Terry D. Neff
The Pickaway County Sheriff's department is looking for witnesses in the case of a Circleville man missing since Thursday.
Terry D. Neff, 54, of Circleville, son of former county commissioner Ruth Neff, was last seen Thursday morning when he left for work at his job as a heating and cooling supervisor with a Columbus company, according to Det. Rex Emrick of the Sheriff's department.
"About 11 a.m. Thursday, he talked to his wife by cell phone," Emrick said. "That's the last time anyone had contact."
Neff failed to return home Thursday night and did not show up for work the next day, Emrick said, leading his wife to file a missing person report with the Sheriff on Friday morning.
By Friday afternoon, the department had located Neff's pickup truck in northern Pickaway County, but Neff was nowhere to be found.
"At this point, we're calling it suspicious circumstances," Emrick said. "It is out of character for this man not to come home."
The Sheriff's department launched a search of the wooded area where the pickup was found using a helicopter, horses and nearly a dozen canines throughout the weekend, Emrick said, but Neff remains missing.
Neff is 5-foot-9, 170 pounds, wears glasses or contacts and was last seen wearing a blue-and-white shirt, khaki pants and brown dress shoes.
Anyone with tips on the pickup truck or knowledge or information of Neff's whereabouts are requested to contact the Pickaway County Sheriff's office at 474-2176 or 1-800-345-2176.

Pickaway Solid Citizen Missing For Days
Sunday, Apr 27, 2008 - 08:56 PM Updated: 06:52 AM
By Laurie Omness
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- A solid citizen, a hard working tri-athlete has not been seen in Pickaway County since he left for work last Thursday.
The sheriff’s office is looking for public assistance in finding the apparently missing Terry Neff, 54, of rural Circleville, NBC 4 reported.
According to Sheriff Dwight Radcliff, Neff left for his work as a heating and cooling contractor Thursday morning but did not appear at the various job sites where he was expected. He was seen last at 11 a.m. Thursday. His family reported him missing Friday morning.
Neff’s 2007 tan Toyota Tundra was found abandoned in a field off a roadway Friday. Over the weekend, an extensive search involving canine units, helicopters and volunteers on both foot and horseback scoured the area where the truck was found but turned up nothing to indicate Neff’s location.
Lt. Dale Parish told NBC 4 that it’s extremely out of character for Neff to disappear without a word.
“He’s a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Board and a zoning inspector, very reliable,” Parish said.
He described Neff as physically fit, a trained tri-athlete who participates in local events.
Anyone who may have seen Neff is urged to call the Pickaway County Sheriff at 740-474-2176 or 800-345-2176.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The body of a man reported missing in Pickaway County on April 24 was found yesterday in a rural area.
It appears that Terry D. Neff, 54, took his own life, Sheriff Dwight Radcliff said.
Neff was a supervisor for a Columbus-area heating and cooling contractor and had been traveling between job sites the last time he was seen. His family owns and operates a farm along the Big Darby Creek in Pickaway County.
Authorities made an extensive search after Neff was reported missing, and his truck was found off the roadway beside woods in northwestern Pickaway County.
Yesterday, friends, family and authorities searched an expanded area and found the body not far from the creek bank about 4 miles southwest of where the truck had been found.
