Shannon search costs over £2.5m
More than 300 officers were involved in the search for Shannon Matthews
The police investigation into the disappearance of Dewsbury schoolgirl Shannon Matthews has so far cost more than £2.5m, it has been revealed.
The nine-year-old was missing for three weeks earlier this year before being found in a flat near her home.
More than 250 uniformed officers and 60 detectives were involved in the round-the-clock search operation.

I'm glad she was found safe.
Could you tell me how much that is in U.S. dollars, LL?

It's just under double, so probably about $4.7 million. This story was awful - half her family were involved...sick!

If her family was involved, was it some kind of hoax?
I just read your link that said the mother and the kidnapper are due in court. Were they involved with each other?
Can't LE make them pay for some of it?

Here are three old articles - it went downhill fast!

People realised that something was seriously wrong when Shannon wouldn't go home - it was on the news that she had chosen to stay with a foster family. Then we found out why!

That poor little girl!
The links said there are seven children. Were they taken away?
I hope that poor excuse for a mother never gets any of them back!

I have no idea - generally I would say that they would have gone to stay with another family member, but who can you trust in that family?

Let's see, five years ago the mom would have been 27 and the live-in kiddie-porn "step-father" 17. (I'm not clear on whether or not they're married.) The little girl would have been 2 years old. Why did the uncle person take her? Oh, I'm so confused!!!:francis:
