New Features & How To Use

The board has been upgraded. We have several new features. You can now customize your profile page. I have done mine so you can get an idea of what you can do with it. Everyone now can have their own photo albums. You can have 3 albums that hold 15 pix each. There is a new setup for contacts and friends. You can find everything in your usercp. If you have any questions let me know and I will try to answer them for you.

As a little added bonus, I have also added a few more smilies for you to choose from. I hope you enjoy the new features.

OK... a little more information on some of the new features..

When you go to someone's profile page and want to send them a message..

the box that you see is a visitor message that anyone can see when they visit the profile page. It's kind of like the comments you see on Myspace.

If you want to send a Private PM
look under the person's user name for the "send message" link and click that the drop-down will give you a choice between private message and visitor message.

Social Networks

You can create your own place with people of similar interests and get them to share those interests. It gives you a little place all your own where you can chat with friends. You can invite anyone to join you group, you can make it private or open to the public. It's kind of like a mini MySpace, Facebook, Blogger, Live Spaces, Livejournal and Yahoo! Groups.

I can't figure out how to change the background of my profile, of course I am a bit slow on the uptake :)

The background has to come from something you have uploaded in your albums. Once you upload what you want, click on the pix and it will give you codes like photobucket does... don't use the [img] code, those are for when you want to post the pix in a post... use the http:// code.

I'll try to do a screen shot later with instructions for everyone.

Pick your text from the drop down box... under text color, click on the box where you see my green color (it will be empty on your board) a color panel will open up.. choose your color... do the same steps for the rest of the boxes.. where it says background image... your image has to be uploaded in your albums in order to use.. after uploading your pix click on it and it will give you 2 codes... use the http://helpfindthemissig...... code. You can click on preview to see what it looks like.

Remember.. You will have to click on the save button at the bottom of the page in order to keep your customized profile when you are finished setting it the way you want it.

Continue editing all sections until you get it the way you want it to look..

You can play around with it.. and you can check your colors in the box at the bottom of the customizing page... each area is marked in the box to correspond with an edit box above. If you notice in the white area it says controls, look above this box and you will see the blue box that says controls.. that would be where you make the changes for that area.. same as the Footers, Primary Content, Secondary Content.. they all have their own edit boxes and you can check them as you go by hitting the preview buttons on them. If you like what you have in that box, hit save and move to the next one... remember at the very end, when you are all finished, click on save changes. You can change the look of your page as often as you like...

Nope, just getting the example key box, when I preview the first option the example key is on the bottom, when I preview the second option, it puts the example box between the two options.

The tags are something new also... when a new thread is started you will see a box at the bottom for tags.. if you start several different threads all on the same subject you can give them the same tag and it sort of links them together. When you open a thread that is tagged, it will show a box at the bottom of a page with the links to other threads that are tagged the same..

They used to pop up before the upgrade to the board. There is something in the program code that changed that. I know what the problem is.. It's going to take a bit to fix it.. so if everyone will just bare with me until I can get it taken care of..

The whole style is different, only the colors are the same. I found the reason why mine looks different. I use windows Vista, which by the way I hate. I just went out and checked it on my desktop which is XP and it looks like yours. So I will work on that problem now. I didn't want to go to bed again tonight anyway :67302:

On my profile it says showing 6 of 7 friends. When I click on show all friends, I only have 6 listed. There's no 7th anywhere. Any idea what that's about?

First thing you have to do is add an album, give it a name and then you can upload your pix to it. Have you done that so far and they are not loading?

Yes Harlett, I did that, I went to my photobucket account and used the url to upload pics. They aren't uploading....

I think the problem is you have to load them directly from your PC.. just save the ones you want that are in photobucket to your pc then upload them.. then you can go back and delete them from your pc. I tried the photobucket, but there is nowhere to put the link in, all you can do is browse your own pc. Hope this helps.

Yep, it worked fine that way. You can't take pics from a photobucket account, it must be downloaded straight from the computer.

I hate Vista also... I'm on my pc at work and everything looks just fine from here. You may want to try re-booting to see if that works for you. Other than that I really am at a loss as to why you can't see them. I know that doesn't help.

Okay, Harlett. I figured it out. Apparently I accidentally hit the link that says "Hide User Customizations" at the top of someone's profile page. That cuts off all customizations for every profile you view. :duh:

ok, i have a problem & question. everytime i come to this site for the last 3 to 4 days, no matter where i go on this site, there has been a little yellow thing on the bottom left side of my IE7 Browser saying - done, but with errors on page. when i click on it, it says -

it says a bunch of different ones. way too many for me to type in as i am a one finger typer & it takes me too long. its only on my Browser when i come to this site(forum).
it hasnt been loading right & sometimes it wont load. also the pop up box isnt popping up no more either to let me know i have a message. i have windows xp home.
when i click on the smilies to add them to what i type nothing happens. i cant use any of them. i have to type a smiley face in my message for it to work.
i have cleaned my Browser cookies,temp files,history & ran all my scans a few different times, thinking that would work but it still didnt fix the problems. i am not sure why this is happening. so i thought i would see if you all could help me. it seems to have something to do with vBulletin maybe. Is anyone else having this problem ? does this have something to do with the changes you made ?

The image has to be stored on your computer. You can't do it with a URL.

Which url are you using?... you have to use the http one and not the img..


the errors some of you are getting, Norton causes this for some unknown reason.. and I don't have a clue why. I had so many problems with Norton that I have switched to AVG, it's a much much better anti-virus program... and it's free.

You might try holding down the ctrl and hitting refresh at the same time. A lot of time IE will remember settings and this should clear them. If you are still having problems re-booting may help.

Try deleting the photo and then adding it again.. If it doesn't work then it has to be something in your settings. The function seems to be working for others that are using it. If it was a board problem it would be happening to everyone.

I will answer your question here TeeOne in case anyone else is having the same problem.

You can't download a pix from photobuckt in to you albums. They have to be saved on your pc to be able to load them in there.

Just right click on you pic in photo bucket, save to your pc, go to your albums, hit browse, click on the pix you have saved, click on upload.

Hi Harlett! I just noticed on the threads today they're wider than last night. This screen to reply is ok, so are the main pages where forums are listed, but the screen where the posts are is stretched. Nothing different on my computer from last night either & I'm using IE. :) ps ~ the NASCAR one seems ok, but not this one.

I had to do an upgrade, I don't do them until about 2am when not many on are on the board. When you do an upgrade it changes some settings. I didn't get finished changing all of them and went to bed about 6:30am.. Anyway, it should be back to normal size now... I'm still working on some of the other settings so you may see a few things that don't look the same as they did, until I get them changed.

Shotzie, you need a photobucket account, I use photobucket.

You will download your photos and it will give you codes for posting them. Depending on where your posting you pick up that url. They have direct links which is used for your avatar. Then they have the img one. That is what you use for posting within a thread.
