Knowing that this was the one year anniversary of Jamie's disappearance, I went looking for updates.
Needless to say I was pleased to find this one.

PAXTON – One year ago today, 20-year-old Jamie Harper left her home in Paxton for a party in Rantoul, never to be seen by her family again.
After a year's worth of extensive searches in a three-county area, police still have hope they will find the missing woman, but they need the public's help.

"We know there is at least one person out there who knows what happened to Jamie and knows where she's at," Police Chief Bob Bane said. "We want to plead to them to come forward so the family can have closure to this, or locate her."

Though tips are still being received by area police officers involved in the investigation, Rantoul police Sgt. Jeff Wooten said as time passes it becomes more difficult to follow up on leads.

"People tend to forget things ... and unfortunately as time goes by, any signs that she may have been at specific locations, we lose that evidence," Wooten said. "We lose the potential of tracking her or finding her the longer this takes."

Wooten said the Rantoul Police Department, the primary agency investigating the disappearance, is aggressively pursuing all leads. Tips are still being received periodically, and he still hopes police will find Harper alive.

He said there has been a fairly consistent flow of information that would indicate Harper's disappearance was not voluntary but would not disclose if police have any suspects.

Because there are no specific locations that police intend to search, Wooten said there are no immediate plans to bring in the Texas EquuSearch Team for assistance in finding Harper. The search team successfully recovered the body of missing Sadorus woman Naomi Arnette last October.
However, "if additional information came in that would lead us to a specific location," police would call the Equusearch search team, Wooten said. "For situations like that, the more resources, the better."

In response to a tip, police most recently searched a private property and the banks of the Middle Fork River near Armstrong in Vermilion County last October.

In April, police and volunteers also searched an area in Ford County southeast of Paxton known as Dogtown, using boats, sonar equipment and dogs to search water-filled gravel pits around the secluded wooded area.

A search had previously been conducted in Champaign County at the place Harper was last seen – a residence in Rantoul – as well as roads and bodies of water in an area between Paxton and Rantoul, Wooten said.

Harper was last seen leaving a party in Rantoul during the early morning hours Saturday, March 10, 2007, and has had no contact with family or friends since. She left her mother's house with a male companion and traveled to the party the evening of March 9. Police have said the male companion is not a suspect in Harper's disappearance.

Harper, a Caucasian, stands 5 feet tall, weighs about 130 pounds, has brown hair and eyes, wears a "tribal" tattoo on the small of her back and a nose ring in her left nostril. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white jacket, sandals and carrying a black handbag.

Anyone with information about Harper's whereabouts is asked to call the Paxton Police Department (379-4315), Rantoul Police Department (892-2103), Champaign County Crimestoppers (373-8477) or the Ford County Crimestoppers hot line (784-4173). Crimestoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward.

Bane said his officers constantly think of the missing woman.

Wooten said he sympathizes with Harper's family.

"(Harper's mother) has had a pretty tough time, and certainly understandably so," he said. "We certainly would like to get this solved for her."

YVW Grande and thank you Harlett for the edit

It is nice to know that she hasn't been forgotten. Jamie and Heather are both on my mind alot and I frequently try to find updates.
Even tho they disappeared 10 yrs apart I can't help but think there is a connection.

I think of them both often as well. I check almost everyday for updates.

I'm not quite sure how to take that latest article. To me it almost suggests they are referring to Josh rather than Jeromy. Perhaps they mean Josh knows what Jeromy did. I also think that may be the case, give Josh current flight from justice. His warrant is still active...

Thanks for the update, Pink Pony. It is good to know that they are still working on her case.

Nothing like the truth to set a mind free.

Neighbors Losing Hope In Harper Search

(PAXTON)---Hope is alive, But fading In the town of Paxton 20-year old Jamie Harper was last seen in Rantoul exactly one year ago. Since her disappearance, friends, family and investigators have been searching for answers, but still no sign of her. Many say they still wonder what happened to Harper, but feel the chances of finding out are slimmer each day that goes by. The 20-year old went missing on March 9th of last year. People say they last saw her at a house party in Rantoul. Since then it's been a constant guessing game as to what happened that night. Police searches have brought up nothing, although they continue to follow up on leads. People in town say time is running out. "I think it makes you loose hope.” Says family friend Charlotte Schroeder “I think it's definitely surprising that they can't come up with anything. Not somebody else that saw her after the party, not some article of clothing. Something." She says. Schroeder says anytime they loose a member of their town it's a tragedy. She just can't believe it was the girl she used to have in daycare many years ago. Other friends like former classmate Krista Duffin don’t think they’ll ever see Harper alive again. "At first I was like oh my, she's going to come back. She's been gone for just a little bit, but she'll come back. And then after a couple months I was like she's not coming back." When they were in High School, Duffin and Harper used to go out a lot. "Sometimes we'd go to Mahomet.. all over and just not come back for a day or two..” She says “We didn't think it was a big deal then.” Missing flyers coat Paxton as well as Rantoul. Investigators say this is still an open investigation and they continue to follow up on leads.

Jamie disappeared from Ward P Birch's 'party'. Josh Nibbe was dating Jamie at the time and claims he left the party. Unfortunately he left her in bad hands imo. Jeromy Ramm is a POI in another missing persons case from the area, that of Heather Zimmerman. Now appx. 10 years later as luck would have it, he is one of the guests at Ward Birch's 'party'. From that point on no one knows what happened to Jamie.

Some other interesting nuggets I discovered;

* Josh Nibbe is currently on the run. He has an active warrant out of Champaign County, IL.

* His brother, Ryan Nibbe was released from IDOC shorltly after Jamie's disappearance. Within 1 or 2 weeks he was charged and convicted of assault against one Ward P. Birch. One is left to wonder what the motive was for the aforementioned assault. IMO, it is probably related to Jamie's disappearance. Was Ward 'roughed up' in order to 'persuade' him to keep his mouth shut? You be the judge, it seems fairly likely imo. Ryan Nibbe is now back in IDOC for violating the terms of his parole as a result of that incident.

* Ryan and Josh Nibbe's younger brother 'J.D.' has been known to brag to his Rantoul classmates about how his elder brother killed a girl and got away with it.

* Jeromy Ramm and Heather Zimmerman's ex-husband at the time, Michael Zimmerman are known acquaintances. They were arrested together as juveniles for underage drinking.

There's lots of little interesting tidbits, I am hoping they result in a conviction and closure for Jamie's mother.

URBANA – A man with ties to Champaign County was charged Monday with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly committing sex acts with a teen runaway from Arizona.

Ryan Nibbe, 28, for whom authorities listed addresses in Tucson, Ariz., and Rantoul, is scheduled to be back in Champaign County Circuit Court on Dec. 4. State's Attorney Julia Rietz said Nibbe was arrested Thursday in north Urbana about 1 p.m. by Illinois State Police who pulled his vehicle over for a traffic violation on U.S. 45 near Kenyon Road.
