Hola~ I had to post this here, some of you have read on the "other site" that I have this thing called Frozen Shoulder, cannot move my left arm or shoulder, tis stuck. Horribly painful, it aches like a toothache in my shoulder. MRI showed a bone spur, saw the Orthopedic surgeon yesterday. On monday he is going to knock me out, numb my arm up w.injection and "manipulate" my shoulder by forcing it to move, therby un freezing it. I'm scared to go under aneshtesia again, but it should only be for about 3 minutes. It's quick, It's painful, but he said the real hell will begin the next day, at therapy, two weeks straight every day, I will have to go. Hard for me to commit to that. I'm in so much pain, I do lay on bags of frozen corn, or beans, i'm taking heavy doses of good drugs for it too; but still I wake up on my shoulder, or the pain wakes me up. I hope none of you ever get a frozen shoulder!
They dont know why it happens, can be from the hit and run, could be from the RA.OA or could just be from being too inactive since the accident. Thanks for lisening to me whine and moan. Sometimes being online helps keep my mind off the constant pain of this stupid condition. Medically I've been the most unlucky person I know. Too many weird procedures, in my lifetime from a bowel obstruction to going under the knife for various reasons. Now this!!
Well I just have to make it until Monday and get through this, he said the therapy is the hardest part...and painful too. :puke: I hope going under doesnt make me spew. I'll let you all know how I do, and if I get testy at all between now and then just ignore me K??

Thank you Ross, time for CT to suck it up! I'm going to bite the bullet! I'll post again next week how it goes.
I am tough but medical procedures tend to turn me into someone I dont recognise. I'm chicken like that. I hate needles, I hate hospitals and I hate getting poked or proded. I think the more you know about medical procedures, the more you come to dread them. Which is why I probably did put it off for too long, I knew something was very wrong but I just didnt want another "procedure" done on my body!!

Oh, this sounds awful!! Take every drug they give you, and freeze up a bunch of dinner's so you don't have to cook.
How long will they keep you?

Certaintly does sound awful. I really hope you can feel better.
I know what you mean about not being well. In my family (not just me) it does seem like there is always "something"...it isn't fun.

I had a frozen shoulder. I had the injection to the shoulder area, then the orthopod referred me to a physical therapist. I had physical therapy for several weeks. I can't remember if I had to have a second injection. But I think so.
Eventually, I recovered full movement of my arm. It took approximately one year . . . YES, one year, :thud2: but now I am fine.
After I completed all my physical therapy, I then went to a massage therapist who continued to keep my shoulder limber. I did that for about 8 more weeks.
Good luck. If you have any questions, please, feel free to ask.

Sorry to hear that CatToy I had to have a fatty tumor removed from my shoulder it was pretty big so I had my arm in a sling for a while and my shoulder froze up, I had to go to PT for quite sometime and then I had to use a pully 3 times a day to try to make my arm stretch up, it took a long time but I finally got it back to normal. The Doc told me it might grow back and sure enough it is growing back. I had it done about 12 or 13 years ago I am not going to be in a hurry to have it done again. Its a lot of work but you can do it if you are faithful and do the exercises. Good luck.:1222423: gramv

Hey Cat..
I've had the frozen shoulder syndrome...ended up in about 3 months of physical therapy, shoulder "manipulation"....little by little it broke through..the treatment was so painful..all I can say is be glad it's being done under local anesthesia....bone spurs develop because of the inflamation...oftentimes they are just left in, unless they are rubbing up on soft tissue, which they can tear. They can scrape those out arthroscopically...
Good luck..I "feel" for you.:(

Hi Cat - I had a frozen shoulder twice. The injections did nothing to help so I finally went to the Ortho guy. He put me under and broke the adhesion. I had to go to therapy for quite a while and that's where it hurts. He gave me pain medicine and I took it right before I went for my therapy but then would throw up while there. It took me awhile to figure out my stomach couldn't take that codeine.
As others have said it takes work and religious exercise to heal. You're going to hear the words "range of motion" alot. It will be a :0012: day when you can actually unhook your own bra strap again.
Good luck.

:girl_haha:One exercise they make me do this with my arm behind my back, fgs. Thank god for gymnastic background....But seriously. Of course everyone else I've met turns away when I tell them wait my nerve block didnt TAKE i didnt GET NUMB, wait WHY ME? I dont know; except for me what can happen usually does happen. Tis my bad luck.
Hey y'all Thanks so much for the well wishes. It's been really bad. The nerve block did not take. I'm still crying, the pulley system exercise makes the tears really flow. It's not frozen back up yet, but it stil is stiff and I had the sling for a bit, going to PT and also hiding under the covers from the pain, the meds, and the season.
Today I feel like this::71526: I just want to hide
