Hi X. I don't get into April fools stuff.
I was reading an article on CNN about April 1st pranks at work and some of them were pretty funny. I played one just once on a best friend. I purchased a lotto ticket the day after the drawing with the exact winning numbers and a news paper. I called her and said I had to come over right away and talk to her. When I got there, all I did was hand her the tickets and the paper with the numbers. She looks at the ticket, then the paper, then the ticket, then the paper, and her mouth dropped open! She informs me she needs to get me an attorney and get me out of the country immediantly! BTW, the lotto was for over 60 million. I finally cracked and she choked me.

When I was working at UPS (during the heyday of the 49ers), we used to listen to KFOG radio (San Francisco) all night (loading trucks). One morning, the news guys reported that the 49ers had traded Joe Montana.
That UPS facility went ballistic. I mean it was chaos (full of men)---near riot status.
Later we were told HAHA it's April Fool's day! Not too many people were amused but I've never forgotten it.

A group of my friends pulled that on another friend for Christmas. It was "just" for $10,000 so she thought it was real. She had everyone in the car on the way to the Kwikkie Mart (wherever she thought they had purchased it) at 2 in the morning before they finally told her it was a joke.
She is STILL mad. And you can buy those joke scratchers.

My favorite columnist at our local newspaper pulled a good one years ago.
We have abandoned gypsum mines in the area. He did a story that was GOOD and to this day people believe it.
He said that the gypsum mines were really gold mines. The gold was tunneled to the biggest downtown building in the area. There was a new heliport put on top of the building and they took the gold out in helicopters. There were pictures and maps and the whole deal.
It was great!

So was my ggrandson!! We hoped for an April Fools birth though. LOL We had a blast at the hospital all day and through the night. You'd have thought she was really someone important, all the family(both families), half her church, their together friends, her friends, his friends all were there. We even went into the other 3 ladies rooms and cheered them up too because 2 of them had no one at hospital. The 3rd had her hubby but he was out in car trying to sleep since he'd worked over 12 hours. LOL

The guys in my department played an April Fool's joke on me one year. I had a dr.'s appt. that morning and came in late. The first thing I always did when I got there was to unlock my desk drawer and put my purse in the drawer. I did not have time to do this before the phone started ringing. I picked up the phone and it would not stop ringing - no one at the other end either. I went through this about four or five times before figuring out the engineers had taped down the hang-up button and yet the phone would still ring. The next thing I did was to unlock my desk to put up my purse, low and behold I almost pulled my arm out of the socket trying to open my drawer. It was taped shut too. When I looked up all the guys were standing in their doors laughing their fool heads off at me and my frustration. After I got over being mad, remembering it was April Fool's day it was quite funny to think of what they saw me doing (cussing up a storm and fighting mad).:s1gyahoo:

Hey cool! I think I might do that to my receptionist!
Years ago we had a girl who was quite the blond. I called her via an outside line and disguised my voice. Told her I had a vendor at their office and needed to talk to him ASAP, could she page him? His name last name is Furter, first name Frank.
Sure enough, "Mr. Furter, Frank Furter, would you please come to the message station?"
The entire office erupted in laughs. She was P'O'd.
Well then there was the time my friend and I switched out a Warhead for a gumball and passed if off to her.
I don't know why she didn't trust me much.

We did the classic one at work once, to someone on vacation. You tape plastic behind the window of the office, and fill that up with packing styrofoam bits. Same for the window in the door. Then you use a heavy brick or block on a piece of fabric, put it behind the door, use the fabric to pull it forward as you close the door, then pull the fabric out, crumble broken styrofoam bits under the door - and the office looks like it's been filled with styrofoam, the door resists being opened just like if it was indeed full.

Thats alotta work, but probably worth it depending on who you do it too and how they react! I've seen some pretty funny pics of cars covered in colored post-it notes.

Yep, basically! I've never mentioned it to anyone but once when I was selected to be a juror on a murder trial - the defendant plead after the jury was selected. One lady who was a juror told me, well, I am glad he plead because I'd not been able to send him to prison because I knew him too well when we were in high school and we were like best friends and he teased me a lot. I thought, OMG!! She'd told the Pros when asked if she knew the defendant or was related that she'd known him in school but hadn't seen him in a long time. After she told me about not being able to find him responsible for the man's death, I remembered where she worked and no way she could not see him!!

He isn't off scott free- some 3 and a half years more to serve. Not enough, not by a longshot - but he's not walking time served. I think the prosecutor caved, and I think approaching the families at this point in time, when they must be exhausted from all the stress they're under isn't really fair.

4:55 p.m. - Defense attorney David Roth is reviewing item-by-item on the paperwork with Gaillard.
They are rights sheets, where a defendant acknowledges that they are waiving certain things before entering a plea of guilty or no contest.
The bailiff has bid goodbye to the Court TV staff.
Word is spreading through the courtroom that the deal is:
Five years prison, 10 years probation.

BLOG UPDATE:
5:16 p.m. - It is clear now that Adam Gaillard is going to take a plea.
To what and in exchange for what still has not been told to the judge.
The lawyers are now getting the paperwork together it, getting the "scoresheet" as is it called. The one where they calculate how much time he scores in prison. And how much time he already has for time served.
Why would Gaillard not take a mistrial and instead plead guilty?
Perhaps it's the prospect of having to do a trial all over again, pay a top-dollar defense attorney again, see the victim's family again.
Unknown at this point.

Says she understands he's reached a plea.
5 years DOC, 10 years probation.
5 years with credit of 498 days. Special conditions of probation. Drug testing that he pays for. No driving of any kind. Permanment revocation of drivers license. 473 dollars court cost (?)
Asks about issue of restitution. State didn't ask about any, state thinking about it. (Geez)
Says she reserves the right to be reduced to a judgement. WIthin 60 days. Judge retains jurisdiction. Amount not agreed upon.

Well, I suppose WE have to at least feel good about " OUR COMMON SENSE" when we heard the testimony.and only wish the jurors could have hear that same information...It is soo sooo justifying to just hear him admit "He Knew" that condones our scoffing, and finger pointing..and for me that " EXPERT" should take a Disinfectant Bath to attemtp to clear his conscience of aiding and abetting a ciminal!..Yikes from what I have seen this past year.I am truly skeptical and cynical of ALL AND ANY EXPERT opinions!! In most cases I have seen, you are correct, however, I truly believe that people in general do not want to "Sit In Judgement" and maybe the Judges will find themselves the finders of fact in the future..as THEY CAN BE found accountable for their decisions on a greater level of scrutiny..like the Appellete Judges...In the past, so many Appellete panels have not attempted to negate juror's opinions because of the assumption that they made an INFORMED" decision.,,For us OLD GUYS, we know just how the sytem worked and works..and when it comes to evidence..well, we know not ALL EVIDENCE comes into the case!..So, I am not suprised by some judgments..however knowing what I know..I do get blindsided!!!
But the old ad-age goes forth.."I would rather be judged by my peers "! as it is better to let a gullty person go free than to encarcerate a non-guilty person!..Yowza...So hindsight thinking here...as I have seen in my lifeime many people get punished for crimes they did not commit..but more often than not.. more go free to continue their rampage on humanity!

The old stealth holdout with an agenda, eh? who comes in with their mind already made up.
Sheesh. :puke:
That's what it sounds like~~~a juror refusing to deliberate. Wh, oh why, don't jurors report this inappropriate behavior. You know that is what happened. This jury barely had time to elect a foreman and take an initial vote before they said they were hung. If that doesn't reek of a juror refusing to deliberate, I don't know what does.

Ashleigh just said they will have a juror on with them. Hope they talk about the hold out juror. I want to know if that juror went into deliberations with their mind made up. If they did, I want to know why the juror wasn't reported to the judge.

Mary Ann Eberle on the phone with Jack Ford and at first vote, she voted guilty. First vote 3 Guilty 3 Not guilty. She believed that AG SHOULD have known that he hit those two women. AG not testifing played no part in her decission. The after the fact conduct was important. "13 hours is a long time when you knew that something happened". Concience of guilt was important. The hold out believed that AG did NOT see the ladies. Ford asked if she would have wanted to know about the lengthy violation behind the wheel and she said YES along with the revocation on drug charges one month after bail was granted. She felt what was presented was enough to convict. The plead did not do "justice" to the case. She feels that he should have gotten the maximum. All 15 years.

I think in the end, this guy will get all 15 years. He's gonna live clean for 10 years? No way. He cried for himself and himself only. He never thought one sorrowful thing about those beautiful women he killed. If he stays in Palm Beach (doesn't he have to for probation?), they will be watching his every move.
