I am Laura's Aunt from Colorado. They do believe they are heading towards St. Petersburg/Fort Meyers Florida area. I too can't believe that they cancelled the Amber Alert after like 24 hours of her missing. We are all still hopeful that she will be found safe. She is in danger as long as she is with her mother. This is the 2nd time she tried to take her. this time she got away from us. The mother is not stable at all.

NBC24 Fact Finder: Amber Alert Rules
In an exclusive NBC24 Fact Finder Investigation, we checked to see if Amber Alert procedures were followed
SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH -- Police issued an Amber Alert on Friday after a 16-year-old teen went missing with her non-custodial mother. But an exclusive NBC24 Fact Finder investigation asked if l law enforcement jumped the gun issuing the alert for a missing teen?
The alert was cancelled Saturday even though the teen was still missing.
The alert was issued Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. for Laura Lenz, 16, who willingly got in a car with Jennifer Lenz, her non-custodial mother. Investigators said that around 6:45 a.m. Laura got off her school bus at Northview High School. Witnesses tell police she went immediately to a white Honda CRV, that police say was stolen from a Toledo victim earlier that day. Polce said the family felt the mother was not fit and did not have the capabilities to care for the child.
State and Federal guidelines advise alerts should only be issued for children who are in serious danger of "bodily harm" or "death".
Three days later, police have not said why they feared the teen was at risk.
"We had information and still have information that the child was in extreme danger. I can't go into the reason. That's part of the investigation," said Det. Jim Rettig, Sylvania Township Police Department.
LINK: http://www.ohioamberplan.org/faq.aspx
The U.S. Department of Justice has a written guideline. It says "the media has a right to expect law enforcment officials to be accessible and provide a method for reporters to verify information gathered.
Investigators did not answer questions on camera Friday. But they did respond to questions over the phone.
Sylvania Township Police would still like to local the missing the missing teen. Detective Rettig told NBC24 she was last seen with her non-custodial mother early Sunday morning in Richburg, South Carolina. They are believed to be headed for Florida.

So why did they cancel the Amber Alert???? If she's in extreme danger, she still qualifies.

Thank you so very much for the wonderful wishes for Laura's saftey. I am baffeled at the news over the Amber Alert. I don't think they jumped the gun as they put it, but cancelling it early was not the right thing to do. My Step Brother got full custody of her for a reason and has proof that she can and is in danger. She was to have no contact with her mother as far as I know. I am hoping to hear something more today from her grandfather or father. I will update as I hear more.....
One quick question???
Does anybody know why I can't find her on Missing and Exploited Childrens website anymore...Or is it just me.
