Doj, Congrats on cast removal today!! :) Thanks for the link. I think all states are basically the same with the criminal codes so this will give a general idea for other states also.

Here's hoping we won't have to hear tapes we can't decipher too. The last interview was interesting and I could make out what was being said. But many others was garbled. So glad the jury had transcripts.

Wow, congratulations on your vacation. It used to be a vacation for me when DH was an on-the-road salesman and I had two or three days to myself every week. Only problem was if something broke in the house (which was prone to happen when he was gone--Murphy's Law and all that). ENJOY!!

I have AAA and I'm a better mechanic than DH anyway :girl_haha: I'm pretty good at being by myself - unless there's a roach around. Snakes, spiders, rats, lizards, burglers, plumbing problems don't bother me, but just let a roach cross my path....:faintTHUD:

Hi Gram

Yes, it's going to be beautiful here, too, according to the "weather guessers." Our temps have been revised: 75-80 degrees. It is looking gloomy today, so I don't know if we are going to get some rain. My body is not aching, so that's a pretty good sign it will stay dry. :girl_haha:

DH came to us when the boys were 4&5, so I had to do a lot on my own early. My BEST triumph was changing the clutch in my '72 VW bus. Teh mechanci quoted some ungodly sum and I couldn't afford it, so I just used an old aircraft mechanic trick (I worked on planes at the time), spliced the new clutch to the old one, threaded it through, and spliced it to the clutch plate. voila' new clutch for less than $20

Thought you would all enjoy alittle humor this morning:

Note Found on the Refrigerator One Morning:
My Dear Honey,
You will surely understand that I have certain needs that you, being 54 years old, can no longer satisfy. I am very happy with you and I value you as a good wife. Therefore, after reading this letter, I hope that you will not wrongly interpret the fact that I will be spending the evening with my 18 year old secretary at the Comfort Inn Hotel. Please don't be upset I shall be home before midnight.' When the man came home late that night, he found the following letter on the dining room table:

My Dear Husband,
I received your letter and thank you for your honesty about my being 54 years old. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that you are also 54 years old. As you know, I am a math teacher at our local college. I would like to inform you that while you read this, I will be at the Hotel Fiesta with Michael, one of my students, who is also the assistant tennis coach. He is young, virile, and like your secretary, is 18 years old.
As a successful businessman who has an excellent knowledge of math, you will understand that we are in the same situation, although with one small difference - 18 goes into 54 a lot more times than 54 goes into 18. Therefore, I will not be home until sometime tomorrow.

Oh yes, I've had my "main" tape (and it is a TAPE, that's how long ago I made it!)...It's not one CD, just my fave songs. Here's how it starts:

Makin' Some Noise (Tom Petty), Gone At Last (Paul Simon & Phoebe Snow), Mama Couldn't Be Persuaded (Warren Zevon)...Basketball Jones (Cheech & Chong), a bunch of James Taylor songs, a bunch of Stevie Ray Vaughn songs...I Wanna Be Sedated (The Ramones)----Real Wild Child (Iggy Pop), There's A Party At My House (Randy Newman), Redneck Friend (Jackson Browne), a whole lotta Janis Joplin...and many, many Kinks songs (my favorite band of all time)...ending with The Toys' Smoke Two Joints.

Oh, and I love Van Morrison. He used to eat breakfast at a restaurant down the street from where I was living in San Francisco. My girlfriends and I used to sit near him trying to act cool...

We had Joy
We had fun
We had seasons in the sun...

Hey, Cat and I remember it!

Terry Jacks

Seasons In The Sun Lyrics

Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.
Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me,
I was the black sheep of the family.
You tried to teach me right from wrong.
Too much wine and too much song,
wonder how I get along.
Goodbye, Papa, it's hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Little children everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, all have gone.
Goodbye, Michelle, my little one.
You gave me love and helped me find the sun.
And every time that I was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on the ground.
Goodbye, Michelle, it's hard to die
when all the bird are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
With the flowers ev'rywhere.
I whish that we could both be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the stars we could reach
were just starfishs on the beach

I saw that about the fire. Terrible. We had two days with drizzle, but not even enough moisture to not have to water the plants. I worked last night and got off around midnight. It was hot and HUMID so you'd think that moisture would help, but it doesn't.

I saw that about the fire. Terrible. We had two days with drizzle, but not even enough moisture to not have to water the plants. I worked last night and got off around midnight. It was hot and HUMID so you'd think that moisture would help, but it doesn't.

Oh man, it looked like you got a real downpour.

:girl_sad:

Wish I could send you some water. Many of the campgrounds usually available for camping around all the lakes are UNDER WATER themselves so camping is limited this first weekend of summer---

It's always something! << was that Rosanne Rosanna Danna? <<

I'm sad to hear about the fire (and the fires in FL) and that you haven't gotten any significant rain. What are FL and GA going to do about water? OMG, the governors should be working on some sort of plan.

Texted son #2 last night - we bought him a new cell phone and he was supposed to call to get it activated. Did he call? Nope. *sigh*. He lives in Seattle. Does he EVER call when we are awake? Nope - it doesn't dawn on him that we're 3 hours ahead. He doesn't sleep - he really is alot like his aunt - who also didn't like to sleep at night in case she missed something.

See? you miss your kids, but count your blessings - at least you don't have a kid like mine!

Honey

See the tree, how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twig
Then the first snow came
And she ran out to brush the snow away
So it wouldn't die
Came runnin' in all excited
Slipped and almost hurt herself
And I laughed till I cried
She was always young at heart
Kinda dumb and kinda smart and I loved her so
And I surprised her with a puppy
Kept me up all Christmas Eve two years ago
And it would sure embarrass her
When I came in from workin' late
'Cause I would know
That she'd been sittin' there and cryin'
Over some sad and silly late, late show

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

She wrecked the car and she was sad
And so afraid that I'd be mad
But what the heck
Though I pretended hard to be
Guess you could say she saw through me
And hugged my neck
I came home unexpectedly
And caught her cryin' needlessly
In the middle of the day
And it was in the early Spring
When flowers bloom and robins sing
She went away

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

One day while I was not at home
While she was there and all alone
The angels came
Now all I have is memories of Honey
And I wake up nights and call her name
Now my life's an empty stage
Where Honey lived and Honey played
And love grew up
And a small cloud passes overhead
And cries down on the flower bed
That Honey loved

And see the tree how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big

Hi everyone!
LOL @ guilt-trip songs!
I love 'em.

The one that I use on my daughter -- and she uses on me -- is the one from that mouse movie? You know:

Somewhere out there beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight

Somewhere out there someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star

And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there if love can see us through
Then we'll be together somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

It's the perfect all purpose guilt song for anyone, for any occasion!

How are you, all?
And KINDEE, how are YOU, especially?

PATCHES

I was born and raised down in Alabama
On a farm way back up in the woods
I was so ragged that folks used to call me Patches
Papa used to tease me about it
'Cause deep down inside he was hurt
'Cause he'd done all he could

My papa was a great old man
I can see him with a shovel in his hands, see
Education he never had
He did wonders when the times got bad
The little money from the crops he raised
Barely paid the bills we made

For, life had kick him down to the ground
When he tried to get up
Life would kick him back down
One day Papa called me to his dyin' bed
Put his hands on my shoulders
And in his tears he said

He said, Patches
I'm dependin' on you, son
To pull the family through
My son, it's all left up to you

Two days later Papa passed away, and
I became a man that day
So I told Mama I was gonna quit school, but
She said that was Daddy's strictest rule

So ev'ry mornin' 'fore I went to school
I fed the chickens and I chopped wood too
Sometimes I felt that I couldn't go on
I wanted to leave, just run away from home
But I would remember what my daddy said
With tears in his eyes on his dyin' bed

He said, Patches
I'm dependin' on you, son
I tried to do my best
It's up to you to do the rest

Then one day a strong rain came
And washed all the crops away
And at the age of 13 I thought
I was carryin' the weight of the
Whole world on my shoulders
And you know, Mama knew
What I was goin' through, 'cause

Ev'ry day I had to work the fields
'Cause that's the only way we got our meals
You see, I was the oldest of the family
And ev'rybody else depended on me
Ev'ry night I heard my Mama pray
Lord, give him the strength to face another day

So years have passed and all the kids are grown
The angels took Mama to a brand new home
Lord knows, people, I shedded tears
But my daddy's voice kept me through the years

Sing
Patches, I'm dependin' on you, son
To pull the family through
My son, it's all left up to you

Oh, I can still hear Papa's voice sayin'
Patches, I'm dependin' on you, son
I've tried to do my best
It's up to you to do the rest

I can still hear Papa, what he said
Patches...

YES, the MRI was horrific! AND, I chose NPR on my headphones (thinking I'd hear Car Talk, or All Things Considered, or something talkish) and got FUNERAL MUSIC, I swear it! My mom called me a big baby---but man, if you are claustrophobic even a little bit it's really freaky!

Home Before Dark Words and Music by Judy Collins, David Buskin,

I packed up my bags
Put in my favorite Levis
Laid my mandolin beside the door
Said to momma

I won't be long
Don't worry about me
I'll be home before dark

Bought a ticket to New York City
One way out and no return
I watched the sun go down
Across the plains from Denver
Lord, how the western sky can burn

Met a boy in the darkness
Handsome, tall and heartless
I loved him like an eagle loves the wind
Till I heard him say

I won't be long
Don't worry about me
I'll be home before dark

I'll be alright
And you'll be fine without me
I'll be home before dark

My daughter looks like him they say
To me she looks like momma
I see an eagle's shadow in her eyes

Last night at her birthday
We blew the candles out together
I wonder will she take me by surprise
When she says

momma
I won't be long
Don't worry about me
I'll be home before dark

I'll be alright
And you'll be fine without me
I'll be home before dark
I'll be home before dark

Home Before Dark Words and Music by Judy Collins, David Buskin,

I packed up my bags
Put in my favorite Levis
Laid my mandolin beside the door
Said to momma

I won't be long
Don't worry about me
I'll be home before dark

Bought a ticket to New York City
One way out and no return
I watched the sun go down
Across the plains from Denver
Lord, how the western sky can burn

Met a boy in the darkness
Handsome, tall and heartless
I loved him like an eagle loves the wind
Till I heard him say

I won't be long
Don't worry about me
I'll be home before dark

I'll be alright
And you'll be fine without me
I'll be home before dark

My daughter looks like him they say
To me she looks like momma
I see an eagle's shadow in her eyes

Last night at her birthday
We blew the candles out together
I wonder will she take me by surprise
When she says

momma
I won't be long
Don't worry about me
I'll be home before dark

I'll be alright
And you'll be fine without me
I'll be home before dark
I'll be home before dark

YES, the MRI was horrific! AND, I chose NPR on my headphones (thinking I'd hear Car Talk, or All Things Considered, or something talkish) and got FUNERAL MUSIC, I swear it! My mom called me a big baby---but man, if you are claustrophobic even a little bit it's really freaky!

Otherwise, I think my knee is going to be OK but I won't have the results until sometime next week due to the holiday.

But I think I'll be doing :basic44: with a brace on and probably not very often.

:girl_haha:

Oh kindee. Yikes.
I just saw this post.
Egad, when/if I'll need an MRI I am not going to do well.
My husband doesn't think I'm a baby about claustrophic things like MRIs
because he's worse than I am.
Our doctor thinks we're both :a1chic: about having MRI's or (me) getting a cortisone shot for my back pain. He says (smiling. actually sort of a naughty grin): "you've been through much worse."
:thud2:
I said, yeah, probably, like childbirth without drugs, but I don't want to make a habit of having to endure pain. You know?

How long did the MRI take?

Bless you my fine friend! I wonder where I have to go for that?I'd ask your doctor......Lafayette has an open one that's where my mother in law goes, but my doctor is in Illinois and the hospital I go to has a closed one,but Kankakee has an open one-I'd go there or be put out to use the closed one...or they can get me way drunk LMAO

Check it out! We had this loooooong pre-MRI interview "have you ever been a litterbug..." just kidding, but barely... when, at the END of the interview, she asked, "What did you take today to relax for this exam?" and I went, "HUH!? It's going to be THAT bad?" Next time, I'll know better. I didn't even take any PAIN meds before I went. What kind of a putz am I?
