Since they are not saying there was a break in or anything, maybe he left on his own and will be found safe. I hope so.

I find it hard to believe he left on his own. Kids are scared of the dark. I hope they find him safe.

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. -- Deputies launched a widespread search Wednesday for a missing 7-year-old Paulding County boy.

Amani Kintrail Cousin was last seen sleeping at his home about 2:40 early Wednesday morning. When a family member went to wake him for school Amani was missing. Police said they were contacted around 8 a.m.

He's about four feet tall and weighs approximately 80 pounds. He has a scar in the middle of his forehead.

Teams of searchers on all-terrain vehicles combed wooded areas near Amani's home.

"We've contacted friends, we've contacted the school; the bus barn to check the bus he normally rides," said Cpl. Brandon Gurley of the Paulding County Sheriff's Office told WSB-TV Channel 2 reporter Ross Cavitt. "We've looked in every area we could possibly think of to find if this child is with someone. So far we've hit deadends on everything we've checked."

Paulding officials contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine if a Levi's Call should be issued for the missing boy. A Levi's Call is only issued if there's "a confirmed child abduction and the child is in imminent danger of harm or death," according to the GBI Web site.

I have to ask...who, besides the parents, last saw this child and when?

The search has ended for the 7-year-old Paulding County boy reported missing from his home this morning. Volunteers found Amani Cousin apparently unharmed, around 2:20 p.m., authorities said.

Amani was found close to his home in the Proctor Place subdivision off Proctor Road, southwest of Dallas.

Amani's father called 911 shortly after 8 a.m. to report his son missing, Paulding sheriff's Cpl. Brandon Gurley said.

Gurley said Amani was last seen about 2:40 a.m. at his father's residence.

Amani's mother had been notified and was assisting in the search, Gurley said.

An Amber Alert was issued and search teams including the Paulding County Sheriff's Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Cobb County SWAT and mounted police, Georgia State Patrol aviation unit, and civilian volunteers looked for him in the wooded areas surrounding the neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

The boy was examined by emergency technicians, but found to be uninjured. Family members took him to WellStar Paulding Hospital for a check-up.

Gurley said the cause of Amani's disappearance was still under investigation.
