Search continues for missing Glendive woman
By GREG TUTTLE
Of The Gazette Staff
Update 3:38 p.m. - A massive search effort is being conducted in Dawson County and along the Interstate 94 corridor between Glendive and Billings for a 34-year-old woman who remains missing.
Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson said today that the search continues for Susan Marie Casey, who was last seen early Saturday in Glendive. State agents from the Montana Division of Criminal Investigations are involved in the case.
Anderson said the search has included dozens of volunteers who have covered nearly 700 square miles of Dawson County since late Saturday night. A helicopter from the Department of Homeland Security flew over the county Sunday looking for the woman, Anderson said.
Several private aircraft have also been used in the search, and volunteers on horseback, on all-terrain vehicles and on foot have been at work since Sunday, Anderson said.
“This community is real concerned about Susan’s status and we have a lot of people looking for her,” Anderson said.
The Montana Highway Patrol is watching Interstate 94 between Glendive and Billings, the sheriff said, and law enforcement agencies along that stretch of highway have also been alerted to watch for the woman.
The search effort has included family and friends of the woman who spent time searching alleys and other areas in downtown Glendive, Anderson said. Casey was last seen in the downtown area about 5 a.m. Saturday and was reported missing that afternoon, Anderson said.
The sheriff declined to discuss specifics of a criminal investigation, saying he did not want to jeopardize a possible future prosecution. But court and jail records indicate that a Billings man was arrested and charged with violating a permanent order of protection on the same day Casey disappeared.
Walter Martin Larson, 37, was booked in to the Yellowstone County jail on Monday at about 12:30 p.m. on a Dawson County warrant, jail records reflect. Larson posted a $5,000 bond and was released at 5 p.m. He was ordered to appear in Dawson County Justice Court within 10 days.
According to a complaint filed Monday against Larson, a sheriff’s deputy said: “During the course of a missing person case your affiant discovered numerous and repeated attempts made by the defendant to the cell phone of the petitioner, Susan Casey. The Verizon cell phone call detail history of the defendant’s showed 44 attempts from April 10th, 2008 to April 12th, 2008 that he made to the cell phone of the petitioner, Susan Casey.”
The calls allegedly violate a permanent order of protection granted to Casey against Larson in Dawson County Justice Court on Nov. 2, 1998.
According to Billings Gazette archives, Larson and Casey, whose maiden name is Limesand, received a marriage license in Yellowstone County in 1993.
Anderson declined to comment on a possible connection between the criminal charge filed against Larson and Casey’s disappearance. He also declined to comment on previous information that a silver minivan possibly connected to the woman’s disappearance was found in Billings.
Anderson said the search effort will continue “until we have resolution.” Casey is a mother of four children and works at the Glendive Medical Center, he said.

Update 9:04 a.m. - Authorities in Dawson County are again asking the public for help in the search for a Glendive woman missing since early Saturday.
Dawson County Undersheriff Rich Rowe said volunteers are needed to help in the search efforts. He said volunteers with horses or all-terrain vehicles are also in need.
“Volunteers should be prepared for the elements and will need to be self-sufficient,” Rowe said in a press release.
Rowe also asked landowners in Dawson County to look around their property.
No other information about the case was released. Authorities conducted a similar search effort on Monday.
Authorities are looking for 34-year-old Susan Marie Casey who was last seen at about 5 a.m. in Glendive.
On Monday, Glendive Police Chief Alan Michaels said a silver minivan possibly connected with Casey’s disappearance was located in Billings. He said Casey is considered a missing person, but declined further comment.
Authorities have said Casey was last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with writing on the front and stripes down the sleeves, blue jeans and tennis shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office at 377-5291. Rowe said volunteers should go to the Sheriff’s Office for directions, instructions and registration.

Authorities Searching for Montana Mother Missing Since Saturday
Wednesday, April 16, 2008
BILLINGS, Mont. — A search is under way between Glendive and Billings for a 34-year-old woman last seen early Saturday in Glendive, while a Billings man has been arrested on charges he violated a restraining order the woman had filed against him in 1998, officials said.
Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson said searchers began looking for Susan Marie Casey Saturday night.
"This community is real concerned about Susan's status, and we have a lot of people looking for her," Anderson said.
Anderson said dozens of volunteers have covered nearly 700 square miles of Dawson County since late Saturday night. A helicopter from the Department of Homeland Security flew over the county Sunday looking for the woman, Anderson said.
Several private aircraft have been used in the search, and volunteers on horseback, on all-terrain vehicles and on foot have been at work since Sunday. The Yellowstone River is being searched by boat, he said.
The investigation into Casey's disappearance led to the arrest Monday of Walter M. Larson, 37, of Billings for violating a restraining order Casey filed against him in Dawson County in November 1998.
Court records said investigators found 44 attempted phone calls between Larson's phone and Casey's cell phone from last Thursday through Saturday, in violation of the restraining order.
Larson posted a $5,000 bond Monday afternoon and was released from jail. He was ordered to appear in Justice Court in Dawson County within 10 days.
Anderson declined to comment on a possible connection between the criminal charge filed against Larson and Casey's disappearance. He also declined comment on information previously released by Glendive police that a silver minivan possibly connected with Casey's disappearance was found in Billings.
Casey is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs 125 pounds and has brown hair. Authorities have said Casey was last seen wearing a white hooded sweat shirt with writing on the front and stripes down the sleeves, blue jeans and tennis shoes.
She has four children.

Officers suspend search for woman
By GREG TUTTLE
Of The Gazette Staff
The search for a Glendive woman missing since Saturday was called off Thursday by law enforcement authorities.
"This does not mean that the investigation has stopped or even slowed," Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson said in a statement issued at 3 p.m. "We continue to exhaust every means possible to bring about an end to this case."
Dozens of volunteers have been searching for 34-year-old Susan Marie Casey, who was last seen in Glendive at 5 a.m. Saturday. Since then, a massive search has been conducted with volunteers on all-terrain vehicles, on horseback and on foot. Aircraft and boats have also been used in the search, and law enforcement agencies from Glendive to Billings along the Interstate 94 corridor have been watching for the woman.
Anderson said the search will resume if new information surfaces "that would direct us to a specific area of location." The decision to suspend the search was made after consulting with Casey's family, Anderson said.
"We have met privately with the family of Susan Casey, who agree that everything that can possibly be done is being done in efforts to locate Susan," Anderson said in the statement.
Anderson added that Casey may have been wearing a black leather jacket when she disappeared. Previously, officials have said she was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with writing on the front and stripes down the sleeves, blue jeans and tennis shoes. She is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall, 125 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
Casey, a mother of four who works at the Glendive Medical Center, was reported missing by her family Saturday afternoon. Searchers on all-terrain vehicles started looking for her that evening, and the search was expanded in the days that followed to include dozens of volunteers who covered nearly 1,700 square miles of Dawson County, Anderson said.
The investigation is being conducted by the Dawson County Sheriff's Office and the Glendive Police Department. The state Division of Criminal Investigation has sent four agents to assist.
Authorities said a minivan that could be connected to the woman's disappearance was found in Billings, but they have declined to elaborate. Authorities have also not commented on the circumstances of Casey's disappearance.
A Billings man, Casey's ex-husband, Walter Martin Larson, 37, was arrested Monday and charged with a misdemeanor crime of violating a protective order that prohibited him from having contact with Casey. In court records, a Dawson County deputy said a search of Larson's cell phone showed that he made 44 calls to her between April 10 and April 12, the day she disappeared.
Larson posted a $5,000 bond within hours of his arrest and was released from the Yellowstone County jail. He was ordered to appear for arraignment in Dawson County Justice Court within 10 days.
Anderson has declined to comment on whether authorities believe there is a connection between Larson and Casey's disappearance.

I wish they would hang him by his toes, till he tells what he did with her.
They need to confirm the minivan found in Billings was hers, put a picture of the van & exhusband in the paper to see if anyone says, "yes, he stopped here for gas or something. I would be checking around the rest areas in between Glendive & Billings as he could pull into one of those without raising suspicion, wait & get rid of her. I doubt he stuck around Glendive long driving her van as Glendive is a quite small town. Somebody would have noticed.

Search for missing Glendive woman suspended
Updated: April 18, 2008
The search for a missing woman from Glendive has been suspended as her ex-husband awaits a court appearance.
Officials made the decision to suspend the search for Susan Casey, 34, because authorities have found no new leads since she disappeared this past Saturday.
Volunteers used ATV's to search for the Casey along Interstate 94 just outside Glendive on Thursday. Other searched for her on horseback, while volunteers also checked the Yellowstone River for the missing mother of four children.
After checking more than 1,700 square miles in Dawson County, Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson announced that the search will be put on hold until new information surfaces that can lead authorities to a more specific location.
The Sheriff thanked all of the volunteers, adding "we ask that your continued thoughts and prayers be with Susan, her children, and their family during this time".
Casey's ex-husband was arrested in Billings on Monday for violating an order of protection against her. He now has 10 days to appear in Glendive city court.

Karlyne is the Call Center Manager of the Williston office. She is currently with her parents, siblings and Susan’s children in Glendive assisting in search efforts. Please keep Susan, Karlyne and all of the family in your thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.
Some of you have asked if you can help. Karlyne advised this morning that a fund has been set up to help with the search effort costs (gas for the ATVs, etc…). For those interested in donating, here is how to do so.

I do not wish to bring negative thoughts to this site and I am praying that Susan will be found safe.
There was a fire on an island on the Yellowstone River in Billings, MT on Sunday night. The DNRC is investigating the cause of the fire. Do they know that Susan is missing? If not I feel they should be notified. Someone posted that check blanks were found in the river.

Yes is is Karlyne's sister but not her twin. Just thought I would straigten that out. Yes her checks were found by the Yellowstone but by Miles City MT. And yes the Billings authorities know that she is missing. I am also a relative.

From The K-B-L-G News Center...
A TREE AND BRUSH FIRE ON AN ISLAND IN THE YELLOWSTONE RIVER LAST NIGHT.
BILLINGS FIRE DEPARTMENT BATTALION CHIEF TERRY LARSON SAYS IT HAPPENED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF SUGAR AND GARDEN AVENUES AT ABOUT 10:30.
HE SAYS THEY HAD SOME TROUBLE GETTING TO THE ISLAND, BUT FINALLY FOUND A SHALLOW CHANNELL WHERE THEY COULD DRIVE MOST OF THEIR APPARATUS ACROSS THE WATER. LARSON SAYS IT TOOK ABOUT TWO HOURS TO KNOCK THE FLAMES DOWN, AND SOME HOT SPOTS REMAINED WHEN THEY TURNED IT OVER TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION.
D-N-R-C WILL INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE. NO ONE WAS HURT.

Okay, I tried to make the river runs backwards, sorry. But there was a van found in Billings correct. If the Dept. of Natural Resources doesn't know what started the fire, I would make sure they understand that Susan is missing. Is it possible there is a body on that island? That sounds harsh but the ex is not in jail.

Has the islands on the river at Miles City been searched?
I think it was the husband, not the ex. The ex may have been stalking her and saw something and thats why he called the family and told them something was wrong. I personally think the husband did it and buried her in the landfill. They were getting divorced and he had A LOT to lose. Land, money, etc. But the police have yet to look into that even after several tips were made. Probably because he has something to do with the city, which is why he would have had access to the landfill at night.

Search for Glendive woman continues
34-year-old disappeared April 12; case featured on national Web site
By GREG TUTTLE
Of The Gazette Staff
Authorities in Dawson County continue to search for a Glendive woman who has been missing for nearly three weeks in a case that has drawn national attention.
Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson said Wednesday that few clues have surfaced about the location of Susan Marie Casey, a 34-year-old mother of four. A search involving hundreds of volunteers launched in the days immediately after her disappearance has been scaled down to include local and regional law enforcement authorities, Anderson said.
Casey was last seen at about 5 a.m. April 12 in downtown Glendive. The search was launched that evening after family members reported her missing. In the following days, officers and volunteers covered 1,700 square miles. The search extended west toward Billings along the Interstate 94 corridor.
The search included hundreds of volunteers on foot, horseback, all-terrain vehicles, boats and aircraft. On April 17, authorities said they were temporarily suspending the search. Since then, law enforcement authorities have continued their efforts on a smaller scale, Anderson said. On Tuesday, a helicopter from the U.S. Border Patrol flew over the area and a jet boat went out on the Yellowstone River, the sheriff said.
The case is featured on the Web site of "America's Most Wanted."
Last Friday, Casey's former husband appeared in Dawson County Justice Court and pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of violating an order of protection. Authorities say the Billings man, Walter Martin Larson, made 44 calls to Casey between April 10 and April 12, the day she disappeared.
Larson, 37, was arrested in Billings on April 14 and was released within hours after posting a $5,000 bond. He was released on the previously posted bond after appearing in court last week to enter a plea. He is being represented by a public defender. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for June 11.
Anderson has declined to comment on whether authorities believe Larson is connected to Casey's disappearance.

I hope the reminder of it brings new leads!!
Well my last message was deleted by the Administrator. I guess we don't have First Amendment Rights here. The administrator seems to think our job is to be helplessly blind to the faults of the people who have disappeared. The reality of it is that Susan is (or was) a very troubled person. Her self destructive behavior has a direct link to her disappearance. Believe me, I support her husband, her children and the family, in more ways than the Administrator of this webpage could ever know. But we must be given the chance to let it be known what really happened. First Amendment? Not here!

Has the Glendive Police Department (GPD) or the Dawson County Sheriff's office given the thought to the fact that maybe it is NOT either of Susan's husbands who did anything? I think they're looking under the wrong rock.

We don't know why he called her 44 times. He went to court and pleaded not guilty. His trial for violation of restraining order is in June. Only time will tell.
44 phone calls could be anything. A restraining order typically states that there is to be NO contact regardless of who makes it. The man has no brain, so what? He fathered two of her children and she wanted him to see them. Maybe he wanted to see them. She was routinely going to Billings to see him and he was routinely coming to Glendive to see her. They had been in contact, which she initiated. Call him stupid for answering her phone calls! It doesn't make him guilty of anything other than violating a restraining order.

That doesn't take away from the fact that she is missing. There are still people that love her and care for her and who will seek closure regardless of the circumstances.
If you mother, brother, sister or father were an alcoholic and disappeared would you want closure? Would the circumstances matter?
From my perspective, the most telling detail at this point is the 44 phone calls made to her cell phone by Walter while Susan had an active order of protection against him.

In this story, there is no understanding.
What is your stake in this case? Related to Walter by chance?
Well, let's just say I know things you don't. Of course I wish closure for them (if there is such a term.) There's never closure....only learning to deal with it. The circumstances DO matter. If there had been intervention when Susan was young and needed help the circumstances would be drastically different. She would have led an entirely different life. Been an entirely different person, wife, mother. I know her parents and siblings love her, but they love her too late.
I'm pretty sure that by now Susan has passed away. If there is an afterlife, I'm very sure that Susan is very remorseful at how she lived her life and did not take care of her children. Her second husband is a wonderful father and person. Very quiet and patient with his children. He took on the responsibility of her two children and had two more with her. He took care of everything as best he could while still trying to hold down two jobs to pay for her shopping habits. There are always two versions of what happened. Who speaks for him?

05-02-2008, 05:21 PM
I don't believe that I said that I wanted to forget about Susan. I'm almost positive that I know way more about this than anyone else. She is someone's mother, sister, and daughter. Closure would be the best thing for any of them.
And I would like to add, that it has been deleted the "way" in which Susan lived her life, but the comment made by GPD about it being the "husband" who "killed her" was left in there. As far as we all know, she's still listed as "missing" not dead.
Thank you

Circumstance matter when it's related to the search and recovery. They are irrelevant when it comes to the pain and suffering this is causing her family not knowing where she is. Apparently, I should have been more specific. I was hoping you would take a step back and look at the situation from her families perspective. Please understand that in most cases the husband is the FIRST person LE looks at for obvious reasons. Secondly, the media and LE didn't do you or Walter any favors by publishing the details related to the 44 phone calls to Susan's cell phone. I don't see any reason that would further their investigation. Problem is, one is almost left to believe Walter is a person of interest just based on the media accounts and we both know that is not the case at this point.

SRT, The objective of those who do not live in the towns and cities of missing etc is to be here on the internet for support to the families and for the victims. We read and listen to what we can and try to sort it out in our own minds.
Our hope is that all the missing will be found safe but, common sense tells us that won't happen. If and when a missing person is found deceased we want justice for that person. No matter who the perpretrator is. No matter if it's a spouse, friend, family member or person unknown to the deceased.
However, the one thing that stands out in any case portrayed here is that no matter what the deceased lifestyle was prior to death, or to being kidnapped, they do not deserve to be murdered or involuntarily taken.
I hope Susan shows up and says, I left on my own, voluntarily, with no help from any other person or persons.

IMO- Tom & Susan's cases are not related. Tom's case was a horrible accident. He had been drinking through a time period that afternoon-evening? Tom did not really drink like that. Reports of irradict driving & running in the ditch, has convinced me beyond doubt Tom was very disorientated & somewhat intoxicated.( I have not seen toxicology reports though) Truly these cases are not connected.
Although I did not read the post that was deleted, reading other posts that mentions drug activity caught my eye. While there is a drug problem in Billings,(our largest city in the state) I believe Glendive also has some problems. If any of the Glendive residents could help me recall a couple murders in Glendive. I am thinking of a young man ripped off a drug person & a number of young men were charged for his murder & burning of the corpse. Another murder was done many years ago by a young man with the last name Turner ? Don't remember if it was drug related.
My husband & I used to go to Glendive for car shows & bowling tournaments. We had a couple friends that lived there also. I recall while playing live poker in Glendive at the time of the young man's murder & burning, I mentioned how awful it was & somebody there said like, the murder victim shouldn't have done what he did(ripping somebody off). I like dropped the subject & thought to myself, better not go there.:71526:
Name: Douglas Turner
Age: 28
Hometown: Bozeman
Mr. Turner received the death penalty in 1992 for his involvement in the 1990 beating death of fellow inmate Gerald Pileggi. Mr. Turner was already serving a life term for killing three Glendive residents in 1987, when he was only 16. He and co-inmate William Gollehon were also convicted of helping murder five other inmates during the 1991 prison riot. Mr. Turner has an appeal pending in state district court.

Thank you Bubba. Yes it was Steve Berry.
On November 30, 2000, McDanold met with Lance Deines and two other men in Glendive, Montana, to discuss the recent theft of a safe belonging to Deines. The safe had contained ten grams of cocaine, cash and collector baseball cards. Deines suspected the thief was Steve Berry, who reportedly had come into possession of a quantity of cocaine and had talked to a mutual acquaintance about breaking into Deines' house while Deines was attending a rock concert in North Dakota.
McDanold and another man located Berry and brought him to the back of Deines' house, where they confronted and threatened him, and assaulted him with a baseball bat. Berry admitted he had participated in the theft of the safe. McDanold, Deines and the two other men then forced Berry into Deines' car and drove around Glendive in an attempt to recover the stolen items. McDanold sat next to Berry in the back seat, where he poked Berry with his elbow, hit Berry in the head and burned Berry's hand with a cigarette. Berry eventually helped the men find the safe, but it was broken and empty. Deines then drove the car out of town on Belle Prairie Road. He removed Berry from the back seat and fired a pistol into the air, pointed the pistol at Berry, and threatened him and forced him to beg for his life. Finally, Deines drove everyone back to town, where the men released Berry. This incident is the basis for McDanold's guilty pleas to kidnapping and assault with a weapon by accountability.
In December of 2000, and with help from an accomplice, Deines kidnapped and killed Berry. McDanold--who was living with Deines at that time--was not present when Deines killed Berry, but Deines told him about the murder later that night. When police officers questioned McDanold about Berry's disappearance, McDanold provided false information. This incident is the basis for McDanold's guilty plea to obstruction of justice.
During the same month, McDanold and three others used an explosive compound to blow up an old car outside Glendive. This is the basis for McDanold's guilty plea to possession of explosives.
Thus, of the six felony counts with which the State of Montana charged McDanold, he pled guilty to four and two were dismissed pursuant to a plea bargain. A sentencing hearing was held on December 20, 2002. The District Court sentenced McDanold to 10 years in prison for aggravated kidnapping, 15 years for assault with a weapon, 5 years for obstructing justice and 5 years (suspended) for possession of explosives. The prison terms are concurrent and the 5-year suspended sentence is to run consecutively to the prison terms. The court ordered McDanold to pay restitution to the owner of the damaged car and to the crime victims compensation fund and Berry's parents for funeral expenses and

SRT I wish I knew where you were getting all of your WRONG information. I am a family member and do know Susie quite well. This self destructive person on drugs etc. that you are talking about is not Susie.
Susie has always been loved and supported by her family and they have always helped her in many ways. How can you be so sure it is not the second husband. Did you live with him so you know how he is behind closed doors. He happened to spend a night in jail for abuse if you recall. Did you see how he treated his two step children and hear the things he said to them. Because I did more than once!!!!
You seem to have a lot of information about this case the rest of us don't so maybe you should be talking to the Glendive PD.
I have a feeling that you are the same person who wrote on another site and got kicked off for the things that you said. They were all also untrue.
As a family member we would just like to find Susie and whoever did this to her. So we can have some peace. I also thought this site was to help not bash the VICTIM.
Grande thank you for all of the wonderful things that you do here including stopping the bashing, as I know alot of her family members read this site and some were very upset by what SRT was saying about Susie. Because as a family we know them to be untrue and wonder why SRT would want people every where to think that she has all of these problems.
Why would you want people to think that her family never showed her love we have been there for her in everything that she has done, and every decision she has made good or bad, WE HAVE LOVED AND SUPPORTED HER. Why do you want people to think that she was self destructive and on drugs. I have come to a few conclusions you either have nothing better to do with your time, or you get some thrill out of hurting families, or you are trying to make her look bad so when the truth comes out and we find out who did it you can make this person look good and make them the victim. Which makes me wonder how much you do know and if maybe GPD should be questioning you.

I would like to say that if the police are looking at the current husband, they are completely wrong. Please, PLEASE! I know that it's not the current husband. I've seen him with the step children and I have never seen him physically abuse or mentally abuse the children or Susie. He's a victim too. You say that you are scared that this may happen to our children or others, but yet you know the witness and what was told to you, if something else does happen then it is on you for not helping the matter, and how dare you make the statement it scares you and not do a damn thing about it. Body found in river near Fallon

Authorities have discovered a dead body in the Yellowstone River, just outside of Fallon, Montana.
According to Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson, the body was then turned over to the Dawson County coroner and has since been transported to Billings for an autopsy.
Until that autopsy has been concluded, they cannot identify the remains, but Dawson County authorities have been on the search for a missing Glendive woman, Susan Casey, 34.
Casey has been missing since April 12th and was last seen early that Saturday morning in downtown Glendive.
With no solid leads, officials suspended the search later that week after searching nearly 1,700 miles of Dawson County.

I dont know what to say about the post that they may have found her.....I met Susie about 12 years ago When I lived in Circle, she was so nice to me and always so upbeat, her sister babysat for me when i first moved to town(Circle). When I first read about this was in the Billings paper and I was just sick about it.......She was to me a friend, even though we never spoke after I left Circle. I lost my dad 24 years ago to what the cops say was a drowning in the missouri river , his body has never been found. So this about Susie has touched my heart, and I hate to hear of this out come but, They will have her and no more wondering where she is. And can now fight for justice with whoever did this to her. I also want to say to all the ones who said things bad about her YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSElVES!!!!!And to that one who said they knew a woman who knew something....YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!! My heart goes out to the WHOLE FAMILY, I'll grieve with you! Let there be justice for Susie!!!
Just as we were hearing the news about the discovery a big thunderstorm came over the area and lasted only a very short time then a double rainbow showed up. I guess we're being told by a "higher authority" that everything is going to be okay in the long run. I hope so. If anyone deserves peace in her life Susan does.

Way to weird on the post of the body found by Fallon. I had a dream or should I say nightmare this last weekend that he but her in the river by the bridge before Fallon and then as he drove towards Billings he went thru her purse and things and got rid her personal stuff like the checks that were found by Miles City. I remember in that nightmare that a person who was paddle fishing found her. I'm not saying that my dreams or nightmares always come to a real ending but lately over the past year alot of them have. Even my husband is shocked at some of them. I never wanted to think this would come to a real truth with Susie but if it has to be, we might have her back with us to say our good-byes. I'm so sorry Ted!! We care and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Your old roping buddies that now live in Dickinson.

Missing Glendive woman’s body found in Yellowstone River near Fallon
By Tribune staff and The Associated Press
BILLINGS — The body of a Glendive woman reported missing has been found in the Yellowstone River near Fallon, about nine miles northeast of Terry, according to the Dawson County sheriff's office.
The Dawson County sheriff says the body of 34-year-old Susan Casey was transported to Billings for an autopsy.
Authorities in Dawson County had been searching for Casey since April 12.
Sheriff Craig Anderson said the missing-person investigation has been changed to a suspicious-death investigation.
Casey's ex-husband, Walter Larson, pleaded not guilty to violating an order of protection. Court records say Larson made 44 calls to her phone in the days prior to her disappearance.
Anderson has made no comment on whether he believes Larson is connected to Casey's disappearance.

Body Found in Yellowstone River Identified as That of Missing Montana Mother
Wednesday, May 07, 2008
BILLINGS, Mont. — The body of a 34-year-old Glendive woman who was reported missing on April 12 has been found in the Yellowstone River, Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson said Wednesday.
Susan Casey's body was found Tuesday near Fallon, about 30 miles from Glendive.
"With the discovery of Susan Casey's body, we have switched from a missing person investigation to a suspicious death investigation," Anderson said, adding he would not comment further.
Casey had four children and worked at the Glendive Medical Center.
Casey's ex-husband, Walter Larson, 37, was arrested in Billings two days after she was reported missing and was charged with violating an order of protection. Court records said investigators found 44 attempted phone calls between Larson's phone and Casey's cell phone in the days before she disappeared.
Larson has pleaded not guilty in Justice Court in Dawson County, where the restraining order was filed in 1998. The phone records were searched as part of the investigation into Casey's disappearance.
At the time of Larson's arrest, Anderson declined to comment on a possible connection between the charge filed against Larson and Casey's disappearance.

Body identified as missing Glendive woman
By BECKY SHAY - Billings Gazette - 05/08/08
BILLINGS — Co-workers at Glendive Medical Center on Wednesday remembered Susan Limesand Casey as always smiling.
Casey, 34, was missing from April 12 until Tuesday, when her body was found in the Yellowstone River near Fallon.
A mother of four, she worked in Glendive Medical Center’s medical records department for 10 years. Co-workers called Casey a wonderful person who embraced a passion for exceptional customer service, always making the customers a top priority, spokeswoman Cathy Kirkpatrick said.
“Our hearts go out to Susie’s family,” said Scott Duke, CEO at the facility. “At a time like this, words really cannot express the depth of our sorrow at this unexpected and tragic loss.”
Law enforcement officials released few details about the investigation into Casey’s death, which is considered suspicious.
Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson said his agency was contacted Tuesday after a body was seen in the river, about 1 1/2 miles downstream from the Interstate 94 bridge outside of Fallon in Prairie County. He would not comment on cause of death or how long Casey had been in the water.
Several weeks ago, hospital staff placed yellow ribbons around the medical center in honor of Casey, Kirkpatrick said. She received employee of the quarter recognition in 2005 after being nominated by co-workers, Kirkpatrick said.
“Susie was very outgoing, always offering a cheerful greeting,” Kirkpatrick said.
Casey was last seen about 5 a.m. in Glendive and reported missing by her family that afternoon. Volunteers, including medical providers at the hospital, and law enforcement searched nearly 1,700 square miles of Dawson County and the Interstate 94 corridor to Billings during the following week.
The extensive search was suspended on April 17, but the investigation into Casey’s disappearance continued until she was found.
Dawson County Sheriff’s Office is leading the suspicious death investigation with assistance from Glendive Police, the state Division of Criminal Investigation and Prairie County.
Anderson said searchers had flown over the area where Casey’s body was found a number of times, had jet boats on the river and had asked people fishing in the river to keep an eye out.
Casey was featured as a missing person on the Web site of the television show “America’s Most Wanted.”
On April 25, Casey’s former husband appeared in Dawson County Justice Court and pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of violating an order of protection. Authorities say the Billings man, Walter Martin Larson, made 44 calls to Casey between April 10 and April 12, the day she disappeared.
Larson, 37, was arrested in Billings on April 14 and was released within hours after posting a $5,000 bond. He is being represented by a public defender. A pretrial hearing has been scheduled for June 11.
Funeral services for Casey are pending.
The Glendive Medical Center is planning a memorial service for hospital staff which will be led by the Rev. Curt Curtis, the center’s chaplain.

Clues sought in woman's death
By The Gazette Staff
Authorities are asking for the public's help in the investigation into the death of a Glendive woman.
Susan Casey was considered missing after she was last seen April 12 in Glendive. Her body was found at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in the Yellowstone River in Prairie County, near Fallon.
Prairie County Sheriff Bill Klunder is asking boaters, anglers and anyone on the river between Forsyth and Glendive to be on the lookout for personal items that may help in the investigation.
Findings should be reported to the local sheriff's office, Klunder said. That stretch of the Yellowstone meanders through Rosebud, Custer, Prairie and Dawson counties. An obituary for Casey states that she died on April 12 in Glendive because it was the last day she was seen alive, Dawson County Coroner Lance Silha said. Casey's family reported her missing that day, and a large-scale search was launched.
During the next five days, volunteers and law officers searched hundreds of miles by foot, ATVs, horseback, airplanes and jet boats. The massive search was suspended April 17, but the Sheriff's Office and Glendive police continued to investigate her disappearance.
The case became a suspicious-death investigation after Casey's body was found. Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson, who is leading the investigation, has not released the cause of death.
According to the obituary, Casey was born in Wolf Point. She was raised in Circle and graduated there with the class of 1992. She attended Billings Business College and graduated in 1993. She worked at the McCone County Nursing Home in Circle for five years before moving to Glendive, where she worked as a medical transcriptionist for the past 10 years.
Casey's survivors include her daughters, Marya, Kyana and Charlee, and her son, Shay; her husband, Ted Casey, all of Glendive; her parents, Jack and Marlene Limesand of Circle, two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation at Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home will be Sunday. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive. Burial is at 2 p.m. in Riverview Cemetery in Circle.

Glendive death called suspicious
By GREG TUTTLE
Of The Gazette Staff
The investigation continues into the death of a Glendive woman whose body was found in the Yellowstone River, law enforcement authorities said Wednesday.
Susan Marie Casey, 34, was reported missing from Glendive on April 12. Following a massive search effort, her body was found in the river near Fallon in Prairie County on May 6.
Authorities have not released a cause of Casey's death, which they are calling suspicious.
In a press release issued Wednesday by the Montana Department of Justice, authorities said several agencies continue "diligently working on the case."
John Strandell, chief of the state Division of Criminal Investigation, said several agents and officers are working full time on the case. He said authorities are not revealing how Casey died, because that information is a "key part of our investigation."
The Dawson and Prairie counties sheriff's offices and the Glendive Police Department are also involved in the investigation.
A mother of four who worked at the Glendive Medical Center, Casey was reported missing by family members. Investigators have said she was last seen in Glendive at 5 a.m. on April 12. The circumstances of her disappearance have not been publicly disclosed by investigators.
The search for Casey included dozens of volunteers, some on horseback and all-terrain vehicles. Authorities said the search eventually covered 1,700 square miles of Dawson County and was expanded to include the Interstate 94 corridor between Glendive and Billings.
On April 14, two days after Casey disappeared, the woman's former husband was arrested in Billings on a Dawson County warrant charging him with violating a permanent order of protection prohibiting him from having contact with Casey. Prosecutors allege Walter Martin Larson made 44 calls to Casey between April 10 and April 12.
Larson, 37, has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge and remains free on a $5,000 bond. His next court appearance in Dawson County is scheduled on June 11.

Yes, there are two sides to every story. SRT whenever anyone knows both a "victim" and a possible suspect it makes the situation worse. No one can ever change what they believe to be the truth about someone, good or bad. It makes it much more difficult when a person is related or dating a possible suspect. And it can be hurtful when someone you care about is being accused without the benefit of knowing the "victim".
But, no one ever really knows anyone these days. Pray and hope for the best. I have been on both sides and it's painful. If you know first hand any information that would assist someone as in this case I would immediately go to authorities. A public message does board does little in seeking the truth.
The adminstrator on this or any site can only remain effective when they stay neutral until all the facts are presented.

BILLINGS - The investigation continues into the death of a Glendive woman. The body of 34-year-old Susan Casey was pulled from the river near Fallon in Prairie County May 6, nearly three weeks after she was reported missing. The cause of death has not been released.
The Dawson County Attorney said Casey's ex-husband, Walter Larson, is scheduled to appear in Dawson County Justice Court June 11 on a misdemeanor charge of violating a restraining order Casey had against him prior to her disappearance.
The Glendive Police Department, Dawson County Sheriff's Office and state investigators are still working on the case.

Obviously, the LE is thinking Susan's death was suspicious. I believe there are many issues with Susan's death that the public is not aware of. I guess we will find out more in time.
With the issue of the 44 calls from the ex husband in two days sets off all kinds to warning bells to me. That just seems like to me to be very excessive.
I pray that the friends and family of Susan may feel the Lords comfort and they will receive the answers they so desperately need.

Charges dismissed against Glendive woman's ex-husband
Charges against a Billings man, whose ex-wife's dead body was recently found in the Yellowstone River, have now been dropped.
The body of Susan Casey, 34, of Glendive was found May 6th in the Yellowstone River near Fallon.
Casey had been missing since April 12th.
Her ex-husband, Walter Larson of Billings, was arrested April 14th for violating a restraining order Casey had filed against him.
Court records say he made 44 calls to her phone in the days before she disappeared.
Now those charges have been dismissed.
Dawson County Attorney Scott Herring confirmed to Montana's News Station that Dawson County Justice of the Peace Ed Williamson dismissed the charges on Monday after defense attorneys for Larson filed a motion to dismiss.
Defense attorneys argued that Larson had never received a notice of the restraining order and therefore should not be held liable for violating the order.
Meanwhile, the investigation into Susan Casey's case and what authorities are calling a "suspicious death" continues.

Glendive mother's death 1 year ago remains unsolved
The death of a Glendive woman whose body was found in the Yellowstone River several weeks after she disappeared one year ago remains a mystery.
Authorities are saying little about the disappearance and death of Susan Casey, a 34-year-old mother of four who was reported missing by her family on April 12, 2008.
Two days after she went missing, Casey's ex-husband was arrested on a misdemeanor charge that was later dropped. No charges have been filed related to the case that investigators have described only as a suspicious death.
Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson and County Attorney Scott Herring referred questions about the status of the case to the Montana Attorney General's Office, although Herring did say the case remains an "active and ongoing investigation."
Kevin O'Brien, a spokesman for the Attorney General's Office, said the case remains under investigation and is being reviewed by the state agency's prosecutorial services bureau. O'Brien said he could not comment on any other aspects of the case, including how Casey died.
"We have not yet and cannot at this time release the cause of death in the Susan Casey case as it is part of the ongoing investigation," he said.
A message left for Casey's parents in Circle was not returned. Casey's husband in Glendive has an unlisted telephone number.
According to information previously released, Casey was last seen at 5 a.m. April 12 last year in downtown Glendive. A search was launched later that day after her family reported her missing.
The search grew into a massive effort during the following days and included dozens of volunteers who searched for Casey on foot, horseback, all-terrain vehicles, boats and aircraft in an area that eventually covered 1,700 square miles of Eastern Montana.
Searchers later focused their attention on the Interstate 94 corridor west toward Billings. Agents from the state Division of Criminal Investigation joined the case shortly after Casey was reported missing.
The search was suspended April 17, although authorities said the investigation was continuing and search efforts could be started again if new information surfaced.
The search was featured on the Web site of "America's Most Wanted."
Then on May 6, authorities announced that a body had been found in the Yellowstone River near Fallon in Prairie County. The body was later identified as Casey. Officials at the time declined to say how the woman died or how long they suspected she had been in the water.
A possible suspect in the case emerged two days after Casey disappeared when authorities arrested Walter Larson of Billings. Larson, Casey's ex-husband, was accused of violating a restraining order by making 44 telephone calls to Casey between April 10 and 12, the day she disappeared.
Larson posted a $5,000 bond and pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge. The charge was dismissed June 9 after Larson's attorney argued that Larson hadn't been notified of the restraining order.
Casey worked for 10 years at Glendive Medical Center in the medical-records department. Co-workers described her as an outgoing and cheerful person with exceptional customer service skills.
