Police Release Facial Reproduction In Effort To ID Remains
(June 9, 2008)—Austin police Monday released a facial reproduction of a young man whose remains were found a year ago and who may have been from the Waco-Temple-Killeen area.
The bones were found on June 24, 2007 in a remote area near 1403 Old Cedar Lane in Austin, police said.
They appear to be those of a white, Hispanic or Asian male between the ages of 15 and 25, police said.
It appears the victim died sometime before December 2006, police said.
The sketch released Monday was made based on the dimensions of the victim’s skull, police said.
A farmer found the bones in a retention pond on a farm near Interstate 35, police said, but investigators weren’t able to recover the full skeleton.
As a result, there’s no way to know for sure how the victim died.
Police said investigators have chased down all the leads in the Austin-area and are now reaching out to Waco/Killeen and San Antonio in hopes someone will recognize the picture.
Austin police are asking anyone with information or who may know of a teenager or young adult male who disappeared around that time to call the Austin Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (512) 974-5210.
