Amber Alert issued for baby taken by parents

Police would like to know if anyone sees Lucas Whalen, Michael Whalen, or Danielle Boyle.

Authorities have issued an Amber Alert, seeking a baby who was taken by his parents even though they had lost custody of him.

Michael Whalen, 42, and Danielle Boyle, 24, were supposed to turn 6-month-old Lucas Whalen over to a temporary custodian yesterday but failed to do so, said Sergeant Robert Bousquet, a State Police spokesman. Arlington police are looking for the trio.

Because of statements and threats made by Michael Whalen, there�s reason to believe that Lucas is in danger, police said.

Michael Whalen is a white male, 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, with dirty blonde hair and tattoos. Danielle Boyle is a white female, 5-foot-4, 135 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Lucas weighs 25 to 30 pounds and has hazel eyes, police said.

The couple are believed to be driving a dark gray 2007 Ford 500 with Massachusetts license number 49RF83, Bousquet said.

Amber Alert: Missing infant


Arlington, MA (WBZ Newsroom) -- A six-month-old baby boy is missing.

Massachusetts State Police believe infant, Lucas Whalen, may be with his parents, Michael Whalen and Danielle Boyle, of Arlington, who’ve lost custody of their child.

Michael Whalen, as pictured here, is described as 42 years old, 5’9”, 180 pounds with dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and tattoos.

Danielle Boyle, also pictured, is a white female, 24 years old, 5’4”, 135 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Lucas Whalen is an infant, just six months old with hazel eyes and very little hair.

Whalen and Boyle are believed to be traveling together in a vehicle, shown here, described as a dark gray 2007 Ford 500, with a Massachusetts license plate No. 49RF83.

Arlington police search for man in connection with child’s abduction

ARLINGTON, Mass. (State Police Office of Media Relations) Today, the Arlington Police Department is seeking Michael Whalen and Danielle Boyle who, after losing parental custody, took their 6-month-old son Lucas Whalen. Yesterday, the couple failed to release Lucas to a temporary custodian and as a result of statements and threats made by Michael Whalen there is reason to believe Lucas Whalen is in danger and his safety is at risk.

Michael Whalen is described as a white male, 42 years of age, 5'9", 180 pounds with dirty blonde hair, blue eyes and tattoos.

Danielle Boyle is described as a white female, 24 years of age, 5'4", 135 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Lucas Whalen is a white male infant, 6 months old, with hazel eyes, with very little hair.

Whalen and Boyle are believed to be traveling together in a dark gray 2007 Ford 500, bearing Massachusetts Registration 49RF83. The vehicle is a rental.

Amber alert cancelled

Arlington, Mass. - According to reports, Lucas Whalen, a 6-month-old Arlington resident, has been turned over to police, cancelling an Amber Alert first issued this afternoon.

This afternoon, Arlington Police Department reported they were seeking Michael Whalen and Danielle Boyle who, after losing parental custody, took their 6-month-old son Lucas Whalen. Tuesday, the couple failed to release Lucas to a temporary custodian and as a result of statements and threats made by Michael Whalen, police believed the child was at risk.

It is not clear what, if any, charges will be filed

BOSTON -- There are new details on a child that was involved in last week's Amber Alert in Arlington.

Six-month-old Lucas Whalen's great aunt, Sheila Boyle, handed him over to the Department of Social Services on Tuesday.

Boyle had temporary custody of the baby after an Amber Alert was issued for the child last Wednesday.

Michael Whalen and Danielle Boyle, the child's parents, failed to turn over their son, Lucas, to another family member. Police say that the couple lost custody of their child due to a history of neglect. Police believed that the child was in danger.

The baby was found unharmed with his mother, Danielle Boyle, after a cabbie took her to Arlington police station Thursday because she didn't have money for the fare.

Michael Whalen was ordered held on $25,000 bail after allegedly kidnapping the boy and triggering the state's first Amber Alert this year.

Boyle said that the courts told her that putting the child in state custody is for the baby's best interest.
