Baltimore County Police are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 83-year-old man who apparently walked away from an assisted living home in Arbutus.

James Earl Vanhoy, a resident of the home in the 5100 block of Shelbourne Road, has been missing since 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, police said today. He suffers from bipolar disorder, dementia and other ailments and is on several medications, police said.

He was originally from Bel Air, but has no immediate family in the area, authorities said.

Vanhoy is described as a white male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 140 pounds, and balding. He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket. He also has an unknown type tattoo on his upper right arm, police said.

Anyone with information about Vanhoy is asked to call county police at 410-307-2020.

Man missing who left assisted living facility

Baltimore County police were asking the public's help in locating an 83-year-old man who has been missing since May 20 from an assisted living home in the 5100 block of Shelbourne Road in Arbutus.

Police say James Earl Vanhoy apparently walked away unnoticed at 11:40 a.m. May 20.

Vanhoy left the home on at least one other occasion. That time, he was found in Bel Air, where he lived previously.

He has no immediate family in the state.

Vanhoy suffers from bipolar disorder, dementia and other ailments and should be taking several medications.

Police said they do not know whether he has any of the medications with him.

He is described as a white male, 5-foot-7, 140 pounds and balding.

He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket.

He also has a tattoo on his upper right arm.

Anyone with information about his disappearance is asked to call Baltimore County police at 410-307-2020.

Hope hes found soon. Is it me or are we seeing a few too many older people leaving these facilities?

Perhaps they feel like getting out walking now that the weather has warmed up. So many elderly are missing.

Becuae there were no updates I contacted police who stated he was located June 4th at a hotel alive and well.
