Sitter Charged In Tortured Baby Case

This has been a prominent (and agonizingly sad) story down here for the last few days.

"NEW ORLEANS -- Bogalusa police said they arrested a baby sitter, Amy Leighann, 22, Wednesday in the case of a baby who was beaten, burned and drugged."

"EMTs rushed 6-week-old Diana Nelson to the hospital when police received a 911 call around 1:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, doctors also said they would have final determinations made Thursday of whether Nelson's brain still functions."

The newscaster just said the hospital is saying there is only 1 in 100 chance for this baby to survive.

How sick and evil can a person be to hurt a little innocent baby? When I hear of and see things like this, it just reinforces my support for the death penalty. :mad:

"Lindsey Daigle, 19, gave drugs to her 14-month-old daughter, according to police. Officers said they were informed of the allegations during the continuing investigation of baby Diana Daigle’s death.

Drug tests confirmed her daughter had been given drugs, according to the Office of Community Services, which ordered the testing.

Officers said Diana’s mother admitted to giving her older daughter “controlled, dangerous substances.”
