What is the worst Christmas gift you ever received? Did you regift it later??:happy0158:
Back in the day; all I wanted my husband to get me was an 8-track player for my car. I was sure I was receiving it when I saw the package. But to my displeasure; it was a freaking ice maker for my refrigerator. ARGH!!!!!
And; no, I couldn't regift it. He installed it on Christmas day.:0doh:

A few years ago, my SIL got me this ugly, neon, pink flamingo, plug in, decor thingy. It was meant as bar room decor, which, I don't have, lmao.
I don't know what she was thinking. I returned it and Mr.Gator was upset that I didn't hang it up in the living room so that she could at least see it once.:0doh:

My mom gave me an ornament of a black sheep and stuck a post-it to it saying: "To the Black Sheep of our family" Meanwhile my brother was opening his new GPS system, XM radio, etc. I was like :thud2:
Granted, that was the year I "came out" and things have greatly improved since then!

When I was about 12 years old (mid-70s) my grandmother gave me a pair of these black plastic tube thingys that were about a foot-and-a-half long each. On the package it said "Turn any pair of regular shoes into a pair of high-fashion boots." So apparently I was supposed to pull them on over my shoes and it would make them look like stylish black boots. :girl_sad:

My grandparents use to buy me a box of 8 crayons for Christmas. Then 5 days later I'd get a coloring book for my b-day.
Cheap bastards! My cousins all got bikes, skates, clothes and toys. Yet, they couldn't even spring for the big box of crayons for me.

Not mine, I get $20 and a card every year and $5 for my bday... they're usually together since I'm a Jan Bday. Every year my parents tell me to save the cards because it may have been my grands last christmas... this year I believe them, but I hate that it's always discussed that way.

I ran into my step FIL at the auto parts store the other day. We stood outside, next to my car, and chatted for a few.
My MIL calls Mr.Gator later that evening to say that her hubby noticed 2 of my tires are balding and that they want to get me new tires for Christmas.
Course, Gator told them no. And I hate when she tries to be so nice to me. I know she can't stand me. In the process, Gator got on my azz for not having the tires rotated every 3k miles.
Here's to all MIL's from Hell.:71541: Concerto's being the number 1, lmao.

One year my m-i-l gave me an obviously used raincoat and a bottle of that "hair growth" stuff you see in magazine in beauty salons. I have worn my hair short since right after I married her son, but she's one of those religious nuts that think cutting your hair will make you go to hell. I threw the junk in the trash.
The raincoat was one that she had outgrown and was 2 sizes too big for me. I gave it to the thrift store. My husband was soooo embarrassed, but I just chalked it up to her cruel nature. The same year, she gave him some of his deceased father's clothes for Christmas, and gave our teenage son a $4 plastic truck. This is the woman who pays $25 for a pair of granny panties at the finest clothing store in town. Witch!

I just received a set of cow plates from a now defunct (closed forever) department store. I guess there are people in the world who like cow plates, :waitasec: but I'm not one of them. :71526:
I guess I'll just have to put it in my re-gift pile for next year unless an occasion comes along before then. :girl_haha:

My wonderful MIL bought the strangest gifts for us. Almost always animal related. She thought because we had so many dogs, that a standing dog toilet paper holder would be great. The dog was holding his nose with his paw. :faintTHUD:

My 300 lb MIL bought me a royal blue fish scale I can hang on the wall. In the card she wrote me the sweetest note about how "thick" I am getting and she didn't want her precious son to be unhappy with a heavy wife. At the time I was 145 lbs.
This year I just received our Christmas card from her..with the wrong names written on the inside :-) LOL!

I so can't wait for concerto to give us her yearly m-i-l gifts stories. :attention: Be prepared to empty your bladder and not eat, drink, or smoke when she posts as they get quite guffaw funny and can cause a screen/keyboard mess, or a choking hazzard.
You've been warned.
I can't either. I look forward to her post every year! I think each year it just keeps getting better and better!

Oo, what are these MIL stories? I want to hear them too. I'll keep checking back to hear them.
Last year my MIL sent a GC for Amazon for 50 bucks. She's a gazillionaire. The kids (adults) got a check for their ages (27, got 127 dollars) plus a hundred.
Of course, this is the woman that served me water in a paper cup when I married the boy. She was none too impressed with me.
I'm not Jewish, and have been a shiksa ever since, tho sometimes I'm just a plain old Gentile.
Depends on whether the kids are in trouble or not.

MIL's 2007 Gift Giving Idea
My FIL and MIL came over yesterday and she said to Luke (Luke is my Sweetie), "For your family we've just decided to do this...whatever we would spend on your family then go buy something for that much money and just remember it's from your dad and me. Whatever you, Merrill and the children would spend on us then we'll go buy ourselves something and say that it's from the four of you."
I wish y'all could have been here to hear this conversation...it went on and on. It was a riot!!!
~~
Luke asked how much we can spend. Oh my...he shouldn't have asked. She said it's rude to ask what someone would spend on you and the he should know better!
Then she went on to say we could spend as much as we like.
Sooo...how come when she's actually spending her money we get poopy things but when we're shopping with our own money the sky is the limit?
~~
Yes, we're suppose to spend the amount they would normally spend but she doesn't want to say how much she spends. However, she does want to know how much we spend.
BTW, Martha called this morning and said, "Well if you have to come then you're responsible for two appetizers, the turkey, dressing and two desserts."
Luke replied, "We don't have to come. Plan accordingly."
Listen y'all, Luke is the sweetest man the good Lord gave breath and has the patience of Job IMO and I have NEVER in 27 years of knowing him heard him use that tone of voice with anyone.
As he left for the office he told me that if I see them on caller id to let it go to call notes.
~~
When Martha gave me the pickle and post-it notes my thank you note to her said...
Dear Martha,
Thank you so much for the lovely Christmas gifts. I'd have been in a real pickle had you not given me the post-it notes.
Love,
Merrill
She was not amused. I'm going to need help with the thank you note this year.
Any and all thoughts are welcome!
~~
Those are my posts from my CTV thread on this subject.
My Sweetie's sister called this morning just cracking up. She sounded like she was hyperventilating so after I knew for sure that she was ok she said, "Guess what I'm getting for Christmas from mother and daddy." Well now, she normally gets something nice so I guessed a few things that I knew she had been looking at while we were out together but nooo she's not getting any of that.
She's getting a girdle!!!
Caroline needs a girdle just about as much as a yardstick needs one. But Martha wouldn't leave the house without wearing a girdle. Maybe that's what's wrong with her. That girdle cuts off the oxygen to her brain.
I asked Caroline how she found out and she said she was doing the giftwrapping for Martha and her gift was in the stack of things to be wrapped so she just wrapped it too.
ROTFLOL!

Are you kidding me? That right there would have been the last time I seen my mother. Mind boggling.
