WORCESTER: Missing woman's family offers $5,000 reward
Staff Report

SNOW HILL — The family of Christine Marie Sheddy, a woman missing from Pocomoke City since Nov. 13, is offering a $5,000 reward for information that will help locate her, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office said.

http://i1.tinypic.com/6yw1dzc.jpg

The sheriff’s office and other police agencies continue to look for Sheddy who was last seen at 2911 Byrd Road in Pocomoke City.

Sheddy is 27 years old, approximately 5-foot, 3-inch tall and weighs 100 pounds. At the time of her disappearance, she had blond shoulder length hair.

Sheddy and her two sons, ages 2 and 4, were staying with her mother Lyn Dodenhoff at her Bowers Beach home before traveling to Pocomoke City. Sheddy told her mother she was visiting a couple she met through her boyfriend, who is also the father of her children, according to Dodenhoff.

"Christine was supposed to come back here and pack her stuff to visit her sister in Philadelphia on Nov. 17," Dodenhoff said. "Nobody has heard from her and she's never left her children home alone."

Anyone with information about Sheddy is asked to contact the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation at 410-352-3476 and the WorcesterCounty Sheriff’s Office at 410- 632-1111.

The public’s help is needed to bring Sheddy home before the holidays.

Search Continues For Woman Last Seen In Pocomoke

By Shawn J. Soper, News Editor
Originally published November 30, 2007

BERLIN – Worcester County law enforcement agencies this week have expanded their search for a Delaware woman and mother of two who went missing in the Pocomoke area over two weeks ago.

Christine Marie Sheddy, 26, of Bowers Beach, Del., was last seen on Nov. 13 in the Byrd Street area of Pocomoke. She has been missing now for over two weeks, touching off a search effort across Worcester County that has now been expanded to include neighboring Delaware and Virginia.

“We don’t have any more information on the missing woman,” said Worcester County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Ed Schreier this week. “We have conducted searches in the area and have not been able to locate her yet,”

Sheddy left her Bowers Beach, Del. home on Nov. 13 with her two sons, ages two and four, in tow to visit a couple in Pocomoke she had met earlier through her boyfriend. Sheddy remained behind with her two sons at the Pocomoke residence while the couple went to pick up their own children at school.

When the couple returned, Sheddy was gone and her two boys were left home alone. Sheddy was supposed to have returned to her Bowers Beach residence on Nov. 17. She was reported missing, touching off a search throughout the county and beyond. According to reports, Sheddy’s two sons are now staying with their father.

The Worcester County Bureau of Investigation (WCBI) has taken the lead on the case with the cooperation of allied law enforcement agencies although WCBI detectives do not suspect foul play at this time.

Sheddy’s information has been submitted to other law enforcement agencies in the county including Ocean City. Her picture and description has been circulated to the allied agencies.

“We have her information in our data base and her picture and description has become part of our routine roll call each day,” said Ocean City Police Department’s Barry Neeb. “We haven’t been given any indication she might be in Ocean City, but we remain on the lookout for her.”

Sheddy is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs around 100 pounds. Anyone with information is urged to call WCBI Detective Robert Trautman at 1-800-811-8396.

Couldn't find any information in either of the articles mentioning the make and color of the vehicle she was driving. Wish they would give the public that information.

Hope she is found safe.

Thanks, Grande.

Search is still on for missing woman
By Candice Evans
Staff Writer

POCOMOKE CITY -- Worcester County detectives continue to search for woman who went missing from a Pocomoke couple's home last month.

Christine Marie Sheddy's family recently offered $5,000 for information that will help find her.

"We continue to get calls and information," said Sgt. Tim Keen of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation on Friday. "We're trying everything we can to track her down."

Sheddy, 26, was last seen Nov. 13 in the area of Byrd Road in Pocomoke City. Sheddy and her two sons, ages 2 and 4, were staying with her mother, Lynn Dodenhoff at her Bowers Beach home before traveling to Pocomoke City. Sheddy told her mother she was visiting a couple she met through her boyfriend, who is also the father of her children.

Sheddy stayed behind with her two sons when the Pocomoke couple left their home to pick up their children from school.

When they returned, Sheddy was gone and her boys were home alone, said Dodenhoff, 50.

Detective Robert Trautman of the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, said they expanded their search to Delaware and Virginia in November.

Sheddy's two boys were staying with their father, Trautman said in earlier reports.

Even though police don't suspect any foul play, Keen said "we're looking into everything."

Sheddy is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. Anyone with information on Sheddy's location or disappearance is asked to call Trautman at 410-352-3476 or 800-811-8396.

"Good Morning, as you probably know, I am Christines mother. Just an update. On saturday there was a search conducted on the property by a search and rescue group from Virginia. Flat Land search and Rescue was there name. My husband and I went to the property to make sure that a search was going on. You must realize that we have had conflicting stories this entire investigation and just needed to see for ourselves. We spoke with the resuce team and they told us they had searched more area than they were asked too. I thanked them for their help but I would like to take this oppertunity to thank them publically for volenteering their time to look for my daughter. When my husband and I left the property to go home, I happened to notice that just a short distance from the property is the town dump. This has bothered me, and still does. thank you for letting me respond in this forum."

"I do not understand why the emphasis is placed on how she met Tia and Jr as we all meet different people everyday in our lives. And Christine is an adult and she made a conscience decision as an adult to call them and have them come and meet her at Walmart and pick her and the children up . Levi was not there! This is a decision that she made personally! She did not go there to merely have a happy visit. She was fleeing her mothers home! And as for the My Space pages Christine created not only hers but Levi’s as well. When I asked Isaac were his mother was he told me she ran away.I do not know if this is true. All I can say is that Christine would leave her children for days at a time without letting Levi know where she was!! She would say that I am going to Walmart and the library and we would not see her for 5 days. And she has done this on several occasions. When Levi would call around looking for her, Christine’s mother would state that she had no idea where she was and yet on Dan’s show she admitted that SHE DID KNOW WHERE CHRISTINE WAS but chose not to inform Levi!!! How cruel can you be !!! He has lost jobs over this!!! As he would not be able to go to work as Christine would never show up to get the kids and he could not get them in daycare as the waiting list were so long and they would not accept the kids on an emergency basis. The kids are now stable and in childcare and he is doing a wonderful job as a father as he always done. Christine did not raise the kids for 4 years by herself as Christine and Levi and the kids lived together as a family for 3+ years!!! I want to Thank Dan for the way he handled the Broadcast and I would just like to say that REGARDLESS OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES WE ALL NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO FIND CHRISTINE AND BRING HER HOME!!!! And please do not be too harsh on Levi as he loves Christine and to him she does no wrong. And this has been very hard on him and the Children. Please if anyone has access to an airplane or helicopter could you please fly and search over the Byrd Road area in Pocomoke MD it is a farmhouse with a long lane right next to another house it looks as though they share the same driveway. Please do an air search someone please."

"Levi likes his myspace right? When the police interviewed the boys they said it was uneventful. And from what the police told me they were sleeping when she disapeared! So it seems that someone told them she ran away. Christine would drop the boys off WITH Levi. She did not leave them in an empty home! She left them with their father! And don’t you think she deserved a break since she was the one who had them all the time? Sure my mom covered for Christine because she knew Christine needed a break and agreed Levi should spend time with them. For crying out loud he couldn’t watch the kids when Christine wanted to go to her best friends wedding (which was planned far in advance and I had to pay for a babysitter) and he ended up calling the reception hall asking to speak with her? Who does that? AND ISAAC HAD TO GET SURGERY DONE IN CHRISTIANA, AND I HAD TO DRIVE FROM PHILLY TO DOVER TO CHRISTIANA BACK TO DOVER AND BACK TO PHILLY. WHY DIDN’T HE DO IT? HE DIDN’T EVEN CALL OR COME WITH US! And THE DAY AFTER she went missing YOU HAD THEM IN DAY CARE, so why was it so hard then? Really they lived for three years together? News to me. What house were they able to sustain for that long? oh and I’m sure you recieved the Christmas gift I sent them (a few outfits) and I didn’t get a thanks. Don’t you know you are the reason that they aren’t taking this case seriously? You act like she dumped them off at a strangers house and no one knew where she was. She dropped them off at their DADS and didn’t want him to know where she was because he would want her to pick them up ASAP. She wanted a break! It’s only fair he watch them once in a while. And I mean once in a while. I’m not even going to go futher expose the way they treated each other. But I know that all Christine wanted was for him to step up and take care of them. I do want to put their relationship aside and focus on the kids and finding Christine. But don’t act like he was father of the year for all these years because EVERYONE knows their story and there is nothing you can say to change that. Oh and the boys were sick one year and he wouldn’t go and get them medicine! Christine had to call her girlfriend to pick it up!!! If you really want to find Christine then don’t portray her as if she left them all the time with strangers because she didn’t. I am glad they are in daycare and it does seem like he is playing his role now. I love the boys and I want to put this behind us and focus on that."

Just done reading about this case. Seems like the perception is that Christine ran away which scares me to death. I really do not think a mother that spends that much time with her children would just up and leave one day! Christine's family certainly does not believe that she would do that.

If LE thinks she ran off, would that mean they are not putting forth an effort to find her? Scary.

:1222423:Christine's case needs some attention by LE and locals so she can be found. I cannot find anything in the news about her case other than what Kittymom posted about the found body not being hers.

Did the authorities give up on Christine Sheddy ?

February 17, 2008

The news the past two weeks in my neck of the woods has surrounded the killer of Jessie Davis, the 26-year-old mother of one (and expecting another) from Plain Township, Stark County, Ohio. Bobby Cutts Jr. was convicted of her murder and that of her soon-to-be-born baby girl, Chloe, among other charges. The disappearance of Jessie in mid-June prompted search parties, some called for by Cutts (who at the time was not a suspect), others led by a group called Texas EquuSearch. Apparently, the guilt of what he did led him to lead authorities to Jessie’s body nine days after her disappearance in a Summit County park, a place where no one would have ever thought of looking.

I see a lot of parallels between the case of the missing (and later found) Jessie Davis and that of missing (and yet to be found) Christine Sheddy. The big differences are, first of all, no Christine, and secondly, no one stepping forward saying they know something, one way or another, about her disappearance. Seeing as how she’s been missing for three months now, foul play is suspected, but apparently (if that is the case) whoever is responsible is at peace with him/her self (noot pointing any fingers).

I also don’t see any involvement from those close to Christine. First of all, where has Levi Hall been in this whole thing ? If Christine were my girlfriend, I’d be searching day and night for her and I wouldn’t rest until she was found. And I would have the support of my family as well, no matter what they thought of her. Family is about binding together to help one of their own in a time of need, not about hurling fiery darts at the family of the missing party. It’s time for Joyce Hall and her family to bury the hatchet and extend an olive branch to Lynn Dodenhoff and family, for the good of Christine, no matter what she thinks about Christine’s character.

Someone has suggetsed, on another blog, that Christine ran away. I want to cover that angle, and play devil’s advocate for a moment. Say she did just walk away. There are photos of Christine all over the web. There are notices of her disappearance all over the place. Plus, we live in the most technologically-advanced age in the history of the world. Nearly everyone has a camera on their person at all times, in the form of a cel phone. If she was in another town, you’d think someone somewhere would have seen one of these notices, seen her, taken a picture, sent it to either WCBOI, WBOC, WGMD, or some media outlet (at the minimum) and lead officials to look in that area.

Once again, courtesy of WGMD, if you know anything about the disappearance of Christine Sheddy, here is the information you need…

“A reward is being offered for information that leads to finding Christine Marie Sheddy, who has been missing since last month. Sheddy is 27 years old, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. She went missing on Nov. 13, and at that time Sheddy had blond, shoulder-length hair. Sheddy and her two young sons were staying with her mother at her Bowers Beach home. Sheddy told her mother she was going to Pocomoke to visit a couple she met through her boyfriend, who is the father of her children. Anyone with information about Sheddy should contact the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation or the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office. Those numbers – 410-352-3476 or 410-632-1111.”

This Just In: America's Most Wanted Picks Up Missing Woman Christine Sheddy Case

I just got an email from the mother of Christine Sheddy with a link to America's Most Wanted, detailing her Missing Person's Case. You can click on the link below to see the site.
The wheels of Justice seems to move in Super Slow Mo, as we sent a complete package of everything we had compiled regarding Christine, to Americas Most Wanted in January.

Carrie Wise, daughter of murdered Pocomoke resident Judy Woljcik also started a letter writing campaign to AMW with hundreds of letters pouring in, all in hopes of getting national media attention.

At this point it appears from the AMW website that this is a Internet Case Only at this time. I didn't see anything on the site that indicated an air time for Christine's Case on the actual show.

Lets not forget to keep Christine, her family, and the officers in all of the agencies looking for her in our prayers so that she will be found.

Mother continues search for missing daughter
A year after Pocomoke City woman was reported missing, leads have gone cold

November 20, 2008

POCOMOKE CITY -- Lynn Dodenhoff hasn't seen or heard from her daughter in 12 months.

A yearlong investigation continues into the whereabouts of Christine Sheddy, the 27-year-old Delaware woman who disappeared from a Pocomoke City farmhouse in November 2007, leaving behind her children and plenty of questions about what happened at the rural Byrd Road residence.

"I was hoping for something by now," said Dodenhoff, who has struggled to keep her daughter's name and face in the public eye.

But after a year of searching, both Dodenhoff and the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation are hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

"I just think it is going to take a hunter or a new development coming to the area before I find my daughter," she said.

Sgt. Michael McDermott of the WCBI said while officials were initially optimistic about finding Sheddy, the trail of evidence has long since gone cold.

"She still hasn't been heard from by anyone in over a year," McDermott said. "Right now, the family and law enforcement are fearing the worst and investigating it from that perceptive."

Sheddy was last seen Nov. 13, 2007, at the home of Clarence Jackson and Teresa Johnson -- whom she knew through her boyfriend, Levi Hall -- on Byrd Road, where she was staying with her two young sons.

Dodenhoff said when Sheddy called her Nov. 10, she was very upset and made plans to come home. The two women arranged for Hall to pick up Sheddy and their two children in Pocomoke City that Tuesday and bring them to Dodenhoff's home in Delaware.

On Nov. 13, before Hall's arrival, Sheddy was in the house with her sons when Jackson and Johnson left to pick up their children from school. When the couple returned, Sheddy had disappeared.
'They didn't know her'

Dodenhoff said she notified Worcester County law enforcement of her daughter's disappearance about 20 hours after she was informed. However, after officials received questionable reports about Sheddy's character from Hall's family and information found on her My Space.com profile, it delayed the search under the assumption that she had run away by choice, she said.

"I have to deal with that," she said. "I have to deal with what they say. I mean, I could go postal if I wanted to, but what's that going to prove? I've heard several things, I've heard she's a prostitute or into drugs. But they didn't even know her."

Many of the scandalous things said about Sheddy are untrue, said Dodenhoff, who described her daughter as a loving mother caught in a tumultuous relationship with Hall.

"She was great," Dodenhoff said. "She was moody but, I mean, for the most part, she was the most loving person. She would help anybody. She would make you laugh -- oh, god, she would make you laugh."

The speculation about Sheddy's personal life among law enforcement officials, Dodenhoff said, has led to a mismanaged investigation into her disappearance.

While McDermott -- who also serves as mayor of Pocomoke City -- said the WCBI is doing everything it can to find the missing woman, Stephanie Burke, editor of a local blog, the Pocomoke Tattler, said police had been uncooperative in providing her any information about Sheddy, turning down offers for help to search the area, and seem to be of the opinion that "she deserved it," Burke said.

"It just seems like there is no follow-through," Burke said. " I understand the police can't tell me everything, and they can't tell Lynn everything, but when you have a whole community willing to help ... I don't understand what their philosophy is in not putting the heat on."

During investigations, police are reluctant to give away information that could jeopardize a case's eventual prosecution in court. McDermott said officials had searched the area around Byrd Road several times after Sheddy's disappearance and continue to investigate alleged sightings and other tips they receive.

Working against time

Tom Mauriello, a professor of forensic science at the University of Maryland, said in a missing person's case, it is important to look at all aspects of the person's life to determine what may have happened.

"There are thousands of things that you would look at," Mauriello said. "There are so many different avenues."

A good investigation would include inquiries into the missing person's criminal records, mental health history, personal life and bank accounts before and after the disappearance for anything out of the ordinary. Furthermore, officials should search the places where the person was last seen for any information.

"Every minute that ticks off the clock is a loss of evidence," Mauriello said. "Evidence can be compromised out in the elements, of course it could. Could it be eliminated? Not necessarily."

Key people in the missing person's life and the last to see him or her alive should be interviewed and submitted to polygraph testing, something which Hall, Jackson and Johnson have declined to do, Dodenhoff said.

Calls for the public's help seem to have produced few leads into the case. Neither has a $5,000 reward that, until it was recently withdrawn, was offered by the family for any information, nor the posting of Sheddy's story on "America's Most Wanted."

And after a year of wondering, Dodenhoff wants answers and to be able to tell her three grandchildren -- Sheddy's two sons, who now live with Hall, and a daughter, who is in Dodenhoff's custody -- what happened to their mother.

"All I want is my daughter so I can bring her home and put her to rest," Dodenhoff said. "I couldn't care less who was involved, I couldn't care less. I just want her home. That way her children could move on and not wonder why their mother left; because she would never leave them. It will come to an end, and we will find my daughter, and justice will be served. I have full confidence that will happen."

Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who is a part of this site, Pocomoke Tattler. I have been so blessed when it comes to all things I have learned. Thanks to Stephanie, I made many new friends, and have been reunited with many old friends and family. I am so grateful to everyone who sent their condolences and memories of my mother. I can never thank you all enough for everything you have done and offered to do. Special thanks to Lynn, Christine Sheddy’s mom, who has become a special part of my life. Even though my mom has passed, and we have no hope left in her scenario, I now have a new found hope. I will stand behind Lynn and her family in the fight to find Christine. I hope that she will soon have an answer for all of the questions she ponders daily. In the effort to help Lynn and her family, our family is asking that anyone wishing to send flowers or donate money, to please donate the monies to Lynn & her family to aid her in any way possible. She has many new challenges to face daily, and I would like to see that things go as smoothly for her as possible. Please keep in mind that her daughter is still missing, and that we all need to stand behind her in this horrific time. I’m sure you have, but just imagine if this was your daughter… You would hope that everyone you either knew or didn’t know would stand behind you and your family until the search was over.

Citizen-led search for missing woman this weekend

By Jenny Hopkinson • Staff Writer • March 19, 2009

POCOMOKE CITY -- More than a year ago, Christine Sheddy disappeared from a Byrd Road farm house and has not been heard from since.

Family and friends of the then 27-year-old Dela-ware woman, and local residents, plan to search the area around where she was last seen this weekend in hopes of finding clues to explain what happened.

Lynn Dodenhoff, Shed-dy's mother, said she expects at least 50 people to participate in what she says is the first large-scale comprehensive search of the area.

"We've been waiting so long," Dodenhoff said. "There's been little hit-and miss-searches, but nothing like this."

Sheddy was last seen on Nov. 13, 2007 at the Byrd Road home of Clarence Jackson, whom she was visiting with her two sons. Sometime that afternoon, Jackson left to run errands, leaving Sheddy and her boys at the house. When he returned she had disappeared, leaving her sons behind.

Since then, despite an ongoing investigation by the Worcester County Bureau of investigation, there seems to have been no substantial leads into the case.

Now the family -- with the help of law enforcement, local officials and Pocomoke City blogger Stephanie Burke -- have organized a search of the more than 70 acres around where Sheddy was last seen. Whether they find new physical clues or make the grim discovery of Sheddy's body, they say, they seek closure.

"I hope we find her that way we can bring her home, because I hate the fact she's out there, tossed aside like garbage," Dodenhoff said. "I just want her home. I want her home so her children will know she didn't leave them."

Flatland Search and Rescue, under the leadership of Gregg Holland, will assist volunteers in scouring the area.

"It's a swampy sloppy wet area," Holland said. "Expect to get muddy unless we have a few days of really warm dry weather."

Those interested in helping can meet at the Elks Lodge parking lot at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 21. From there, the group will drive to the property on Byrd Road and volunteers will be assigned to work with trained rescuers.

Those involved in the search should wear gloves, water-proof boots, denim pants and a long sleeved shirt and bring a water bottle and a snack. Anybody is welcome to join the search party.

No leads after search for missing woman
About 90 volunteers comb 67 acres in Pocomoke for clues in disappearance

March 22, 2009

POCOMOKE CITY -- On the edge of the woods, not far from the road, Dawn Nichols found a bone.

The Pittsville resident called to the Flatland Search and Rescue member who was leading the group of six volunteers. She hurried over to take a look at the weather-bleached bone leaning against the bottom of a tree. The rest of the group, several yards away, fell quiet.

Had Nichols found a clue to what happened to Christine Sheddy?

About 90 volunteers gathered early Saturday morning at the Byrd Road farm where Sheddy, then 27, was last seen. Equipped with rubber boots, gloves and the hope that something may still be out there a year after the Delaware woman disappeared, friends, family and local residents searched more than 67 acres of fields, woods and swamp.

And about two hours into the search, Nichols found what turned out to be a deer bone.

From several yards away, Lynn Dodenhoff, Sheddy's mother, let out a long breath.

"Your heart just dropped, didn't it?" Dodenhoff said.

Since Sheddy disappeared Nov. 13, 2007, the property around the house has been scoured several times by area law enforcement and her family, who Dodenhoff said had unofficially "ninja-ed in" on multiple occasions. However, Saturday's search was the largest.

"I think this is wonderful," Dodenhoff said. "It's great to be a part of something with everybody, instead of us tramping through the woods by ourselves."

Organized by Dodenhoff and Pocomoke City resident Stephanie Burke, Flatland Search and Rescue led groups of volunteers from all over Delmarva, including members of the Wicomico Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol and Wal-Mart employees from 10 area stores.

"I am so proud of our town," Burke said. "At least if we don't find anything today, everyone will know all that can be done has been done. And if we do find something -- it will be bittersweet -- but then Lynn can have some closure."

Sheddy, a mother of three, disappeared from the property where she had been staying with acquaintances of her boyfriend, Levi Hall. An ongoing inquiry by the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation has turned up few answers as to why Sheddy went missing. Despite theories that her daughter may have run off, Dodenhoff said she knows that Sheddy would have never left her children.

And for Patty Miller, a Delmar resident who spent her Saturday morning searching for a woman whom she had never met, the thought of her own children was enough to make her volunteer for the cause

"I have a daughter," Miller said. "And I know if it were my daughter, I would want all the help I could get."

The search and rescue group out of Oak Hall was on the property in December 2003 doing the same thing.

After about an hour of scouring the section of woods Saturday, the group emerged back on to Byrd Road having found nothing but a strange pile of sticks, a few old beer and soda cans and the deer bone.

Back at the farmhouse, where area businesses had left donated food for the searchers and volunteers are assigned their next place to look, Margaret Keesser, Sheddy's 72-year-old grandmother, waited for any news. She didn't get any Saturday; no new information came from the search.

"It's always on our mind," Keesser said. "You feel guilty having a good time becasue you know Christine is out there somewhere."

POCOMOKE, Md. - One year after her disappearance, people continue searching for a missing Pocomoke woman. On Saturday, a group of volunteers looked for clues hoping for a break in the case. Christine Sheddy has been missing since November 2007. Her mother, Lynn Dodenhoff, hasn't given up hope that her daughter will be found.
"I want to go day by day, but if we don't find anything today, at least we can cross this area off our list and go somewhere, check other places," Dodenhoff says.
However, she isn't searching alone. Over 150 volunteers came to the farmland and wooded area where Sheddy was last seen. Stephanie Burke, who never knew Sheddy, heard about the story and wanted to help out.
"More and more people were asking can we please do a search? Can we please do a search? Well, it just took on a life of its own," Burke says.
Both Flatland Search and Rescue and the Civil Air Patrol were on site. They told groups what to look for as they combed the 67 acres of land. Burke said they will continue to search for the mother of two, until they the mystery is solved.
"Everybody in this community wants to know, that they know, that they did the very best that they could to find this woman," Burke says.
Dodenhoff said the support has been incredible.
"It means a lot that people will take the time out to come out here and search for somebody they've never met before," Dodenhoff says.
For these volunteers, that doesn't matter. They're a community pulling together to help one of their own. If you have anymore information, contact the Worcester County Sheriff's Department at (410) 632-1111.

Christine Marie Sheddy, a 27 year old mother of three disappeared from a small farm house in a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland on November 13th 2007. The last two people who allegedly saw Christine were a couple by the name of Clarence "Butch" Jackson Jr. and his girlfriend Tia Johnson. The couple allege that they left their home on the 13th of November to pick their children up from a local school. When they returned approximately two hours Christine was gone. Curiously enough Christine's two young children were still there. Even more curiously all of her possessions were still there. These facts by themselves may not really be all that staggering, just a mother that had enough and ran away. And that is exactly what she would have had to do run. Christine did not have a car. Now, if you are reading this in a major metropolis or even a major suburban area you might say "she took a bus, maybe a cab". Remember I said a "small" town, and I do mean small town, public transportation is almost zero. I suppose Christine must have conspired with someone else to pick her up, drive her away to a new life leaving her two young children to fend for themselves with two people she barely even knew. Or...maybe we do not know everything there is to know about this.
I suppose I have to question the events of that day. If you were the last person to see another human being and you claim to want to help find that person, would you refuse to take a polygraph test? No, me either I would want to help law enforcement exclude me as a person of interest as fast as I possibly could. So why would the couple who, by their own statements, were the last people to see Christine alive, refuse to take a polygraph? Could it be they have something to hide? How about this, if you were an investigator and you were at the scene of the last place a missing person was seen would you check the criminal records of the last people to see her? How about the estranged father of the children? Why would you accept the word of the mother of the estranged boyfriend as gospel? Wouldn't that be a bit of a conflict of interest? I mean traditionally the boyfriend would be the number one suspect, wouldn't his mother attempt to form an alibi for her son? Why wouldn't he take a polygraph test? It is his sons mother we are talking about, right? All of these questions and many more seem reasonable and logical but at the beginning of this none of these seemingly logical questions were asked and because of this we are no closer to finding Christine or more realistically her remains than we were that day.

SNOW HILL: Human remains found in parking lot
Staff Report • February 19, 2010

SNOW HILL – Local law enforcement agencies are investigating human remains that were discovered buried in a parcel of land near the Snow Hill municipal parking lot.

Worcester County State’s Attorney Joel Todd said “it would be inappropriate to comment” on whether the body was that of missing woman Christine Sheddy. Sheddy disappeared from a Pocomoke-area farm house in November 2007.

Officials from the Maryland State Police, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Worcester County Bureau of investigation and Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office were led to the site as part of a larger investigation, Todd said.

The remains, which were found with a pair of shoes and some jeans, will be sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore.

Todd said he did not know how long the body had been there, and declined to comment any further for the sake of the investigation.

Although it will be sad if the remains located is Christine, it will also bring closure to her children with the 'did she?'. They will finally know their mother did not willingly walk away and abandon them. The answer has been long coming and the process slow.

Remains identified as Del. woman
Associated Press

SNOW HILL, MD. — Authorities says remains found on the grounds of a Snow Hill bed and breakfast are those of a Delaware woman who went missing in 2007.

Using dental records, the Maryland Medical Examiner's office identified the body found Feb. 19 as that of 27-year-old Christine Marie Sheddy. The cause of death has not been determined.

Worcester County State's Attorney Joel Todd says the death is being treated as suspicious.

Sheddy and her two young sons were staying with at her mother's home in Bowers Beach, Del., in November 2007, when she vanished.

Texas teen charged in Del. woman's killing
Ganett/The (Salisbury, Md.) Daily Times • March 10, 2010

SNOW HILL, Md. — A Texas teenager is in Worcester County jail facing first-degree murder charges in the death of Christine Marie Sheddy, the Delaware woman who went missing in November 2007 from Pocomoke City.

The Worcester County State’s Attorney’s office said in a statement that 19-year-old Justin Michael Hadel of College Station, Texas, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault.

The statement said Hadel had waived extradition after a fugitive warrant was served on Feb. 25 and was brought back to Worcester on March 9 to face the charges.

Hadel is accused of killing Sheddy on or about Nov. 13, 2007, at 2911 Byrd Road in Pocomoke, according to a statement of charges.

Sheddy’s remains were found last month in downtown Snow Hill.

Sheddy, of Frederica, Del., went missing Nov. 14, 2007. The 26-year-old single mother had last been seen at the Byrd Road residence, where she had been staying as a guest, authorities said.

Charging documents say Hadel had also been a guest at the residence at the time.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office and WCBI have been working on the case, with assistance from State Police and the State’s Attorney's office. Since her disappearance, some area residents orchestrated their own searches as well, combing the Pocomoke area on foot.

An investigation led police Feb. 19 to the grounds of the River House Inn, a bed and breakfast in downtown Snow Hill, where they unearthed the skeletal remains.
