A 59-year-old man was reporting missing Tuesday in Boaz, according to a news release from Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis.

James Douglas Shirley, Mountain View Church Road, Altoona, was last seen about 3:30 p.m.

Shirley takes medication and can become disoriented easily, Davis said.

He was last seen wearing brown boots, blue jeans, green shirt, a cap and a brown leather jacket.

He was in Boaz, shopping at Little Lots with his wife, and left the area walking.

Anyone with information about Shirley is asked to call the Boaz Police Department, 593-6812.

BOAZ - Authorities are seeking the whereabouts of an Altoona man who went missing Tuesday while shopping with his wife.

Police Chief Terry Davis said the two were in Little Lots store when James Douglas Shirley, 59, walked out about 3:30 p.m.

Davis said Shirley takes medication and can become disoriented. He was last seen wearing a cap, blue jeans, a green shirt, a brown jacket and brown boots.

Anyone with any information about Shirley's whereabouts is urged to call the Boaz Police Department at 256-593-6812.

He went missing on Tuesday. On foot. Strange someone hasn't seen him by now.

I think someone in his position should wear some type of bracelet that can be tracked if they go missing. If everyone in his position would wear them there would be less missing persons. IMO.

I sure hope he is found safe.

Authorities continue their search for a missing Boaz man.

59 year old James Douglas Shirley was last seen around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, wearing brown boots, blue jeans, a green shirt, a cap and a brown leather jacket.

He was shopping with his wife at the Little Lots store in Boaz, and left the area on foot.

Authorities were informed that Shirley takes medication and at times can easily become disoriented.

Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to contact the Boaz Police Department at (256) 593-6812.

I think someone in his position should wear some type of bracelet that can be tracked if they go missing. If everyone in his position would wear them there would be less missing persons. IMO.

I spoke with Captain Kilgo at the Boaz Police Department this morning. Mr. Shirley has been found safe, but he has no other details.

Probably not. I've been checking the news everyday, and, as usual, they don't do updates unless the poor people are found deceased.
