Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Missing Since: August 3, 2006 from Longview, Texas
Classification: Endangered Missing
Date of Birth: November 28, 1982
Age: 23 years old
Height and Weight: 4'11 - 5'0, 120 - 130 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Wells's nickname is Boo. She blinks frequently.
Clothing/Jewelry Description: A floral print brown and cream-colored tube top with a V cut over the hip, rust-colored gaucho pants, black high-heeled sandals.

Details of Disappearance
Wells was last seen in Longview, Texas on August 3, 2006. She planned to go to a pawnshop to get some money, but ended up going to Graham Central Station, a nightclub, instead. Wells is known to have arrived at the club at 10:30 p.m. She was unfamiliar with the area where the club was located, and had to call them several times to ask for directions. By the time she got there, her car was almost out of gasoline and she asked other customers for assistance, but it is unclear whether anyone offered to help her. She left alone shortly after midnight. She has never been heard from again.
Wells's black four-door 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, which has Texas license plates numbered J50ZTD and damage to the front passenger side, disappeared with her. It was found five days later along Interstate 20 at Texas Highway 31. Inside were some of her personal belongings, including her wallet and her ex-boyfriend's nonfunctional cellular phone. There was no sign of Wells at the scene and no indications of a struggle, but the driver's seat was reportedly pushed back, as if someone taller than Wells had driven it last. After Wells disappeared, there was some activity on her own cellular phone, which had disappeared with her. Three people found the phone and used it. All three individuals took a polygraph test; one of them, a man, failed it. The man has not been publicly identified, and though he has been interviewed multiple times by police, he has not been called a suspect in Wells's case.

At the time of her disappearance, Wells resided with a roommate in Brownsboro, Texas. She is a graduate of Chapel Hill High School and, in August 2006, was looking forward to starting a new job at Wal-Mart and starting classes at Trinity Valley Community College. She dreamed of a career as a kindergarten or first-grade schoolteacher. Wells may have been taken against her will and foul play is possible in her disappearance. Her case remains unsolved.

LONGVIEW - Authorities have identified a person of interest in the "sexual homicide" of a woman whose burned body was discovered near Kilgore in 2006, but the question remains - who is the woman?

The Gregg County Sheriff's Office hopes by releasing new information about a man they say is a sexual predator with a violent disposition will lead to the woman's identity.

They have also said the man, identified as 30-year-old Joseph Wayne Burnette, could possibly be responsible for the disappearance of a Brownsboro woman who has been missing for several years and the death of a local prostitute.

Squeaky Wheel Tour coming to Poor David’s Pub to profile missing Texans

GINA for Missing Persons FOUNDation (http://www.411gina.org/) presents the 3rd International Squeaky Wheel Tour® (SWT), launching October 17, 2008. The acclaimed 19-day event draws attention to several hundred missing people, each profiled by the musicians participating throughout the US and other countries, and is supported by the families of the missing and nonprofit organizations worldwide.

Musicians participating in SWT earmark their concerts or events to profile a missing person(s) in their community. They profile that missing person during their show and ask attendees to take a flyer to post throughout their community. Audience members become official GINA Volunteers simply by coming to the events and posting flyers.

This year's tour has reached across international boundaries that take us from England in 1996 to Dallas 2008. Damien Nettles disappeared from Cowes, Isle of Wight, England November 2, 1996. He is both an American and British citizen. His immediate family now lives in Dallas and continues to search for Damien whenever and however possible. Damien's family recently connected with GINA for Missing Persons FOUNDation when GINA was preparing a Squeaky Wheel Tour® web cast profiling UK missing persons to air November 2, 2008 at 2:30 CST www.411Gina.org . The Internet has become a valuable tool to help bridge the gap for families to get information out world-wide about their missing loved ones.

Texas area missing to be profiled are Roxanne Paultauf-Austin, Kimberly Norwood-Longview, Sara Kinslow-Greenville, Troy Grumbie-Irving, Melissa Highsmith-Fort Worth, Brandi Wells-Longview, and Monica Carrasco-Balmorhea.

Jannel Rap, founder of SWT, has intimate knowledge of the missing. Her sister, musician Gina Bos, disappeared on October 17, 2000. Because there was no lurid or dramatic circumstance, Gina's case didn't achieve great media attention and was soon forgotten by the community. In honor of Gina, and knowing how scattered, broken and lost the families of the missing felt, Jannel knew she had to do something. The concept of the Squeaky Wheel Tour® was born. A musician herself, Jannel used the power of music (and her band, Clementine) to start being the "squeaky wheel" that demands attention.

Jannel's LA based band, Clementine (http://www.clementineband.com/) is a merging of singer/songwriters on a mission to help educate the public about missing persons cases. Clementine is most known for their musical and lyrical hooks and their unique vocal sound reminiscent of the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and Crosby Stills Nash and Young. Clementine has shared the stage with Hal Ketchum, Louden Wainwright, Nickel Creek and more.

Mark Wayne Glasmire (http://www.markwayneglasmire/) is joining Clementine at Poor David's. He was a top 10 finalist in the GINA Singer/songwriter Contest of 2008 consequently joining in the family of International GINA Artists. He is a seasoned singer/songwriter with melodies and lyrics that hook you in and make you feel at home while challenging your senses.

850,000 missing persons reports are made each year in the U.S. 110,000 of those cases go unsolved. To date, over 300 missing people profiled by GINA for Missing Persons FOUNDation and SWT have been found.

Hello everyone,
My name is Kyle from Joliet, IL and thought I would make a few comments regarding this case. These are just questions I thought to myself while watching the episode on TV.
1. During the security video sequence where Brandi is walking out of the bar she is seen walking out to the right, off the camera. You can then see a shadow walk left (out of view of the camera) which we assume is Brandi. If you notice during this video sequence, a man walks out of the bar right behind Brandi. He is wearing a light colored cowboy hat. As he is walking out he goes to the left (as Brandi goes to the right). It looked as though he turned his head to the right, just as the shadow (of which we think is Brandi) was cutting back to the left. Its almost as if this person said something to her to get her attention. Has this person been identified and/or questioned?
2. When Brandi's cell phone was discovered missing, it was shown to be used several time after she was thought to have disappeared. The police were able to track who was using the cell phone and bring him in for questioning. This seems to be to be the biggest break in the case. During the episode the viewers were told that the night club swiped each ID for each customer entering the bar. Was this person, or any person associated with this person, at the night club the night of Brandi's disappearance? It would be as easy as checking the records for that night.

I am not an investigator, but these questions kept ringing in my head during the show. I was surprised the show did not address the top above two topics.

Any comments ideas?

Thought I would post the rest of the story that I posted almost 2 years ago (post #2) before it disappears. Not sure why I didn't do it originally.

"This woman (whose burned body was found near Kilgore) was tragically murdered and we feel that someone out there knows who she is. We just hope anyone with information that could lead us to her identity will step forward," Lt. Mike Claxton said during a press conference Monday.

http://www.tylerpaper.com/apps/pbcsi.dll/bilde?Site=TP&Date=20080318&Category=NEWS01&ArtNo=803180327&Ref=H5&MaxH=300&MaxW=330
Joseph Wayne Burnette is the owner of this Dodge pickup truck.

Claxton said DNA is available to help match any missing woman. He said the victim is believed to be a white female between the age of 17 and 22, 5-3 to 5-5 in height, and weighed 100 to 120 pounds.

The woman was wearing a pair of size 7-8 "One Tuff Babe" jeans and a purple or mauve-colored shirt or sweatshirt. It is believed she had either blonde hair with red highlights or red hair with blonde highlights.

Joseph Wayne Burnette

"We have spent a lot of time running down leads and we want to identify her," he said. We are asking for the public's help."

Claxton said based on information gathered in an interview with Burnette investigators are "very confident" he was with the victim when she died.

Brandi Wells ... 40-year-old Deena Cedillio or Deena Garcia

Burnette, who is currently in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for failure to comply with sex offender registration, was first convicted in Rusk County in 1997 of aggravated sexual assault. He was released on parole in July 2005. He was investigated by the Gregg County Sheriff's office for failure to comply with sex offender registration in August 2006 and was arrested in September 2006 but released from Upshur County Jail on bond the following day. Burnette was arrested in February 2007 on sex offender violations and was then sent to TDCJ in May.

Claxton said during the time Burnette was out of jail, the burned woman's body was found, Brandi Wells, 23, of Brownsboro went missing and the body of 40-year-old Deena Cedillio or Deena Garcia was found in Longview.

Ms. Wells was last seen at a Longview nightclub Aug, 3, 2006 and has not been heard from since. Ms. Cedillio's body was found Dec. 6, 2006 near East Whaley Street.

Claxton said Burnette has not been charged in any of the crimes and he stopped short of calling Burnette a serial killer. However, he said the man fits certain characteristics and that he found it odd that since Burnette was incarcerated in 2007 there have been no further reports of missing women in Longview.

Claxton said the crimes for which Burnette was convicted have an "element of brutality" to them, and said the man is a "continuing threat."

"We have two other cases that came up during this same time period and they could be connected," he said.

Claxton said during the time Burnette was out, he was caught in a New Diana neighborhood watching a high school girl perform cheerleading moves in her front yard. This act led to his arrest and subsequent return to prison.

Burnette is not scheduled for release for 10 years, but law enforcement wants him to remain behind bars. Claxton said Burnette's initial offense of aggravated sexual assault and his pattern of criminal activity "have elements of brutality," violence and of "conscious selection of victims."

Asked if Burnette is suspected of being a serial killer, Claxton said, "I can't say that, but I can say he is a sexual predator with a very violent temper, who under certain circumstances could escalate that violence."

Claxton would not say what specifically led authorities to Burnette in relation to the unidentified woman's body, but said there was evidence.

"I cannot get into that at this time," he said.

Claxton said he hopes photographs of the unidentified woman, Burnette and his green Dodge pickup might provide much needed information as to her identity.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gregg County Sheriff's Office at 903-236-8400 or toll free at 800-765-2189.

"We know that this young woman belonged to someone out there, that someplace she has a family that loves her. We want to get her home," Claxton said.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am not sure how to catch the show again, unless you catch a re-run on ID. You may be able to catch it online somewhere. Once you catch the show you will see what I mean. I left the show asking more questions. I hope the investigators addressed the two topics I gave (above).

Investigators baffled by several missing person cases

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Several cases of missing persons in East Texas are still baffling investigators. In spite of the best efforts of searcher's they still remain mysteries.
Kelly Wilson of Gilmer, Brandy Wells of Brownsboro and Shirley Hunt of Henderson are all missing persons cases in East Texas.
"There's been nothing from the day she disappeared," said Ellen Tant, the mother of Brandy Wells. "There's been no clues, no avenue, really, to travel down one way or another."
A national missing persons organization even came to East Texas Thursday to chronicle high profile cases. At any given time, East Texas law enforcement investigates numerous missing reports.
"Right now, I have three active on my desk [for] missing person cases," said Detective Terry Davis, with the Longview police.
And, for every case, families believe someone somewhere knows what happened.
"We've been to Houston, Pasadena, San Antonio, Dallas [and] so far we haven't found anything," said Bob Hunt, whose wife, Shirley, is missing. "Anything that we can get out helps. We haven't heard anything."
"I feel like there is somebody out there that does know what happened to her from the get go," said Tant.
The major problem with missing persons cases is time. As it passes there is very little evidence and very few witnesses and it leaves investigators with usually one thing: the last place the person was seen at.
"Leads are lost evidence becomes lost witness memory and information becomes vague," said Davis.
But, for the families of the missing, there will be no rest until their questions are answered.
"What happened?" said Davis. "What happened to their loved one?"
"She was a real human being," said Tant. "Somebody out there loves and cares for her."
Law enforcement says legitimate missing persons cases are rare. They say most turn out to be individuals who disappear and don't want to be found.

World Premiere: Monday, January 11 from 10-11 PM ET
DISAPPEARED follows the unpredictable twists of missing person cases, tracking investigations aimed at solving how and why people simply vanish. While some of the resolutions are heartwarming and others tragic, many cases remain open to this day and continue to be a source of unbearable frustration for family members and friends. Each episode of DISAPPEARED begins from the time immediately before the individual vanished, searching for clues hidden beneath seemingly everyday behavior that may indicate whether or not the person left voluntarily. For the open cases that have gone cold, DISAPPEARED asks viewers to share fresh leads in hopes of deciphering what truly happened to the missing and whether foul play may have been involved.
