Wolfe City woman still missing
By BRAD KELLAR
Herald-Banner Staff
It has been almost one month since Lisa Chandler disappeared from her home near Wolfe City.
Despite a reward being offered, and several calls which resulted in false hopes, no trace of the woman has turned up in the weeks since.
“We haven’t heard a thing,” Hunt County Chief Deputy Robert White said Friday.
The Texas Department of Public Safety currently lists Chandler as “endangered”, according to the agency’s “Missing Persons Clearing House” Web site (www.txdps.state.tx.us/mpch/MissingPersons.asp?Date=new).
The family, who hails from Louisiana and Florida, has posted a $1,000 reward for information about Chandler, who disappeared from her home on Highway 34 North on the weekend of Sept. 22-24.
White said there have been many calls of reported sightings of Walker, none of which have been verified. There is also a lot of talk among the community about what might, or might not, have happened.
“I’ve heard five different rumors, none of which are true,” White said.
Family members believe Chandler may have begun walking south along Highway 34 toward Greenville from her residence and may have been picked up by a passing motorist. Sheriff’s investigators were able to track his mother’s scent with bloodhounds five miles along the highway before the trail ended.
Chandler was last heard from around 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. Her family was unable to reach her when they tried to call her at around the same time the next day. The door to her home was found unlocked and the windows open.
Family members say Chandler has dealt with mental health issues in the past and was taking anti-depressant medications at the time.
Anyone who may have information regarding Chandler is being asked to contact the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office at 903-453-6800.

Eight months ago, Lisa Chandler disappeared from her home near Wolfe City.
Despite a widespread and well-publicized search, Chandler remains missing. There have been no sightings, no clues and investigators have no idea where to turn next.
“It is such a funny thing how she totally vanished,” said Hunt County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Robert White.
Family members refuse to give up, although her son, Chris Chandler, fears the worst.
“You’ve got to suspect foul play,” he said. “You’d be an idiot not to.”
The family has posted a $1,000 reward for information about Chandler, who disappeared from her home on Highway 34 North on the afternoon of Sept. 23, 2007. Her family was unable to reach her when they tried to call her at around the same time the next day.
Chandler may have begun walking south along Highway 34 toward Greenville from her residence and may have been picked up by a passing motorist. Sheriff’s investigators were able to track Chandler’s scent with bloodhounds five miles along the highway before the trail ended.
Chris Chandler said he would personally increase the reward to $10,000, if need be, as he is frustrated at the lack of information, noting he has not heard anything from investigators for months.
“It still doesn’t make sense to me,” he said, adding his mother’s belongings were found inside the home, untouched, despite the door being unlocked and the windows being open. He admits Lisa Chandler was known to have acquaintances who may have been involved with drugs, but he does not know for certain if anyone was involved in her disappearance.
“They basically tell me the same thing,” Chris Chandler said of his conversations with investigators. “Nothing’s been confirmed and, as far as I know, no one has come forward.”
White said it is unusual in a missing persons case to have someone gone for so long and to not hear anything about them.
“Every time I go by that house I wonder where she went to,” White said. “Right now, it is just out there. We’ve got absolutely nothing.”
Anyone who may have information regarding Chandler is being asked to contact the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office at 903-453-6800.

New clues found in Wolfe City disappearance
By BRAD KELLAR
Herald-Banner Staff
GREENVILLE — Lisa Chandler vanished from her Wolfe City-area residence 18 months ago.
A search conducted this week near Chandler’s home may have turned up evidence in connection with the disappearance, according to Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks.
“We found three items of interest, not a body,” Meeks said. “We don’t know whether it is related to this case.”
Chandler’s son Chris has worked primarily from his home in Florida to keep publicizing information about the disappearance and said he was contacted by the sheriff’s office about what had been found.
“Really, I don’t know what to think at this point,” he said.
The family had posted a $1,000 reward for information about Chandler, who disappeared from her home on Highway 34 North on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 23, 2007. Her family was unable to reach her when they tried to call her at around the same time the next day. The door to her home was found unlocked and the windows open.
Chandler may have begun walking south along Highway 34 toward Greenville from her residence and may have been picked up by a passing motorist. Sheriff’s investigators were able to track Chandler’s scent with bloodhounds five miles along the highway before the trail ended.
Despite multiple articles in the Herald-Banner and the inclusion of Chandler on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Missing Person’s Web site, along with other Internet missing person sites, there had been no clues in months.
Meeks said his office was contacted recently by someone who said a witness observed an individual near the bridge across Brushy Branch Creek, about three-fourths of a mile south of Chandler’s home, around the time of the disappearance.
“They said the person was seen dragging something down to the area,” Meeks said, adding deputies searched both sides of the creek bed Wednesday.
Meeks did not specify on what type of items were found at the site, but added the items recovered had been sent off for forensics testing.
Chris Chandler said he had been told at least one of the items recovered appeared to be a bone which did not appear to belong to an animal.
“I was hoping they would at least find what the family thought she was wearing that day,” he said. “I’m just hopeful we’ll get closure from this, not only as her son, but for the entire family.”
Anyone who may have information regarding Chandler is being asked to contact the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office at 903-453-6800.

Wolfe City woman's disappearance still baffling
Second in three-part series *(I must be blind...I can't find part 1)
It has been 20 months since Lisa Chandler vanished from her Wolfe City-area residence.
There have been no reported sightings and few clues in Chandler’s disappearance.
Items which were discovered earlier this year following search near Chandler’s turned out not to be connected to the case, which remains open according to Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks.
“There has been a lead which has come in,” Meeks said.
Chandler’s family has posted a $1,000 reward for information about Chandler, who disappeared from her home on Highway 34 North on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept.
In March, detectives with the sheriff’s office conducted a search of the the bridge across Brushy Branch Creek, about three-fourths of a mile south of Chandler’s home, based on a tip which had been phoned in. Items, including a bone, were recovered from the location, although tests revealed none of the items belonged to Chandler and the bone was not human.
Chandler remains featured on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Missing Person’s Web site, along with other Internet missing person sites and Meeks is hopeful the latest lead may be helpful to the investigation.
“It originated out of Lousiana,” Meeks said. “We will be sending an investigator there to check that out.”
Anyone who may have information regarding Chandler is being asked to contact the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office at 903-453-6800.

Chris,
This whole thing is bitter sweet. I really wish the family could just have closer and someone would have enough balls to come forward with any information. I am glad that the items found where not Aunt Lisa's but at the same time cause there is still some kind of hope... I just want it to be all over. I can only imagine what you and Tyler go through day to day. I know if it was mom, someone better lock me up in the crazy house! I will keep you guys in my prayers. luv you guys!!

April it is heart breaking as you and the family know. As most of the family know, Investigator Sneed made a trip to Mom's home town and actually did a voice stress test on Eddie, which I won't come out with the results. Another trip will be made by him soon. He has been free rain on this case by the Sherriff so I forsee some progress in the future. By the way folks, any thing you'd like to post my family and I would appericate it. If you don't care, kick rocks. Sneed thank you as well as everyone that actually gives a shit. Everyone be safe and don't let me son go down being mad at a loved one, you will one day regret it. I'm out!
