This is a strange one.

I was hoping there had just been a mix up with family members and family had them, but as the day goes on I don't think so.

Cincinnati Police are searching for 2 children who are missing from the same Fay Apartment address in North Fairmount, where a mother of 4 was shot to death last night.

As of 6pm on Saturday, Police can't say whether it's a coincidence or if there is a direct connection between the shooting death of 25-year old Jackie Denise Evans, and 2 neighbor children that police reported critically missing Saturday, from the same apartment building.

What we do know is that Jackie Evans was found shot at her unit in the Fay Apartments just before 9 O'clock Friday night. The mother of 4 was rushed to University Hospital, where she later died.

As police were investigating that homicide, they discovered 2 children living in the same vicinity were missing. They're identified as 9-year old Damerco Jones and 4-year old Armisha Williams.

They are not related to Jackie Evans, according to police and to friends.

However, Cincinnati detectives do indicate they suspect that the missing youngsters have some connetion to the homicide.

Police Detective Howard Grant tells 9News, "At this time, that is still under investigation. What we do know is that at 2535 Williamsburg Drive, a homicide occurred. It's a coincidence at 2535 Williamsburg, there are some children who live in the same townhouse, and they're no longer anywhere to be found. Our understanding is that they were witnesses to the crime."

A friend of Jackie Evans, Pamela Williams, who went to college with her, says Evans has 4 children of her own who are now safe and staying with their father. She confirms that the 9-year old and 4-year old are not Evan's children.

Williams tells 9News, that Evans was anxious to move out of her Fay Apartment unit because of the treatment she was getting from neighbors. Williams says, "She was really having a difficult time where she lived in the Fay Apartments. She was being taunted by neighbors, who were calling her names. She was being so taunted and harassed, she changed the schedule that she took her children to the park. She decided to make the park trips in the evening, when the playground was pretty empty."

Williams says Evans had just gotten her Associates Degree and was looking forward to improve life for herself and her children.

Cincinnati Police say they've found it hard to find witnesses, neighbors or family to come forward to tell them more about who shot Jackie Evans or tell them where to find the 2 children: Demerco Jones or Armisha Williams.

Detectives tell 9News they don't even know where the youngsters parents might be, let alone, know whether the 2 youngsters are safe. Police say they didn't issue an "Amber Alert" for the youngsters since they have no information about whether a car was used to take the children away, and they don't have any indication of whether the childrens' lives are actually in danger.

If you know anything about the 2 missing children or the shooting death of Jackie Denise Evans at Fay Apartments Friday night, please call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040. You don't have to give your name and your tip could earn you a reward

They just said on local news they are safe. That is all they are saying. Maybe someone had them hidden because they witnessed the crime and now the LE has them.

Poor little things to have to see something like that. :1222423:

'Critical missing' kids safe
NORTH FAIRMOUNT - Police on Monday canceled the critical missing alert for two children who possibly witnessed a fatal shooting Friday of a 25-year-old mother of four.

Witnesses told the police that a woman who is not the mother of Armisha Williams, 4, nor Damerco Jones, 9, raced off with the children after the shooting. The children are safe, police said Monday.

“We erred on the side of safety,” said police spokesman Lt. Mark Briede.

Jackie Denise Evans was shot in the chest late Friday while walking home with her four children outside the Fay Apartments complex, police said. Evans' children - believed to be 6, 4, 3 and 8 months - are staying with their maternal grandmother.

Police were revealing little new information today other than to say Evans was shot by a woman.

No one has been taken into custody. Police said this weekend that many residents in the apartment complex were not cooperating with investigators.

“All homicides are senseless, but for your own kids to witness it, it’s just terrible. What is that going to do to these children?” said Briede.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.

Police Believe Children Who Witnessed Murder Okay

Last Update: 6:17 pm
Police have not yet located two children missing from a murder scene since Friday night, but now believe they are not in danger. Cincinnati Police listed 4-year-old Armisha Williams and 9-year-old Damerco Jones as critical missing after the shooting death of their neighbor, Jackie Evans.

Local 12's Joe Webb has been following the story and shares the latest new information:

There is good news and bad news at Fay Apartments. The good news, police believe those two missing children are not in danger. The bad news...they still haven't identified a suspect in Jackie Evans' murder.

It was quiet this morning at Fay Apartments as police continued a homicide and missing children investigation. Uniformed officers from District Three and detectives from Personal Crimes went in the apartment where the two missing children live. Four year old Armisha Williams and 9 year old Damerco Jones are well-known and well-liked at Fay Apartments.

Crystal Brandon, Fay Apartments Resident: "They always played with my children. They played great with them. Got along with them. They are wonderful children. They got along with all the other kids up here. And it really hurts that they're missing."

Damerco Jones was not in class today at nearby Roll Hill Elementary. Police say they have actually not seen the children, but no longer list them as critical missing.

Lt. Mark Briede, Cincinnati Police: "Evidence in the investigation has led us to believe they've either been with the mother or family members since this occurred. They have not been in any danger nor are they now in danger."

There are lots of unanswered questions. Why were the children taken away? And most importantly, who killed Jackie Evans ? Maureen Billings also wants to know why.

Maureen Billings, Fay Apartments Resident: "She didn't bother anyone. Every time you'd see her, she was taking her kids to the park. Go out of the Fay, stop at the store, get her kids something, and then go to the park and back in."

Evans' four children are with family. Police are now hoping to catch up with the two children gone from Fay Apartments since Friday.

"They possibly could be witnesses. We're not sure. Obviously, we'd like to talk to them still."

Police say they've had little cooperation from potential witnesses at Fay Apartments. They believe the shooter was another woman and it all started with an argument...possibly between others...that eventually dragged the two women into it.

If anyone has information about Jackie Evans killing, they're asking them to call CrimeStoppers at 352-3040.
