Family plans to search for woman today at Riverside Park
Published Saturday, April 12, 2008
Authorities are continuing to search for Michelle Miles Bianco, 43, of Springfield, who was last heard from Saturday evening.
Michelle Miles Bianco hasn’t been seen since Saturday.Advertisement
Family members are organizing a search today at Riverside Park, which is north of Springfield off Business 55, next to the Sangamon River.
Bob Miles, Debbie’s brother, said there is “no particular reason” the park is being targeted.
“Basically, it’s a starting point,” Miles said. “It’s a well-known place. I’ve looked at Riverside myself, but I never looked real hard. ... It’s possible she could be there, but it’s possible she could be other places, too.”
Anyone who wants to help with the search is asked to meet at Riverside Park at 10:30 a.m. Miles said people should gather near the park entrance.
If the search is called off because of weather, someone will be at the park to let volunteers know what is happening.
“We’re going to look at Riverside (today) and then maybe the next day another place and keep going on until we find her,” Miles said.
Bianco is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 110 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. She is believed to be wearing blue jeans, a blue sweater and possibly a blue coat.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office at 753-6840 or urge her to call her family.

We had a search party yesterday went to riverside park here in Springfield today we are here at this park I have a couple friends out at the lake they are in their boats looking, said Butch Miles, brother of Michelle Bianco.
About sixty people showed up for Saturday's search and organizers expected more at Dreamland Park where they searched Sunday.
Friends say it's not like her to just disappear.
Kim Creason, friend of the family said, "She would never disappear like this and not contact anyone. She was always on the phone calling everybody talking on the phone all the time so we know this isn't right."

A different news story
April 14, 2008 05:03 PM CDT http://www.wandtv.com/global/story.asp?s=8159991
"The boyfriend of a missing Riverton woman spoke to NewsCenter 17 on Monday.
"Kind of catch myself crying myself to sleep every once in a while, every night, trying to deal with it," said Brian Rush. "Pretty shocking thing - someone taken out of your life, no word or nothing."
Rush says he last spoke with his girlfriend, 43-year-old Michelle Bianco two weekends ago. This past weekend, volunteers searched two Springfield parks but had no luck finding the missing woman.
Rush says his girlfriend was last seen the night of April 5th, at Wheeler and South Grand in Springfield. She was leaving a relative's home and supposed to catch a ride with someone.
Authorities do not know who gave her a ride.
Rush says Bianco is a homemaker and mother of two children.
He says right now, he's trying to cope with his girlfriend's disappearance.
<<Snip>>
Just wonder why they do not know who she left with or at least a little more information on time / location & destination (which I assube to be Riverton).

The family has offered a $2,000 reward and another search is planned.

Snipped from article
"Friends and family members plan to meet at Wheeler and South Grand at 6 p.m. Wednesday to continue the search for Bianco, who they describe as a homebody who had no reason to leave town.
She did not have a vehicle or cell phone. She is described as 5-foot-7, 110 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. She may have been wearing blue jeans and a blue sweater, black shoes with short heels and possibly a blue coat.
Riverside Park, Dreamland Park and the rock quarry near Four Seasons already have been searched.
An account has been opened at National City Bank to collect donations for the reward fund."
(It is puzzling that there is no info about the ride or destination. The article above stated that they searched around her cousin's house. If that is the relative she visited, then I hope they questioned all the neighbors to see if anyone saw her or saw or heard a vehicle etc.)

Until today, Michelle's family has been searching in wooded areas near Lake Springfield. They've also been posting up these missing persons signs around town.
But today police searched this house behind me, as they brought out bags of evidence. Now her family says they want to search the entire neighborhood. After that search, her family went to where she was last seen, her cousin's house.
Her family asked what police found. They're looking for evidence that would point them to, or away from, foul play. Her family will meet at the corner of South Grand and Wheeler this Wednesday at 6 p.m. to comb the neighborhood with police. They're asking for volunteers to help with the search.

Missing Springfield Woman

SPRINGFIELD - The family of a missing Springfield woman is calling on the public for help. 43-year-old Michelle Bianco hasn't been seen for ten days now.
Family members say a witness spotted her getting into a stranger's car, but they don't buy that story. Now they're searching for evidence and offering a reward.
Monday night police searched a cousin’s house in the neighborhood where she went missing at South Grand and Wheeler. Police removed some evidence from the home, but won’t say what they found.
Family members say Bianco calls them regularly, but they haven’t got a single call from her in days.
Monday they were busy putting up flyers with Michelle’s picture on it. They’re also offering a $2,000 reward for anyone who can help them find her.
“She's my little sister. She's the youngest one in the family and we all love her and want her back home,” said sister Debbie Gardner.
Gardner says her sister would have never gotten in a car with a stranger that's why this doesn't make sense.
The family plans to search the neighborhood where she went missing Wednesday night.
If you have any information on the case call Sangamon County Crimestoppers at 788-8427

Shelly is my aunt and we need to get her found right away. If anyone can help in our seaches please e-mail me at centralstate@insightbb.com. I can keep you informed on where they will be looking.
We have no idea if she got into a car. She would never get into a car with someone she did not trust. She always keeps in touch with the family and has never just up and left. She has all her family in Springfield and the surrounding areas and not one family member has heard or seen her since 4/5/08.
My family is asking for any help or info in this case.

City woman missing since weekend
By JAYETTE BOLINSKI
STAFF WRITER
Published Friday, April 11, 2008
Authorities searching for a Springfield woman who hasn’t been heard from since the weekend said Thursday they want her to call her family if she is OK.
Michelle “Shelly” Bianco, 43, last spoke to her boyfriend by phone about 7:30 p.m. Saturday and said she was at her cousin’s house near South Grand and Wheeler avenues. He said Bianco sounded fine and told him she was going to call her son for a ride home.
That was the last he heard from her.
Her boyfriend was out of town hunting turkeys at the time but said he called the cousin’s house looking for her, so he knows that’s where she was when they spoke.
Bianco’s boyfriend said he called her home Sunday morning to check in with her again, but no one answered the phone. He thought she was probably at her son’s home and would return later, but when he got to the residence about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, he realized she hadn’t been there.
Bianco’s son said he had not heard from her, so her family called police about 6 p.m. Information about Bianco and her description was aired to area police officers on Monday, and the boyfriend filed a formal missing person’s report on Tuesday.
Detectives with the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office have been trying to track down Bianco. They would not say if they suspect foul play, only that they are searching for a missing adult.
“We have interviewed numerous people in order to help us locate Miss Bianco,” said sheriff’s Capt. Tom Hendrickson, adding, “If she’s out there, she ought to call home.”
Bianco did not have a vehicle or a cell phone. She is described as 5-foot-7, 110 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. Her boyfriend checked her closets and believes she probably was wearing blue jeans and a blue sweater, black shoes with short heels on them and possibly a blue coat. She lives in the Lincoln Place Mobile Home Park off Old Route 36.
Anyone with information about Bianco’s whereabouts should call the sheriff’s office at 753-6840 or urge her to call her family.
Jayette Bolinski can be reached at 788-1530.

We are conducting a search in the area where she was last seen Wed. afternoon 4/16/08. If anyone can help, we are going door to door passing out a flyer with her pic. and reward info on it. Everyone is meeting at the corner of Wheeler & S. Grand at 6:00pm. Law inforcement will be in the area to make sure everyone is safe and the informational search can be done without any problems.

Sent you and e-mail and hope to be able to show up Wednesday.
If she was not the type to just start hitching a ride... she may have called someone from the cousins house.. Even if the cousin does not know who she called the Police should be able to get records on calls made.
I think there are several businesses in the area... I would hope that the police have asked for any and all camera coverage that might exist.
If you go to maps.live.com and plug in
'church 1800 south grand ave east springfield il' under Businesses you get about 10 in the general area. I would contact them for I expect most locals attend one of them.
Praying for Michelle and her family

Checking the phone records from the relative's house if she did call anyone would be a good idea. I wish you the best on the search tomorrow.
Can anyone get flyers out at truck stops. Maybe on the look out for a black car and her description?
I have talked to a few family members and arranged another search for my aunt.
We will be meeting at the Sandbar bar & grill on Mechanicsburg blacktop @ 2:00pm on Sunday (4/20/08). We are searching the nearby woods and surrounding areas. Afterwards the kind owners of the Sandbar are providing a free diner to everyone helping in the search.
My family really appreciates all the help we have been getting from the public in our searches, we cant thank them enough.
Please help us on Sunday if possible, the more help the better.
I will be posting dates and times of other searches as they are scheduled.

No, the witness can't be trusted?...In that case I'd suggest LE apply a little pressure to the witness as they may be a bit more involved than they are admitting. Also, anything they say is suspect, imo. They might very well be pointing LE in the wrong direction.
Hope you have success with your search.

Barney's is very close to there. I doubt that G & M Liquor has anything like security cameras, but never know. It would be nice if they have security cameras that caught anything on tape.
Joe, I saw that Crimestoppers is now asking for any information on Michelle. I am unable to help in the search this evening, but hope to get out this weekend and help. Wishing you and the search team the best of luck tonight.
I have been told that 5hrs of security tape from the G&M has been went through with no sight of a car or her.
We had alot of support tonight for the search, maybe 40 or so. Alot of people that we talked to in the neighborhood has heard about her being reported as missing. The group ended up handing out a few hundred missing/reward fliers.

The woman who saw Michelle last says she didn't know her very well, but she's sure she saw her being shoved into a car in this neighborhood the night she vanished. That's why authorities are focusing on this neighborhood.
But friends, family, even strangers fanned out across this area hanging flyers and stopping cars. They asked everyone they saw if they've seen Michelle. One man told her family he'd seen her a few days ago wandering around alone. It's leads, and the kindness from strangers, that keep her family going.
""It takes a special person to do something like that. Someone who will just come up and say "Were out here just to help, we dont know her, we dont know you, we're just out to help. That really gets to you," said her brother, Robert Miles.
"If she's out wandering around somewhere, someone has to see her eventually. So it gives me a little bit of hope," said her brother-in-law, Lloyed Noyes.
One man came out and donated $1,000 for reward money, bumping it up to $3,000. The next search will be this Sunday at Sand Bar Tavern on Mechanicsburg Road. If you have any information, call Sangamon County Crimestoppers at 788-8427.
The statement above about this ladie seeing her being shoved into a car is totaly FALSE!
Some people want to draw attention to themselves, it makes me sick. The ladie they are talking about could not even tell us where the so called abduction took place......just somewhere around the intersection, I dont buy it. What really upsets me is they aired the info. before they confirmed that the witness was lagit.

Thanks for clearing that up Joe. I guess the lady wanted her 15 minutes of fame. What a shame in a missing persons case.

This is the first I've heard about that. When people are saying stuff to draw attention to themselves, its hard to take people serious. You find yourself doubting others that actually may be trying to help.
Personaly...If a witness cant tell you what they were doing, where they were going, and what time they might have witnessed something...I pretty much ignore it. If they cant remember any other details, how can you believe them?

Missing woman’s family to conduct search, benefit
Published Sunday, April 27, 2008

My thoughts and prayers with all who are searching today.
We seached the woods and ditches near the corner of Snag.and Dirkson Pkwy today, found nothing.
We had a excellent turnout at the benefit today and raised more than $2000 for her reward and such.
I sure hope someone comes forward with some info about her whereabouts cause this is really tearing the family up. My grandfather (Shelly's dad) is in the hospital and is not doing very well. I really hope we can find her, it would make things alot easier on them knowing she is O.K.

Heard part of some news on WAND this morning about a search in the river. Referred to a tip from the family. I didn't get it all. They mentioned the black car again. All I'm finding are older articles so far.
Hope your grandfather is doing better, Joe.

Family of missing woman expects to meet with Sangamon County authorities
The family of a missing woman expects to meet with Sangamon County authorities this week.
Family and friends of 43-year-old Michelle Bianco spent another day searching yesterday.
Bianco's been missing since April 5th and her family says they're ready for some kind closure.
Her brother, Robert Miles, says he thinks the end might be in sight. Last week, a Sangamon County detective told Miles he wanted to set up a meeting early this week with the family.
"He went by my mom's house," Miles said of the detective. "He had to get some dental records. She had to sign off on dental records for my sister, so I don't know how to take it exactly. I don't know whether that means they have found her and are not saying anything."
The family is offering a reward for any information.
and of course SpringPatch News has nothing on it.. that I could find. GRRRRrrr :lex_10:
Prayers for Michelle and her family

Prayers for Michelle and her family
I know what you mean. It's frustrating. My prayers for her and the family too.
Some of the family had a meeting with investigators Tuesday about Shellys disapparance. I was told that they were not supposed to say anything to anyone about what was talked about, afraid that it might hinder any leads they have. We searched behind the dam at Sangchris this afternoon, after a tip. We are sort of at wits end, following any tip/lead we get.
The hardest thing to do is sit back and do nothing. I was told today that the reward is now up to $10,000, and I sure hope its enough to get someone to talk. I dont see how a person can just vanish without anyone knowing what happened to her, someone knows something.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the disappearance of a local woman who went missing nearly six months ago.
Michelle “Shelly” Miles Bianco, 43, was last seen April 5 and has not been heard from since.
Her family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to her recovery.
Sangamon County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the disappearance. Capt. Tom Hendrickson on Friday said it still is considered an open missing-persons case.
Family members said they are considering hiring a private investigator to work in conjunction with sheriff’s detectives.
Anyone with information about Bianco’s whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 788-8427. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
Bianco lived in the Lincoln Place Mobile Home Park off Old Route 36 and last was heard from while she was at her cousin’s home on South Grand Avenue East.
She is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 110 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was believed to be wearing blue jeans, a blue sweater and possibly a blue coat.

Missing Woman's Family Wants Answers
Reported by: Blake Wood / WCIA 3 & MyCFN News
Monday, Apr 6, 2009 @06:52pm CST
SPRINGFIELD - A missing Riverton woman's family says more needs to be done to find her.
44-year-old Michelle Bianco has been missing for a year.
Her family says communication has broken down with investigators from the Sangamon County Sherriff's office. Michelle's sister says she hasn't heard from the sheriff's department in months. They hired a private investigator on their own.
“We would just like it be over we'd like her to be found so we could have a memorial service for her and get this all behind us,” said sister Pat Noyes.
Investigators say for the most part tips have dried up, but the case is still open.
“We've spent a lot of man hours over the last year looking into the case and we continue to spend as much time as we can,” said Chief Deputy Jack Campbell.
Bianco was last seen at South Grand and Wheeler in April of last year. A witness claims a man pushed her into a car and no one's seen her since.
“We've basically come to a point we realize we have lost her,” said Noyes.
Hope has started to fade as time passes. Investigators say they're no closer to finding answers.
“We know how important this is for the family and it is frustrating to us because we want to help, but we're limited on what information we have,” said Campbell.
Noyes feels there's someone out there who has that information, but she doubts she'll ever find closure.
“I don't think we ever will I really don't. We pray everyday that we will, but I think deep in our hearts we know that we never will,” said Noyes.
The sheriff's department has six other open missing person's cases. They date back to the 1980's.
The family is offering at $10,000 reward for any information leading to Bianco. If you have a tip call Crimestoppers at 217-788-8427.

THE STATE JOURNAL-REGISTER

A Springfield woman’s disappearance a year ago remains an active missing person’s case with county investigators, but tips about her whereabouts have slowed to a trickle, authorities said.
The family of Michelle “Shelly” Miles Bianco ran a full-page ad in Sunday’s State Journal-Register to mark one year since Bianco was last seen. The family is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to her being found.
Jack Campbell, chief deputy with the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office, said the department received a lead about Bianco three weeks ago. He declined to elaborate on the nature of the tip.
“We take every lead and run it until there’s no place left to go with it. When you don’t get very many leads, there aren’t very many places to go,” he said.
“We’re hoping the year anniversary sparks some memories. If people have been sitting on something not knowing if it was good information, or if they’ve been afraid to come forward, we need them to come forward now.”
Anyone with information can call investigators at the sheriff’s office at 753-6840 or can anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 788-8427.
Bianco, 44, lived in the Lincoln Place Mobile Home Park off Old Route 36 and last was heard from while at her cousin’s home on South Grand Avenue at Wheeler Avenue about 7:30 p.m. April 5, 2008.
She is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 110 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. At the time of her disappearance, Bianco was thought to be wearing blue jeans, a blue sweater and possibly a blue coat.
Campbell would not specify how many tips the county has received about the Bianco case in the last year.
“We’ve received numerous tips through Crime Stoppers, through friends and family members. We have followed up on all that we could as far as we could take them, and we continue to look into any new leads that come in,” Campbell said.
The sheriff’s office has six open missing adult cases dating back to 1987.
