U.S. and Canadian Coast Guards continue Atlantic search for missing sailor

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY.com) -- Coast Guard units from Elizabeth City are part of a massive search in the Atlantic for a single sailor reported as missing at sea.
The Coast Guard issued the following news release describing the situation:
The U.S. and Canadian Coast Guards continue to search today off the the mid-Atlantic for a missing sailor who was reportedly transiting from Bermuda to St. John's, Newfoundland.
Missing is Jakob Fenger, 56, of Iceland.
Coast Guard watchstanders at Rescue Coordination Center Portsmouth received notification at 10:17 a.m. Friday from RCC Iceland that Fenger had not completed his voyage.
A search crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., and a Canadian coast guard Aurora P-3 search crew are searching an area approximately 450 miles northwest off Bermuda to an area 600 miles off the coast of Cape Cod.
Fenger was making his voyage aboard the 35-foot Dystocia, a single-mast, white-hulled sloop. Mariners are requested to keep a lookout and notify RCC Portsmouth at (757) 398-6390 with any information that can assist search efforts.
