Glen Edward Chapman was released Wednesday from a North Carolina prison after serving fourteen years on death row for two crimes he did not commit.
Convicted of the 1992 murders of two Hickory women – Betty Jean Ramseur and Tenene Yvette Conley – Glen Chapman was sentenced to death in 1994.
Chapman was granted a new trial in November of 2007 after Superior Court Judge Robert C. Ervin discovered that police detectives had withheld and covered up evidence that could have proved Chapman’s innocence.
