MALDEN, Mass. — Authorities say the death of a woman whose body was found in a parked car in Malden is being treated as a homicide.
Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone said the investigation is in its early stages and detectives are talking to a number of people who may have information about the case.
Jules Dorce said he was told by police that the body was that of his sister, 37-year-old Norma Dorce Gills, who owned a beauty salon in Malden.
Dorce told The Boston Globe that he last spoke to his sister two weeks ago. A missing persons poster with Gills' picture had been put up on the door of the salon.
Police did not immediately confirm the identity of the body, which was found Wednesday afternoon in a car on Faulkner Street.

MALDEN (WBZ) ― An Everett man was arrested Friday in the death of a Lynn woman whose body was found this week in the trunk of a car in Malden, police and the Middlesex district attorney said.
Lesly Cheremond, 48, was taken into custody late Friday afternoon outside his apartment on Stuart Street in Everett.
Cheremond was charged with murder. He will be arraigned Monday in Malden District Court, District Attorney Gerry Leone said.
"We believe that this is another instance in which an ex-boyfriend resorted to deadly violence against his former girlfriend," Leone said.
Norma Dorce Gilles, 41, hadn't been seen or heard from since Feb. 13, when she left Scruple, the hair salon she owned on Salem Street in Malden.
Police discovered Gilles' car Wednesday afternoon on Faulkner Street, not far from the salon. Her body was found in the trunk.
Au autopsy showed Gilles had been strangled, the district attorney said.

Lesly Cheremond, 48, of Everett was arrested late Friday afternoon outside his apartment on Stuart Street.
Cheremond is charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend, Norma Dorce Gilles. He pled not guilty to those charges on Monday in Malden District Court.
Prosecutor say Cheremond threatened Gilles about a week before she disappeared when he saw her with her new boyfriend.
However Cheremond's defense attorney, James Budreau, says the prosecution's case is circumstantial
"We believe that this is another instance in which an ex-boyfriend resorted to deadly violence against his former girlfriend," District Attorney Gerry Leone said after Cheremond's arrest on Friday.
Gilles, 41, hadn't been seen or heard from since Feb.
Last year, Gilles took out a restraining order against Cheremond in connection with an alleged assault in February 2007. He's scheduled to be tried in April for aggravated assault and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in that case.
Cheremond owns the record store next door to Gilles' salon. His landlord, Anthony Cammarta, said he knew the couple had been having difficulties, but he never expected anything like this.
"I know they were having some problems, but nothing to this extent," he said.
Police told WBZ they have been to the two businesses on several occasions to deal with that situation.
