Good morning everyone. Are we ready to rock n roll????:zm10:

Morning SG. I am!! Sad no court in Labarre trial today. I don't feel a jury will be seated in one day with this one. If it is, I will be pleasantly surprised though!!

Next week the Keown trial (anti-freeze laced gatorade case) starts in same courthouse as NE's. :) I am keeping up with that one also. Have read a lot on it and wish we had a live feed with it too.

Morning Tig & Doj -

Tig - you'll have your hands full keeping up with two trials  I can barely keep up with one.

Doj - Rarely have I seen jury selection live in any trial. Not sure if they will do it live or not.

We just had a local trial and they didn't show the Jurors but they were streaming it. That actually was the first time I say them do that.

Really?? I would love to see jury selection; and you're right; they wouldn't have to show their faces. I'll be anxious to see was TTV says this morning. They are covering it; arent't they? I hope Beth is doing the coverage. :love0085:

and you can chat there and there's a blog, so maybe at least we can get some updates if we don't find a stream.

yes SG, I heard that TTV was covering this unless there is something really important that happens with OJ! LOL

The Jury selection that was streamed here was for an Alderman from our area that paid for votes and did some other things that Aldermen shouldn't do

Here is the timeline...

Jan. 16, 2006 -- Neil Entwistle visits the adult dating World Wide Web site "Adult Friend Finder."

Jan. 16 and 17 -- Entwistle views a Web site describing how to kill people. He also searches the internet on how to commit suicide, how to kill someone with a knife and euthanasia. Jan. 18 -- Entwistle searches the internet for "escort services,'' including "Blonde Beauties Escort SVC.'' based in Worcester.
Jan. 19 -- The last time anyone heard from Rachel Entwistle.

Jan. 20 -- Authorities say Neil Entwistle shot his wife, Rachel, and 9-month-old daughter, Lillian Rose, while they lay in bed in their 6 Cubs Path, Hopkinton home.

Jan. 21 -- Neil Entwistle buys a ticket at Logan Airport to fly to London. He flies out at 8:15 a.m. without baggage.

Jan. 21 -- Police search Cubs Path home at 8:27 p.m. after family and friends call for a well-being check. They do not find the bodies.

Jan. 22 -- A second well-being check at the home at about 6:30 p.m. reveals the bodies of Rachel and Lillian Rose covered in blankets and pillows in the bed.

Jan. 23 -- Investigators speak to Entwistle at his parents' Worksop, England home. He said he found his wife and baby dead in his house at about 11 a.m., but said he had no idea who killed them.

Jan. 24 -- Office of the Chief Medical Examiner rules Rachel died of a single gunshot to the head, while Lillian Rose died of a gunshot to the abdomen. He rules both deaths homicides.

Jan. 29 -- Rachel Entwistle's family, through spokesman Joe Flaherty, makes first public statement: "The entire family is overwhelmed by the loss of Rachel and Lillian and the events of last weekend.'' Neil Entwistle is never mentioned in the statement.

Feb. 1 -- Funeral for Rachel and Lillian is held.

Feb. 8 -- Entwistle is arrested by the Metropolitan Police Extradition Unit at the Royal Oak train station in London.

Feb. 15 -- Entwistle is flown back to the United States after he waived his right to fight extradition in England.

Feb. 16 -- Entwistle is arraigned in a packed Framingham District Court room. Judge Robert Greco orders him held without bail. Entwistle is sent to the Middlesex Jail in Cambridge where he was held in the medical unit due to his celebrity status.

March 28 -- Middlesex grand jury indicts Entwistle of two counts of murder, the illegal possession of a firearm and the illegal possession of ammunition.

April 9 -- Lillian Rose would have celebrated her first birthday.

April 11 -- Entwistle is arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court in Cambridge. He pleads not guilty to all charges. Judge Peter Lauriat orders Entwistle held without bail.

Sept. 18 -- Neil Entwistle turns 28 in jail.

Oct. 5 -- Prosecutor Michael Fabbri argues to test Entwistle's DNA. Entwistle's lawyer, Elliot Weinstein, argues against the testing and makes a motion for the case to be dismissed.

Nov. 6 -- Judge Lauriat rules that Entwistle must give his DNA and rejects the motion to be dismissed.

Dec. 14 -- Rachel Entwistle would have turned 28.

Dec. 15 -- Weinstein argues that Entwistle should be released on bail and allowed to return to England.

Dec. 18 -- Lauriat denies the bail request.

Dec. 20 -- Eben Howard, a former Framingham man being held at the jail, attacks Entwistle and kicks him in the abdomen.

Dec. 20 -- Middlesex Jail guards find letters to his parents and to his lawyers in Entwistle's cell that they believe showed he was depressed and may be contemplating suicide.

Dec. 21 -- Entwistle is transferred to the Bridgewater State Hospital for a mental evaluation.

Jan. 9, 2007 -- Entwistle is returned to the Middlesex Jail after his evaluation.

May 26 -- Weinstein files a motion to suppress asking the judge to throw out all evidence found in the Cubs Path home and any evidence gathered after because Entwistle never gave them permission to enter the home without a warrant.

April 9 -- Lillian Rose would have turned 2 years old.

Aug. 30 -- Judge Diane Kottmyer denies motion to suppress.

Sept. 11 -- Weinstein asks Kottmyer to reschedule the trial, scheduled to start on Oct. 1 because he needs more time to analyze evidence. She postpones trial to Jan. 28, 2008.

Sept. 18 -- Entwistle turns 29.

Nov. 14 -- Weinstein requests another trial delay, but Kottmyer denies the request. She later reconsiders her decision and postpones the trial until March 17, 2008.

Dec. 14 -- Rachel Entwistle would have turned 29.

Jan. 25, 2008 -- Weinstein again requests another trial delay because co-counsel Stephanie Page had emergency surgery and would not be able to assist in the trial preparation. Kottmyer sets the new trial date to June 2.

March 14 -- Kottmyer allows Fabbri to send a letter of rogatory to Gibraltar to get records of Entwistle's online gambling debts.

Neil Entwistle Goes To Trial
May 28, 2008 | 11:00 PM
Category: News

Featured On: MyFoxBoston Neil Entwistle, the British man accused of killing his wife Rachel and their infant daughter Lillian in their rented Hopkinton house is about to get his day in court.

The trial starts Monday in Woburn with jury selection and interest in this case is intense. This could be the Trial of the New Century.

I was told today that as many as twenty British media outlets are showing interest in covering the trial. That's on top of all the US networks: FOX, ABC, CNN, NBC and CBS, plus all of the cable law programs, morning shows, the Boston media, and yours truly.

I think the only local case that has received anywhere near this level of attention is the 1997 trial of Louise Woodward.

The jury selection process won't make for dramatic TV, but it is a crucial first step in the trial. It won't be easy finding people who have not formed an opinion about Neil Entwistle, but that's exactly what the prosecution and defense will be doing early next week. It's thought this will take three or four days, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes even longer.

Can you imagine the people right now getting ready to report for jury duty Monday morning in Woburn who have no idea they may be deciding Entwistle's fate under the glaring spotlight of the World Media? That's a tall task indeed.

I'm always on the hunt for strange little footnotes. And here's one.

Three of the biggest Boston area trials over the last decade involved British residents: Louise Woodward, Richard Reid (the shoe bomber), and now Neil Entwistle. And there is another common thread trying them all together.: Middlesex County DA Gerry Leone.

Leone prosecuted Louise Woodward as a Middlesex County ADA. As a federal prosecutor he helped convict Richard Reid. And now Leone is the D.A. as Neil Entwistle goes to trial. If anyone knows what it's like to be in the middle of a media hurricane, it's Leone.

Over the next several weeks, you'll frequently see me covering the Entwistle trial. In addition to my trusty pen and legal pad, I'll have a computer to update the blog with information I can't get into my TV story. I hope you'll join us.

You'll also see some of your other favorite Fox25 reporters in Woburn covering the case as well.

Since you are reading this, I don't think you are a prospective juror. Let me know now what you think of the Entwistle trial. Does it still fascinate you? Why? Is there too much media coverage (I won't ask you the opposite on that one.:)

In other words, let me know what you think.

Bob Ward

Would-be juror: ‘Oh, my God’
Monday, June 2nd, 2008

A potential juror stunned by the press pack (30 strong) covering the Entwistle trial turned to this reporter to say: “You journalists or something? Oh, my God!”

Two of us hearing this did not respond back. (That would get the blog booted.) Yet, it’s clear by the grim faces of potential jurors they know those chosen are in for a long haul.

All 170 jury candidates — 16 are needed — are to be called up soon, but the court buzz is new motions have just been filed. What now? When will this case ever commence?

Really, between jury selection and the defense team fighting every tiny thing this trial could be delayed for a while. That seems to have been their modus operandi all along anyway.

In MA the judge does the jury questioning in voir dire, so, seating a jury will be much quicker than if the lawyers did it. I think that's what was said on TTV.

Potential witness list released in Entwistle case
EXCERPT

The list of prosecution and defense witnesses who might be called to testify in the murder trial against Neil Entwistle includes 29 people from England among the more than 160 names listed.

Among the Bay State residents expected to be called in the case against Entwistle, a British national accused of murdering his wife Rachel and infant daughter Lillian Rose in the family's 6 Cubs Path, Hopkinton, home more than two years ago are Rachel Entwistle's mother Priscilla Matterazzo and step-father Joe Matterazzo; her brother Zachary Matterazzo; Massachusetts state Troopers Robert Manning and David Mackin; Beth Fisher Abbot, a chemist with the state police crime lab in Sudbury; and JoAnna and Maureen Gately, listed as family friends.

Prosecution witnesses from the Hopkinton Police Department, on the list released at Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn this morning on the first day of jury selection in Entwistle's murder trial, include Detective Greg DeBoer and Lt. Richard Flannery.

Other witnesses are listed as Inspector Irving Brandt of Boston; Michelle Brant from Worcestershire, England; Detective Sgt. Clive Blake, of London; Kim Puig, who owned the Hopkinton house which the Entwistles had rented less than two weeks before the killings; and several Hopkinton police officers and law enforcement officials from England.

The 165 potential jurors were given a nine-page questionnaire. Jurors were then going to be questioned individually by Judge Diane Kottmyer. Each lawyer can eliminate 16 jurors without cause. Jury selection is expected to take three or four days, followed by a trial expected to last at least a month.
