. Hope to talk to you guys soon.
Respectfully,
Drill Sgt.
My husband was always told he was no good and wouldn't amount to anything. He'd wanted to join the military after school but his parents wouldn't allow it and told him even if they let him, he'd fail. (I really hate those people).
It just makes me feel good that a Drill Sgt would actually say something like that - he had no reason too in the email to me so I know it was sincere.
I knew they talked still and kept in contact - actually the DS called hubby's cell phone 6 times in 2 months after he left for Iraq because he hadn't heard from him. He also had emailed him that nothing had better happen to him because he was a good Soldier. But this email was very nice to read this morning.
I'm going to keep the email and put it in the scrapbook.

Apparently, it was leaked by Matt Drudge - the English papers knew about it; but, agreed to keep it quiet. I like the Drudge Report - in fact, I use it as my home page - but, he should NOT have done this. Harry is 3rd in line for the throne and now he will have to come home. Too dangerous for him and the people around him.
God bless all the soldiers in Harms Way - my nephew will be leaving for Iraq in a few days.

I agree with you. I think it's awful. It does put all the men with him in more danger. they shouldn't have done that. This is from the link;
The news embargo was broken, however, after reports of the prince's deployment were leaked by an Australian magazine and a German newspaper, and then reported on a U.S. Web site, the Drudge Report.
Dannatt, the military commander, said he was "very disappointed" that the story had leaked.

However this Australian magazine edition was from January 15th that Drudge claims it was in. It is almost two months on from there so kinda hard to blame it onto the Aussies for something he has caused imo

And because it leaked, he'll be removed from Afghanistan. I really think it's very honorable, a very nice thing to see, that the British Royals actually have their children in harms way in the wars they fight. Shows a lot more commitment, belief, honesty than just sending the children of the poor. And should make for better leaders, when the time comes for them to lead.

Harry is on the way back here now. I guess for a while at least he managed to do what he dreamt of doing and serving alongside his men. I think it will make a lot in my country see him differently now. Im pleased that for his sake he managed to it but it makes me so mad what this Drudge guy has done. Harry was doing a job and all our media know and kept it secret. They didnt want to but they did so for Harrys safety and the safety of the guys he was alongside. It was agreed that the media would be given updates regularly if they didnt say anything. He had been there for TEN weeks with no problems and then some guy has to open his mouth about it all. And i dont get it. About a year ago I was told about Geraldo drawing in the sand where your troops were and i thought he was a big joke for putting your guys lives at risk and now there is another one putting peoples lives at risk. As soon as Drudge released that Harry could have been kidnapped and the men with him. So firstly we have their lives at risk and im pretty sure the SAS etc would have been sent to try and find him and probably loads of others so all there lives could been at risk. And for what exactly? And actually I have a idea had they got Harry they would have just beheaded him for the publicity anyhow. Maybe people should think before they put so many peoples lives at risk :(

Not Drudge. He's just a rumormonger. He gets some scoops - mixed in with a huge hash of bad information, slanted stories, and flat out lies. Anything that he likes is published, whether true or not, whether it's responsible to publish that info or not. Someday, some scientist could come up with a way to make an atom bomb in 5 minutes out of household products, and he'd publish the recipe.

I don't understand why they'd have Harry in combat anyway, especially if they were interviewing him and cameras were following him around. If he wanted to go and be an anonymous soldier, the cameras should have been left behind. He went, and his experiences were documented so that the world could see what he was doing in combat and say what a wonderful young man he is.
I don't doubt that he's a brave young man, but he should have been left to do his duty without the cameras documenting it for future viewing.

Actually the reason that was done was so the media would keep there mouth shut about where he was....but unfortunately thanks to Drudge that didnt happen. The cameras were NOT with him all the time just on occassions as per the agreement with the media.

Sorry - I read this from the beginning, and should have quoted. I was just agreeing that unfortunately, Charles will almost certainly become King - if Queen Elizabeth EVER gets off the throne.
I am not much of a monarchist myself, but I quite like Prince Harry, and he pretty much admitted in an interview that he was more than happy being away from the UK. In our current economic and social climate (although it obviously doesn't have a direct effect on him), I can't say I blame him!
