1 in 50 infants suffers abuse

Sad for a country that is as advanced as the USA. It does not reflect well on us.

ATLANTA - About 1 in 50 U.S. infants is a victim of nonfatal child abuse or neglect in a year, according to the first national study of the problem in that age group.

The study focused on children younger than 1 year, and found nearly a third were one week old or younger when the abuse or neglect occurred.

Its a common every day thing down here in San Antonio. There are too many teen girls getting pregnant and then when Baby gets here, neither the mom or the dad (if he sticks around) want to care for the child. Ultimately, the child ends up in the hospital badly injured or dead. The kids that do survive are not only physically abused, but emotionally abused for the rest of their lives.

1 abused child is just too many no matter what.
