I guess it was.
Now if we could figure our why they kept harping on about Rachel's high school years and the friends she had over back then.
I kept waiting for the defense to ask Michael if he ever had sex with Rachel. Seemed headed that way....

I haven't watch this trial yet, was skipping jury selections.
I remember when this happened, that he fled to Britan after his claim of finding his family dead in bed, claiming he panicked. He was heavily in debt, not working and had life insurance on his family. Which I believe was the motive for this senseless killing of his family. I guess the love of money is the root of all evil.
Is this trial on CTV umm TruTV? I'll tune in in about an hour.
Catch you when you get back, London.

Hi LI! I missed that. (I didn't see all of the videos though.) That poor man! They still got DNA from the gun after it was fired? Did he normally go shooting on Saturdays? Maybe NE knew this and thought the DNA would be damaged, covering his tracks (I don't think he was that intelligent!)

I have no idea what that whole thing was about Rachel - unless to insinuate Michael had a "thing" for Rachel and couldn't bear to see her with another man. I think this defense is just throwing out all kinds of things so at closing they can say any number of people had motive, means, and opportunity, so therefore it's not reasonable that Neil did it.*
* Note to lurking defense intern - we're not buying it and neither is the jury...

Can you imagine how Priscilla felt when she found out it was JOE'S gun?
I know nothing about guns...but Neil must have cleaned it after he used it. Joe seemed to be the type that always cleaned his guns after he used them. I would think he would have noticed it had been used otherwise.

I don't think Joe could have noticed it was used. Unless he knew it had been cleaned and he smelled of it and smelled gunpowder and not cleaning oils. I doubt if he would have done that though. I imagine he just took the gun, loaded it and began shooting. :(
I think the defense is beating an unbelieveable theory to say Joe killed Rachel and that baby. Even if he'd have killed Rachel, he had no reason to kill the baby. None.

This attorney comes across as attacking with every witness she questions. It's irritating!!
Ms. Page certainly does have an annoying way of asking questions...I can see why I read so many comments on her in yesterdays thread

SO atty. Page is trying to say THIS lady stole some documents from the house? I guess there are papers missing and likely Neil himself took them. But the atty is trying to say THIS woman actually took them. Sheesh almighty.
Anybody But Neil is the recurring theme. Oh, an attorney took them. uh huh Ms. Page.
Mostly they are discussing renting a home vs buying a home and having a three month lease. I never knew they would or could give a three month lease or why someone would take a lease that short.

yes woodland is west of Sac, by Davis. but it has really grown as has much of the area's surronding SAC.
i knew that you had lived on the eastbay. iirc concord area. Vacaville is pretty much the same or at least it looks the same as i soom through it on Hwy 80 the big Nut Tree signs hasn't changed since i was a kid.
Oh, the Nut Tree! We used to stop there all the time going back and forth from SF to Sacto. Hadn't thought of it in years, but one of my fondest memories took place there. After a gymnnastics meet with my team when I was competing. Ahhhhhhhhh we did have us some fun. The Nut Tree! :girl_haha:
We first moved to Hayward when we were "kids", but I lived all over the Bay Area, moved to Walnut Creek when I married my DH.

I don't know but this poor woman got beat up on the stand. If I were her I'd be ticked off---she was accused of stealing from the house and then berated by the judge for no apparent reason.
:girl_sad:When she was walking to the stand and the Judge said that she had a AWE look on her face.

i don't think anyone wants to hire me, cat. :girl_sad: it seems that nobody wants a middle-aged woman when they can hire young, nubile, good-lookin chicks. this is what i am starting to think anyway. i've applied at all these same places before.... and never got called ONE time. I will agree with you that ageism is alive and well. I experienced that once I was in my 40's. I think NE is just selfish; he may have been contemplating suicide but he wasn't going to leave his wife and child behind so he was going to take them along...to me, sort of the "If I can't have a life they can't either" mentality.
I do believe he killed them but I just can't figure out why---obviously he was in deep financial trouble etc. and likely had some insurance on Rachel, but  about why he felt he had to kill them and not himself. He had to know he was going to be caught, suspected and charged.

Well I think Rachel was, anyway. And she was educated and WORKING so they had a safety net: Rachel. Much like Laci Peterson (also a teacher, right?), until she got pregnant. Suddenly they are liabilities, not money machines (same with Kathleen Peterson, now that I think about it: she was in danger of losing HER big time job and income...)
And then Lily became a sucking money pit. I guess NE saw no other way out--I wonder if they are going to present a trigger of some kind? Like a check that was going to bounce---I'm wondering if Rachel was about to find out Neil had no job nor income nor any hope for one.
Something like that.

I go back and forth on his motivation, and his make up. As you say, he doesn't look like a lot of the defendants we've seen sitting in that seat. And, he has done little that proves the sociopath theory. I guess that is what is so scary about true sociopaths....we never see them coming. But still. I feel like something pushed him.

I don't think he's that flashy...neither is his parents...which is good for his case.....but it still doesn't answer why he never called 911 when he found them-he ain't that bashful!
THAT right there is what REALLY makes think he's guilty! there's just NO way an 'innocent' person walks in... finds their spouse and child dead on the bed.... and just leaves!!!! nope! not buyin it!! :lex_10:

I am at my perfect temperature right now, and boy, is that rare! I'm enjoying it. Cool breezes to all of us "women of a certain age." :girl_haha:

He must have hit a low point, there must have been a trigger into desperation.
But if he had gone ahead and killed himself it would make more sense.
He doesn't seem to be the cocky individual we sometimes see sitting in that seat but I really haven't seen much of him---none of the Phil Spector yelling to the press about Nazis, none of the Mike Peterson standing there saying Kathleen was his soul mate, none of the Darren Mack posturing and theatrics...maybe he is just a subdued, shy, quiet sociopathic family murderer.
And maybe Rachel found out about his lying ways and his sick mind and told him she wanted a divorce.thats the million dollar question.:madranting94dp::duh:

WELL DONE!~ You two work well together.....when you're not sitting on each other!~

Don't you just love how some lawyers use hand expressions, some facial and others voice tone when they question witnesses.
Yes!! And some, ALL of the above!~

Right. There are so many things he could have, should have, done differently. Nothing makes sense....except, that he must have done it.

Is this lunch, or just the break? I am trying to schedule my RL activities around the breaks :girl_haha: Maybe I can catch most of today's testimony that way.

lol TP...i'm one of those "hand" ppl!! my students used to imitate me all the time! it was hilarious!! :67302:
:67302: I like facial expressions most with lawyers. Voice usually sends the wrong messages and hands can be rather comical that can distract you and you lose what is being said. Too busy watching to listen. :girl_haha:
