I think he was in the top two on who was most responsible for the deaths of his other children (between him, and Andrea's last doctor that cut her off on the psych meds you aren't supposed to cut off on). Having a new child - it's not the kids fault what happened in the past - but I don't like it. I hope he learned from it, but from what he's said over the years, I doubt he thinks he did anything wrong.

I also hope he and his new wife do things differently.
I hope he watches her for PPD, no home schooling, and takes a long break between having more children.
I know everyone deserves to be happy, get a second chance but I don't like it either. He got off easy and contributed to the mental state of Andrea.
I sure hope he has learned...

He should have gone to prison years ago. IMO. He contributed to the deaths of his children, then went on every talk show in the world talking about how sick Andrea was. If he knew that to begin with, and of course he did, why did he leave her alone with those helpless babies? He doesn't deserve to be called a father. Sperm donor, maybe. Father, no way.

It always amazed me that he never seemed like he felt he had any responsibility at all. I would have blamed myself, I'm sure.

Rusty Yates is a control freak, an ego maniac, and a few other things that I dare not type. He found a woman (Andrea) who was so emotionally weak that he could bend her to his will and make her the perfect (in his twisted view) wife. Her sick mind finally just completely broke to the point that she was hearing voiced from "God" to kill her own children. All the warnings and signs were there....but Rusty ignored them. Of course he is guilty.

Rusty Yates should be on Death Row for his part in those 5 children's death. He knew Andrea was sick, but kept on having kids. I totally agree with you, Texanne. I hope this current wife and children get out before its too late. Otherwise, she and her children may see an ending to her story like Andrea and her babies did. JMHO

There is no doubt in my mind that Rusty Yates should be sitting in a prison cell. Yes, Andrea Yates is the one who ultimately committed these horrendous acts, but his complete arrogance IMO was the ultimate crux. He knew this woman had something wrong, there is no way he could live with her and not know. She is the one sick, so of course she is not capable of making the right choices for herself or anyone. Yet, he continued to get her pregnant, he continued to allow her to homeschool, he continued to allow her to spend countless hours alone with these children. All IMO to feed his ego.
There was absolutely no reason not to charge him with something. Child neglect, child endangerment, spousal abuse, something.

Rusty knows the public holds him responsible. Perhaps that alone will prevent him from making the same mistake again. He is so arrogant that he will be determined to show that the public was wrong. His new wife defends him. I am sure that by now she is beginning to see the old Rusty, but will never admit it. At least she seems mentally stronger than Andrea.

Another thing that always drove me crazy was, what kind of man continues to be intimate with someone that he knows is suffering mentally and emotionally. Talk about sick. That there alone should have gotten him something. I personally view that as completely taking advantage of someone that you know is not capable of making the right choices.

It wasn't until I read the book "Are You There Alone?" by Suzanna O'Malley that I realized just how responsible Rusty Yates was for the death of his kids. I believe he should be in a jail cell instead of out in the world fathering yet more children.

Thanks for info about the book Panda. The way I feel about Rusty now, I probably don't need to read it.
