Jason Roark,a Iraq Vet, was last seen at the Gwinnett Inn located in the 4100 block of Hwy 78 in Lilburn, Georgia on Thursday, November 9th, 2006.

Roark served two tours of duty in Iraq. He was captured on surveillance video at a Gwinnett County motel, on November 9th. His He talked with his family everyday so there is great concern for his welfare.

There has been many searches for him with not clue what happened. Police found no evidence of a crime.

If Jason Roark is still alive, he will turn 28 years old next Tuesday.

Roark, a former psychological operations soldier and Iraq War veteran, went missing a year ago after a drunken night with a friend at a Snellville hotel.

His family has not seen him since.

His mother still pays his cell phone bill, just in case, but she said she's losing hope. Terry Roark often refers to her son Jason in the past tense. Still, she doesn't want the police and the public to forget that her son is still out there, somewhere, missing or dead.

Cpl. Illana Spellman, spokeswoman for the Gwinnett County Police Department, said police are investigating Roark's disappearance as a missing persons case — not a homicide. She said it is an active investigation but declined to comment further other than to say that investigators have no new leads.

Roark said she hasn’t been able to get “any” cooperation from Gwinnett County Police, who is handling the case.

“In fact I’ve been told by a detective not to call up there again unless I can put Jason’s body on the desk,” she said. “They won’t tell me anything and they won’t turn over Jason’s cell phone or records although we know calls were made on it since he’s been missing.”

But Roark said the information on the surveillance tape was uncovered by members of the Texas search team Equusearch ,brought in by the family last year to help in the search, and the car was discovered by the private detective they hired.

“We turned it over to the police and I had to pay $2,000 to get it back,” Roark said. “There were no fingerprints in the car, not even Jason’s, and the private detective took 37 bags of evidence after we got the car back that police had missed. How can anyone not suspect foul play when the car had been wiped clean of fingerprints?”

Roark said the private investigator interviewed witnesses at the rest stop where her son’s car was found and were told the vehicle was seen being driven by a black male.

“But those witnesses haven’t been interviewed by the police,” Roark said. “It’s very frustrating.”

The family calls his cell phone every two hours and once, for a 26-hour period a couple of weeks ago, the phone was switched back on. But police didn’t get to trace its location and it’s now switched off again.

Would the phone not have pinged a tower at being turned back on? :waitasec:

I then called my private inv asap. he then turned around and call the det. on the case and he never called back so he then called the desk sgt to have him get in contact with the det and he did and was told that he did not want to deal with this on the weekend and would check it out on moday. his phone was on for about 72 hours and was then turned off. we do that they never followed up on the cell phone that we do know was used in morgan county the same county where jays card was found. we have also been informed that there is a federal seal on his cell records and no one is allowed to see the activity on the phone. my private det has been asking for the info so that he can follow up on it but they will nver give him the info. no one cal tell us why there is a federal seal on these calls but we are not allowed to know why. there is evidence that there was a large black male behind the wheel of his car when it was left at the rest stop on 20 and we also know that there were no prints in the car not even his so we questioned this and we were told that this is not uncommon but how can someone drve a car every day and his prints not be in the car.

I remember this case from back in the beginning when Jason first went missing. It was impossible to find any media news on the case. Never could understand how there is a young man that served his country for two years in Iraq and so little news! I really hate it for his family.

Hopefully, there is more activity going on with LE than is revealed. Strange that Jason's mother is not given updates on the case on a regular basis.

When I was involved in Justin's Gaines case when he went missing. Jason's mom come to the forum and we learned of Jason missing at that time.

WE NEED HELP GETTING THIS STORY OUT AGAIN TO TRY AND GET THE COMMUNITY TO SEE IF WE CAN GET SOMEONE TO GIVE US INFO ON THIS CASE. THE LAW STATES THAT IF THERE IS NO CLEAR EVIDENCE OF FOWL PLAY THEY DO NOT HAVE TO LOOK FOR AN AULT. GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (MyFOX Atlanta) – The mother of a military veteran who went missing more than a year and a half ago said Saturday that she hoped to take her search to Congress. Jason Roark was last seen in November of 2006.

Not only is Roark's family hoping to find him, his graduating class from North Cobb High School has also tried to help. Roark's schoolmates are holding a benefit concert for the missing soldier Sunday night and he was honored Saturday night at his 10 year class reunion.

On November 9, 2006, Roark was last seen leaving a Gwinnett County motel and has been missing ever since.

Sixteen months later, Roark's mother said she still hoped to find her missing son. Roark was honored Saturday night at his 10 year class reunion.

"We really want some answers. We're ready to assist and aid his parents in any way we can to help find him," said classmate Belinda Fant.

Sunday, Roark's classmates will hold a benefit in the missing soldier's honor to help raise money so his mother can take her cause to Washington.

Roark's mother, Terry said she hoped Congress will pass "Kristin's Bill," which would give government assistance to families searching for loved ones.

"Kristin's Law for me would help with funding. It's very expensive to help look for loved ones. When the police don't have leads, it's up to private investigators," said Terry Roark.

Terry Roark still doesn't know what happened to her son. His car was found a month after he disappeared.

The 27-year-old Roark had served two years in Iraq and had been back a year when he disappeared. Roark's mother said she wanted a nationwide database to keep her son's DNA on file so if remains are found there will be a way to identify him.

"This can happen to you tomorrow and if you want to help find your loved one, we've got to pass these laws and get these changed," said Terry Roark.

Gwinnett County investigators said Saturday that there have been no leads in Roark's case.

This young man did not just fall off the face of the earth. It still amazes me that no local news channels ever cover this story! Lillburn Georgia is not very far at all from where Justin Gaines disappeared. Makes me wonder if there could be a connection in this case. Sure hope that LE has looked into this possibility.

Gwinnett County police, state trying to identify skeleton

Investigators are trying to identify the skeletal remains of a man found in some Gwinnett County woods near Georgia 316, police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said Tuesday.

The cause of death also remains a mystery.

Schiralli said employees of a tree service were working in some woods near the Barrow County line Monday morning when they found the scattered bones.

The remains have been sent to the state Crime Lab at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for identification and cause of death.

Gwinnett police said in a news release dental records indicated, however, that the remains are not of Justin Gaines, who disappeared November 2007. Gaines, an 18-year-old student at the Oconee County campus of Gainesville College, when a friend dropped him off at Wild Bill’s nightclub in Duluth late on Nov. 1, 2007. A few hours later, around 2 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2007, he called several friends, unsuccessfully trying to find someone to give him a ride home.

No one spoke to him after those early-morning phone calls.
