When was the last time you stopped and looked at a missing persons flyer?

Anna Robinson admits that until this week, she never gave the banners much thought. "Now that I have a loved one missing I pay more attention to the flyers because I know how it is because my loved one's out there and I don't know where he is."

But everything changed last Friday after Anna's husband 71 year-old James Richmond took a weekly bus ride to Mississippi for some fun.

No one thought much about it because Richmond always came back, and was waiting outside for his ride at the Five Points West Arby's.

On April 18th after getting off the bus employee's of the restaurant say they remember Richmond stopping in. It was about 8:30 at night. He didn't stay long. And that's when police say he disappeared.

The family says they arrived within 30 minutes of the bus arriving. But there was no sign of Richmond. And he couldn't have gotten far on his own because he walks with a cane.

And then there's the medical history to consider. Tori Richmond says her father is in poor health. "Over the last couple of years he's had about five strokes, the last one was a massive stroke. He actually had to be put on life support. He's diabetic and he hasn't had any medication since Friday morning."

Since that day the family has pulled together and prayed. They've also distributed more than a thousand flyers around Five Points West.

Now they are just asking you take a look and remember Richmond's face. "If you see him, please don't think that he's homeless. He has a family, my family, we're looking for him we're waiting on him to come home. I know he's okay!"

James Richmond was last seen wearing a black Army jacket, a veterans cap and blue jeans. If you have information please call the Birmingham Police Department.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A body found floating in a creek in May has been identified as a 71-year-old Birmingham man.

Jefferson County Sheriff's spokesman Randy Christian said Wednesday the cause of death for James Richmond Jr. has not been determined because of the condition of the body.

A missing person's report on Richmond had been filed with the Birmingham Police Department in April. The report said Richmond got on a bus heading to a casino. The bus driver told Richmond's granddaughter that the elderly man was last seen entering a nearby fast-food restaurant.

Officials said Richmond had suffered five strokes and sometimes become disoriented.

This is very sad.......I have had this in my unidentified file since May, but the description given in the first report certainly would not have lead me to believe the body was this man. HERE IS WHAT THEY ORIGINALLY PRINTED when the body was found>>>

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office today is working to identify a man whose body was pulled from Valley Creek Sunday.

Chief Deputy Coroner Pat Curry said he did not know how long it would take to identify the man.

The body has been fingerprinted, but authorities do not know of any missing persons who match the man's description, Curry said.

The body appears to be that of a white male, about 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 140-150 pounds and with long brown hair, according to the sheriff's office. Curry said the man appears to be at least 45 years old.He was found floating near the 700 block of Toadvine Road in western Jefferson County after a resident reported seeing a body floating down the creek

The body appeared to have been in the water for quite some time.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has been unable to identify a man whose body was pulled from Valley Creek on Sunday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office initially described the man as being about 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 140-150 pounds and with long brown hair. Chief Deputy Coroner Pat Curry said today that description is incorrect.

The man is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs more than 200 pounds, Curry said. Because the body had been in the water for at least three weeks they cannot tell what race the man is or his hair color, Curry said.

The man appeared to have had surgery in the pelvic area, but no other identifying marks, Curry said. The cause of death is still unknown.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 325-1450.
