Thanks Roamer.
I keep thinking about this and I'm thinking now that these two girls did walk up on and see something they shouldn't have. The area that I live in looks very much like that area of OK, thick woods, creeks, bridges over them on these country roads, etc. We've had problems with these portable meth labs around here for quite a while. My husband actually walked up on a guy on our deer lease last year who was cooking up a batch right there in the woods. He had an igloo cooler with all his supplies in it. I guess they think getting out in the woods like that will prevent anyone from smelling the stink of the meth cooking. The guy took off through the woods, I'm sure because my hubby had his deer rifle with him, and left everything behind.
I have to wonder if these girls did walk up on a cooking operation or something and the person/people decided the girls had seen too much. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the fact that anyone could be evil enough to gun down two innocent little girls. :1187603408.CR.Mothe

Maybe it's time for it's own forum in Crimes and Trials?
Then, we could have threads pertaining to different subjects concerning this case?

I just think it's too much of an overkill for that situation (witnessing a drug operation). Also, that guy got out of Dodge REAL quick....they would have found evidence of a meth lab if that were the case. Elsewhere a "portable" meth lab had been mentioned as a possibility, but I don't think it's likely.
This is all just my own opinion....I've been dead-set on the theory it is one weirdo (adult) who did it as a "thrill kill."
I'm still thinking of the guy in "No Country for Old Men"....that is how I visualize this perp.
I could be wrong, no doubt. Nothing would surprise me. But that is what I think at this time, and actually what I've been thinking right from the start.

I've been thinking about the little dog. Maybe the girls are walking down the road with the puppy and some bad character drives by almost hitting the dog. The girls yell at him and he stops to teach them a lesson. He kills them for disrespecting him. The dog runs away scared and the creep drives away.
Just speculation on my part.

SavannahStar (lovely name), that guy from No Country for Old Men was consummate evil, wasn't he! My husband said he represented fate. It was more of an allegory than anything else. The bravest person was the young woman. She met fate head on and refused to play his game.
I can understand why you would feel that it was a lone killer like that man. This is such an evil crime! It gives you the same creepy, crawly feeling that actor did. Even though I have gotten some psychic hints, I'm not totally sure why this crime happened. I feel more like there were two killers, but I can certainly see why you feel the way you do!

Yes, he was pure evil. And that is just how I picture the perp in this case. Although I will say I am also considering that it could have been two killers...seems LE thinks that is the case.

Weleetka Sketch Artist Tells His Story
POSTED: 11:58 pm CDT June 26, 2008
UPDATED: 12:14 am CDT June 27, 2008

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The artist who made a sketch police hope will lead to the killer of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Paschal-Placker said he tries not to let the emotion of the case impact his work.
Harvey Pratt relied on witness descriptions to sketch the person spotted near the scene of the slayings nearly three weeks ago. Investigators have circulated Pratt’s sketch, but have not found the man they’re looking for.
“He doesn't have anything that just jumps right at you like a broken nose or a unibrow or missing teeth or huge scars,” Pratt said “He's about like most of the drawings that I do, he's pretty normal looking.”
As a sketch artist, Pratt’s job is to look for the small features that may help someone stand out from the crowd. He said he tries to approach his work without emotion, sometimes a tough task in a homicide investigation.
He said he sympathizes with the families of the two girls, but said he doesn’t want to meet them. “It doesn’t help me at all. In fact, it may even cloud me a little bit because you get emotionally involved.”
Pratt said that he’s constantly scanning crowds, looking for people he’s drawn. He even jots down license tag numbers.
He hopes his sketch will help bring the Weleetka investigation to a quick end.
“I want it to be of value, not only for those children, those families, for us, but for law enforcement,” he said.

The Society to Preserve Indigenous Rights and Indigenous Traditions, or SPIRIT, issued a press release Wednesday objecting to the generic nature of a recently released police sketch of an American Indian man as a "person of interest" in the ongoing investigation of the Weleetka child-murders.
But Jessica Brown, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, said the sketch isn't generic. She cited specific information, such as the man's height of 6 feet and hair length, which is down his back in a ponytail.
"What do you want — a tattoo on his forehead?" Brown asked.

Earlier reports made me believe that LE saw no need to release the tapes. I'm sure the tapes are very emotional (as most are). The parents requesting it not be released jumped out at me given the questions regarding the timeline.

OT, sort of. I remember coming upon an accident where 3 little girls had been run over by a classmate of mine who was speeding. Two of them were dead. The third was screaming for her dead sister. I have never gotten over that! Never! I have tears in my eyes right now. I can't talk about it without crying. That was about 41 or 42 years ago. My father had to force me to learn how to drive before I started college. I'm sure that is one of the reasons I didn't want to drive.
You can imagine if the ones you come upon belong to you!
Anyway, thanks KittyMom, for letting us know about the tape!

the Osbi is not investigating Mr. Placker ...he has been cleared ....passed a polygraph ....the girls' autopsy showed no evidence of sexual molestation ....and the one thing Roy cannot explain in his ramblings about a fake poi is : where did the tire tracks showing a u turn at the murder scene come from? are those tracks fake? did the witness make those up? Roy likes the attention by expounding on a contrarian theory ...laced with vulgar and crude expletives ....I would think only similar ilk would even listen to him ..... another screen beret ...another pathetic chatroom bully .
fresh tire tracks doing a u turn at the site of a double homicide could be a coincidence ...but the odds are against it ... the osbi believes the witness is credible ...your theory has nothing roy ....I have an eye witness...tire tracks that match a Ford pick up ....evidence that 2 weapons were used ....a local family that has seen the poi on their property ...what do you have that implicates Placker? I'm talking about evidence ...not B.S.
In fairness to Roy ...I'd say their is a 10% chance that Placker is involved ...not as a shooter ...but as someone who knows the shooter or shooters .... and knows their motive ....but Roy's hypothesis as Placker as the shooter defies all logic ....with respect to evidence ...timeline ...motive ...etc
maybe the Placker kid was supposed to take money to the contact at the bridge to pick up drugs .... after they count the money ...they feel they are short changed and catch up to the girls ...kill them take the drugs and drive away....plausible
I personally think the area has a sexual predator with an assistant who have been watching these girls ... and tried to abduct them .... the girls were probably tough little kids who wouldn't go quietly and these cranked up scumbags murdered them .... I'd say they are probably bi -sexual ...still in the area ...right under le's noses
the autopsies have not been made public ....
one of the girl's was shot in the leg and arm
we all assume the poi was driving the white pick up ...perp #2 could be the driver .... maybe even stopped and checked by le .... the half breed could have been the passenger .... the driver of the truck could be someone that the public or le haven't associated with the crime ...maybe a teenager ....maybe a female
Hey, Columbo...Did I miss it? What channel is covering the story???
You know the one I'm talking about...arrest of the POI?
it should be breaking news very soon .... tonight or tommorrow

I felt the character of the paperback writer was representative of evil. He offered them immortality (in print) if their lives were 'evil' enough to be written about, and in doing so, he both tempted and encouraged them to cross over the threshold to become more vicious and spectacular. Ultimately, they became the Unforgiven.
Powerful story.

I knew that Skyla's bro,Edward Gordon was involved in a murder in Baxter Springs on Jan. 2007. I didn't realize that there was a plead bargain and he is going to testify against his 2 co-defendents next month.
COLUMBUS, Kan.— The jury in a Cherokee County murder trial will begin deliberating today.
The defense rested its case Wednesday in the trial of Samuel Becker, 22, of Pittsburg. He is charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 30, 2007, shooting death of Jamey Richardson in Baxter Springs. Becker also is charged with several other felonies, including kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated assault, with several alleged victims.
Richardson was a former key player for the Pittsburg State University basketball team.
The prosecution rested its case earlier Wednesday. Neither side called co-defendant Edward Gordon to testify. Gordon has an agreement with the prosecution to plead no contest to a charge of second-degree murder. The prosecution would seek a 10-year prison sentence for Gordon. The agreement requires him to testify against his co-defendants
What leaped out at me is Gordon is to testify against his co-defendents and Graham's trial is to start in July, just one month after the girls were killed almost execution style. The first main co-defendant received life plus 68 years and the second co-defendent, Graham was up for his case next.

more than one witness saw the white truck .....the autopsy of sklya shows no sign of sexual activity .....Placker passed a polygraph ..... Upon reaching the crime scene Placker had to retrieve his cell phone from his dead granddaughter's body ....I would think he was a little upset and not thinking straight ....he calls the person coming to pick up the kids ...she gets there and they call 911.......to believe the fake witness theory we have to believe Placker has a network of friends who will lie for him ....Osbi has established that none of the witnesses knew Placker .... they have a method of questioning to determine this .....its a method used by the fbi ....now folks these are FACTS which make Roy's theory hard to digest .....I'll now patiently await incoming insults from the countryfolk against the world crowd

Do you think this killer(s) has killed before? Have there been any similar shootings in recent years in the area? Do you think he is transient or do you think he lives close by (not necessarily local but maybe a neighboring town)?
Look at the characteristics of the disorganized killer in this article.

I don't know Harmony.
I tend to think the girls feel upon something going on with these men. Maybe a drug drop, an argument. I just think they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. These precious girls did nothing but just walk a path they had walked many times before.
<snipped from article Harmony provided>
Disorganized Killer(eg. Berkowitz, Chase ) -
Murder usually happens spur of the moment(with no planning but the one simple objective to kill).
Does not bring any tools('rape kit') to the kill except maybe murder device.
No contact with the victim prior to spur of the moment murder.
No rape, torture etc. will take place before murder.
Kills victim but does not care for evidence usually left at the crime scene(high degree of violence takes place at murder).
Will not move body in an attempt to hide, bury it etc., unconcerned of its discovery.
Killer might be involved further with the dead victim(mutilation, necrophilia, cannibalism, etc) and may also take souvenir
I truly don't know. I have no clue as to why someone would do this. :groan:

I was researching 'thrill kill' and other topics and I came across that. I thought I would post it as 'food for thought'.
Revenge or payback is a viable theory but I think more in regards to Skyla's brother testifying and getting a reduced sentence. But then how did that person know they would be walking at that short period of time and how did they know Skyla was there instead of her home? IMO it did not have to do with sexual advances being rejected because with a gun you can make someone do pretty much anything you ask.
I have no idea either- I mull over all the different theories and they are all senseless. :1187603408.CR.Mothe

If this was a drug deal that the girls witnessed wouldn't killing them draw more attention to the illegal activity? Doesn't make sense to kill eye witnesses to a drug deal then allow other eye witnesses to get a detailed look of you when you have just murdered two little girls. They had to know they were going to be discovered, they did not hide the bodies -they were in plain sight. Again I go back to the disorganized killer. This is the direction I am leaning toward at this time:
-this was a random thrill kill
-this is not their first killing
-they have a fascination with guns and own several
-they are not local but may live in a neighboring city or property
(I don't know if it is one or two killers but I am leaning toward one.)

I think Columbo is putting out theories as they are told to him by the one telling him. Cops always have a theory and try to fit the evidence to support that theory. If it falls through, they come up with another one, and another one and another one until they get it right. And with each one they believe it's the correct theory.
However, why would LE think it was a blotched abduction attempt if they also don't believe a family member was involved. How would those shooters (and I do believe it was 2 of them) have known the child they wanted to abduct was going to be walking in that area, that day, at that time? Unless they were contacted and told they were walking. Only the family knew they were walking.
And was the cross that was allegedly written on the same child the shooters intended to abduct?

False Reports Provide False Hope in Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Paschal-Placker
Residents of Okfuskee County, Oklahoma were glued to their television sets earlier this week when breaking news reports announced that an arrest had been made in connection with the June 8 shooting deaths of 11-year-old Skyla Jade Whitaker and 13-year-old Taylor Dawn Paschal-Placker. Unfortunately, those reports proved to be false and did nothing more than provide the victims' families with false hope.
"We thought they caught the guy," Taylor's uncle, Joe Mosher, told Newsok.com. "We thought they had him in custody. It was right there on the TV — breaking news. It turns out, they had nothing. It was really kind of heartbreaking for us."
The incident that caused all the confusion began Tuesday morning at the Weleetka Middle and High School. According to police, they had received a 911 call alerting them of a domestic disturbance outside the school. When investigators arrived on the scene they arrested Russell Neiley of Weleetka. Neiley had allegedly been threatening to take his own life. During the arrest, the lines of communication got crossed and a message went out that there was a hostage situation at the school. That message proved to be false but it quickly spurred other rumors that the man had bragged about being involved in the young girl's murder.
Yesterday, Fox News published the following report on their Website:
"A man deemed mentally ill was taken into custody Tuesday after bragging falsely that he was involved in the fatal shootings of two young girls on a rural country road … Police followed him, then pulled his pickup over near the town of Henryetta and found a bolt-action rifle inside … Investigators determined through extensive questioning that Weleetka resident Russell Neiley was not actually involved in the shooting."
Other news stations, including KOCO.com, have been reporting the exact opposite, as is evident in an article they published on their Website, which read in part:
"Weleetka police told Eyewitness News 5 that the man was intent on killing himself, that he had no gun and that he had never claimed any involvement in the girls' deaths."
The exact details remain unclear and a spokesperson for the Weleetka police was unavailable for comment. Regardless, what is clear is that Neiley had nothing to do with the girls' deaths.
"We have got a guy in custody, but it has nothing to do with the case," Rex Hefner, Okfuskee County jail administrator, told Newsok.com.
The entire ordeal did nothing more than add insult to injury for the victims' families.
The OSBI is offering a $30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murders of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Paschal-Placker. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OSBI hotline at 800-522-8017 or the Okfuskee County Sheriff's Office at 918-623-1122.

It was a tragic start to the holiday weekend. Two people are found murdered inside a vehicle in a rural part of Oklahoma County. This morning a male and female were found dead on Northeast 34th Street, between Wright Avenue and Timber. Authorities are piecing together the tragic events, and looking for those responsible. Just after 10 a.m. authorities find a white car which contains the bodies of a man and woman, both shot in the head.
"There was one person in the front or one person in the back," said Mark Myers, the Spokesperson of the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office. "Currently, our crime scene investigators will comb everything thoroughly to try and determine what evidence is in the car and around the car."
One neighbor said she saw the Chevy Impala parked and turned off in the north side brush earlier in the morning.

WELEETKA — One month after two girls were shot to death on a rural Okfuskee County road, investigators do not appear to be much closer to solving the crime than they were the day it happened.
No arrests have been made. No suspects have been identified. No motive has been determined. And a sketch of a mystery man who is listed as a "person of interest" has produced hundreds of leads but no notable results.
Stan Florence, an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation inspector, said authorities are still working hard to find the person or persons who killed 13-year-old Taylor Paschal-Placker and 11-year-old Skyla Whitaker on June 8.
"Unfortunately, there's nothing to report, but to date, we have 451 leads received, and we have given a number of polygraphs, including a polygraph (Monday). So this case is still very active and ongoing," Florence said.
Investigators believe there may be at least two shooters involved in the killings because each of the girls were shot with two different kinds of bullets.
Two weeks ago, OSBI officials decided to request a nationwide distribution of the information and sketch related to the girls' slaying in hopes of gathering information.

I wish they could just do an article a week about the girls or something about. But I guess there isn't much to say.

Sooner Magic's post
Thanks for the info. I had lunch today with an old friend from childhood.(It has been 15 yrs. since we last saw each other). He called me out of the blue and he is in LE.(I was shocked by that coincidence) He is familiar with the case. He shared a little bit more with me than what I had read about.
This is it in a quick condensed version:
-They think 1 shooter / 2 guns
-Girls were definitely shot exectution style
-Some DNA has been found but, results are not available yet.(That he knows of)
-Rain washed away a lot of potential evidence
-Canine did find some forensics / waiting for info from lab
-POI is (probably) on an Indian reservation and that has hindered the authorities from making progress in finding him. Something to do with juresdiction.
Can this be true?

I have to think maybe someone saw the girls walking on a lonely stretch of road and decided to snatch them.
Maybe when the perp (s) realize the stretch of road wasn't so lonely as first believed, he (they) heard a car approaching maybe...panicked and killed the girls.
If reports are correct that state the truck was partially blocking the road and view, the second perp could have been squatting down, thus invisible to the witnesses....Maybe even hiding the fact the girls were there and shot already.
Seems like over kill for a drug deal stumbled on or even a gay tryst seen....Unless it was someone they know, I can't explain the overkill....
IMO of course

We are all seeking answers to these murders and other murders and where missing people are, and there don't seem to be any answers.
I hope, when I die, I will know answers, answers to all the questions I've ever asked and answers to some I haven't even thought of. I want answers, that's all, answers...
Skyla and Taylor know the answers now...

I pray that LE has some leads and answers that they have not released to the public and that there will be closure for these two sweethearts very soon.
A crime like this, against two innocent baby girls, should NOT go unpunished. Taylor and Skyla deserve answers.

Father Breaks Silence About Weleetka Murders
Last Update: 10:02 pm
Print Story | Email Story
It’s been one month since the shocking discovery of the two little girls killed just down the road from their homes.
Now the community of Weleetka is struggling to come to terms with what happened and why no one has been arrested.
For the families of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Paschal-Placker not knowing who killed their little girls is upsetting and frustrating.
For the first time, Skyla’s Father breaks his silence to Fox 23’s Abbie Alford about the loss of his daughter and her friend Taylor.
As Skyla’s father William Whitaker walks down the dirt road, the same dirt road where Skyla and Taylor were killed, he feels something land on him,
"See it, it landed on me, it landed right here on my….” A butterfly lands on his heart. William says Skyla loved butterflies.
So to honor her, he’s wearing a memorial t-shirt so everyday both girls are remembered.
As he continues to walk, and this walk, as pretty as it is, is still a painful reminder the killer is out there.
"I can understand why they would walk here … It's beautiful."
But now the walk leads back to what life for this family used to be like when Skyla was still alive and vibrant.
William says the most painful part is at home, "I get up in the morning. I'll look over where she slept. All curled up in a sleeping bag part of the time where she would watch TV all night. She's not there, she's not there," says William.
As much pain as this father is in he knows he has to take steps forward to begin what is a long journey a head of him.
"The smallest step, that's something you have to do.” As he continues to take bigger steps William says, “I don't know if it's closer to finding an answer or if it's closer to mending my heart."

The cross with Skyla's name engraved in it. Someone wrote on it with a marker, something to the affect of- "you'll never catch me".
The article in the newspaper reads like they've took an item prior to taking the cross. Memorabilla was being left, IIRC, prior to them taking the dog there. And the fact that a dog was sniffing all the memorabilla left for the girls makes me wonder if the dog hit on something.
'Last Wednesday officials took a dog specially trained to sniff out items such as gunpowder and bullet casings out to the scene. Sadly, other than an item placed in memory of Skyla Whitaker, there are no new reports of leads in the case.'
The next paragraph talks about them putting a brown paper bag over the cross and taking it with them.

Ominous Warning Found at Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Paschal-Placker
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation [OSBI] is examining a cross that once stood at the roadside memorial for 11-year-old Skyla Jade Whitaker and 13-year-old Taylor Dawn Paschal-Placker, two young girls who were shot and killed in Weleetka last month.
According to an OSBI spokesperson, someone recently vandalized a cross that had Skyla's name on it and wrote, "You'll never catch me." Despite the warning, investigators have their doubts that the message was left by the person(s) responsible for the murders.
"I don't really think it is relevant to the case and more than likely its just some kids being kids," OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown said in a telephone interview with Investigation Discovery.
Despite their reluctance to take the message seriously, investigators are conducting forensic tests on the cross to determine if it contains any evidence that could be relevant to the case.
In regard to the current status of the investigation, Brown said:
"We are still running leads, interviewing people, polygraphing people [and] doing everything humanly possible. We have had more than 450 leads since the beginning of the investigation and we are in the process of running those down. We have more than half of that finished; it just takes time so we are going to continue doing that until it takes us to the killers."
Since the beginning of the investigation, there has been speculation about whether the two girls had been sexually assaulted prior to their death. Brown said that the OSBI has information pertaining to that but was unable to release it.
According to Brown, the case is solvable; investigators just need the right leads to come in and the right people to come forward with information.
"There are a lot of people that are scared to talk to law enforcement down there so they have to start doing that," Brown said. "It is going to be solved by law enforcement but law enforcement is going to have to have help from the public. Because it was such a remote area, everyone knows each other in that area. A person who would drive on this particular road would have to know how to get there. You or I wouldn't be able to get there. I have been there once but I guarantee you I couldn't get there again. Someone knows something [and] it is a matter of them coming forward and then we can build our case."
On Wednesday, Skyla's father broke his silence and spoke about the murders during an interview with FOX23.com.
While walking down the same road where the girl's were killed, William said that he is constantly reminded of his daughter death, especially in his own home.
"I get up in the morning. I'll look over where she slept. All curled up in a sleeping bag part of the time where she would watch TV all night. She's not there, she's not there," William said.
While he remains thankful for the community support he has received, William is also mindful that there is nothing anyone can do to take away his pain.
"The only thing I want or need I can't ever have," he said, adding, "Those babies didn't do anything to anybody."
The bodies of 11-year-old Skyla Jade Whitaker and 13-year-old Taylor Dawn Paschal-Placker were discovered on the evening of June 8, in a ditch along County Line Road in Weleetka, Oklahoma. Autopsies on the victims revealed that the girls had been shot in the head and chest. Investigators have yet to clarify how many times each girl was shot and will not comment on whether DNA evidence was found on their bodies.
Investigators are continuing their search for a "person of interest" who may have information about the slayings. The person of interest is described as an American Indian male, approximately 35-years-old and about 6-feet-tall, with dark hair and a ponytail. Witnesses said the man was standing near the crime scene, next to a white single cab pickup with an Oklahoma license tag.
The OSBI is offering a reward in excess of $30,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murders. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OSBI hotline at 800-522-8017 or the Okfuskee County Sheriff's Office at 918-623-1122.

Dreams are strange things. Night before last I dreamt several bones fell out of the bottom of my left foot and that I had to drag what was left of my foot around. The next day news of a great disappointment arrived. The dream is over, but I'm still dragging the disappointment around.
Maybe the bleeding skunk is the killer having been injured or shot. Or maybe it's the skunk (murderer) and the trail of blood that will lead the LE to him.

Actually, CTVreader, Roy came up with a place in the Canadian River bottoms called Skunk or Skunkstead where a guy had been sprayed in the face by a skunk many years ago. I asked him if there was a house down there where killers could hide. He said there was an old house there. All the things he had to say about the place were really interesting. I think he is probably full of wonderful (though somewhat graphic and gross) stories.
The skunk wasn't in a dream. It came while I was meditating. However, Awakening2lite, I really liked your interpretations of what it might mean. Some of the things I get are as cryptic as dreams, so dream interpretation might be a good way to look at it. I'm sorry about your disappointment!

I think dreams and visions have a close association.
I was also thinking the white strip down the back of the black body of a skunk is similar to the white strips on an interstate highway. Blood might mean something colored red on the interstate or there may be dna evidence on or close to the interstate highway.
My disappointment will pass, with time.

Taunting note scrawled on cross at slain Weleetka girls' memorial
By MATT BARNARD World Staff Writer
Last Modified: 7/16/2008 9:57 PM
A message scrawled on a cross at a roadside memorial for two slain girls was likely written by pranksters and isn’t being treated as a serious lead, an official said.
A vandal wrote “something to the effect of ‘you’ll never catch me,’ ” Jessica Brown, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, said Wednesday.
The cross was one of several at the makeshift memorial for Skyla Jade Whitaker, 11, and Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13, who were both shot several times as they walked down a rural road about three miles northwest of Weleetka.
“We believe kids did it, vandalized it to get attention, which is exactly what happened,” Brown said.
Investigators seized the cross but aren’t pursuing the message as a legitimate lead, she said.
Flowers, balloons and stuffed animals mark the spot where the girls were killed June 8. Since then, there have been no arrests, suspects or motive.
Even fingerprints on the cross wouldn’t be useful to investigators, Brown said. “Hundreds of people have probably touched it, so I don’t know that anything can be done with it,” she said.
The OSBI followed hundreds of leads after releasing a sketch of a “person of interest” in June, but none led to a suspect.
Although investigators are focused on finding a killer rather than the defaced memorial, the vandalism is disheartening, Brown said.
“It’s a sad state of affairs when someone is going to deface a cross representing children who were killed,” she said.

Weleetka Memorial Vandalized
7/17/2008
(Weleetka, OK) -- A message left scrawled across one of the crosses marking the site where two Weleetka girls were gunned down has caught the attention of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Spokesperson Jessica Brown declined to give exact details of the message, saying only, quote, "It said something to the effect of 'You'll never catch me.'" The message was left one month after the bodies of eleven-year-old Skyla Whitaker and 13-year-old Taylor Paschal-Placker were found along a rural Okfuskee County road, just a few hundred yards from Taylor's home. Brown says the message is likely insignificant to their investigation into the murders, which is still ongoing.

New Info In Weleetka Murders
Updated: July 18, 2008 02:07 PM CDT
Authorities have scheduled a Monday morning news conference concerning the murder of two girls just outside of Weleetka in early June.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says new information concerning the case in the deaths of 11-year old Skyla Whitaker and 13-year old Taylor Placker will be released at that time.
Officials say they also plan to release an excerpt of a 911 call made by a family member of one of the girls' moments after they were discovered along a county road.
The girls' deaths occurred on June 8.
Thus far, OSBI agents, Okfuskee County District Attorney's Investigators, U.S. Marshalls, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and many other law enforcement personnel have run more than 500 leads in this case.
The news conference will be held Monday morning in front of the Okfuskee County Courthouse.

If this does have to do with Byrd, or any other POI, I can't imagine why they would announce on Friday that they will hold a news conference on Monday unless they are planning to use the weekend to bring charges, etc.
Please let this be the answer whether it is Byrd or someone else, just please let the monster who murdered these babies be brought to justice.

Just thinking out loud:
Would they be releasing an excerpt of the 911 call if they were close to making an arrest (namely Byrd)? It appears to me that there is something on that 911, possibly something PP saw or said that they want to release to encourage someone to come forward.
I wonder if they have the crimescene DNA results back yet.
In addition, they may have fingerprints on the casings and possibly even touch DNA. It is my understanding that those type of tests are done within minutes so they would have been able to compare to Byrd's rather quickly. I read he had been released on bond.

I have been asking about the Keloughs. There are several Keloughs who live in the area. Some of them have records. There is a guy named Dillon Harris. He is also a relative of the Keloughs through his mother. Dillon Harris has a record of assault with a dangerous weapon. I understand from someone who knows that he is always in trouble.
Dillon Harris is a redhead. (I had picked up on a redhead.) I understand there may be a Brian/Bryan Kelough. I'm trying to find out if there is , because I picked up on the name Brian.
Okay, here's the stretch! I had also picked up on the name Lazarus. Last night, something occurred to me that gave me a chill. Remember Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris? Enter Dillon Harris, a kind of resurrection of those two names. (I told you it was a stretch!)
Anyway, one of the Keloughs and her son were some of the witnesses that heard the shots.
A lady named Elizabeth posted this on Topix, and I thought you might be interested in reading it. Her post is at the top of the page.

Hi Harmony,
The release of the 911 call has my interest, too. But, I was coming from the opposite direction. I wondered if it is to satisfy the public curiosity and provide LE some offering for the news conference. It certainly is getting top billing as far as what we can expect to have revealed. If it is, in any way, part of the case my thinking is it would be kept sealed for court.
Can't find anything about how long it takes to run the dna from touch samples.

Another poster who is masquerading as Sam, but is not Sam, is saying the witness withdrew the statement about the POI.

I seem to recall something about his call coming 20 minutes after he found the girls... is that right? I have a horrible memory, so I sure could be wrong, but I remember hearing it & wondering why so long. Maybe he ran home first and told his wife & she called, he went back to the girls, remembered Taylor's cell & called them from there too? - Or called his wife & told her to call 911? Then he remembered the phone & decided to call too? I could see him finding the girls & then running home, but then again, would he want to leave them lying there alone? If it was my son (God forbid), I wouldn't be able to leave him.

So is the woman we're hearing on the 911 call, Taylor's grandmother or Skyla's grandmother? She kept going back and forth between granddaughter/daughter, so I just assumed it was Taylor's grandmother. This is all so very confusing.
I find it extremely odd that it was reported that the Plackers were home but didn't hear the gun shots, now we're finding out that they weren't even home.

Is it her daughter or her granddaughter?

So is the woman we're hearing on the 911 call, Taylor's grandmother or Skyla's grandmother? She kept going back and forth between granddaughter/daughter, so I just assumed it was Taylor's grandmother. This is all so very confusing.
I find it extremely odd that it was reported that the Plackers were home but didn't hear the gun shots, now we're finding out that they weren't even home.

Does anyone remember the link that included Jessica Brown of the OSBI talking about the wind blowing the sound away from the house, and possibly the TV running and the A/C running and that being the reason the Plackers didn't hear the shots?
Why would she go into all that if they weren't even home?:waitasec:

I just got here and I'm missing something. Who said that they weren't home?

I definitely recall hearing that about the wind, etc., but the way I recall it is as a reason people didn't hear the shots, not the Plackers in particular.
But it's been so long...my memory is fading on some facts of this case.

Thanks for replying. I was beginning to think I was invisible. Posting on several threads and no one replying. :girl_sad:

Grande, I just saw your post at that other site. You said the Weleetka students were known as Outlaws. That kind of freaked me out, because of my June 30 post.
6-30-2008
I think these guys fancy themselves as some kind of young guns, outlaws. I get an olde tyme image of them. One (the redhead) sitting next to a table with his ankle resting on his knee, a rifle across his lap. The other is standing, like Billy the Kid, with his rifle standing by his side. He has a Dick Cheney snarl on his face. They know they have gone past the point of no return and have become legends in their own minds. That image is so clear. If it is not an intuitive image, then my imagination has gone haywire.
I believe they didn't use rifles for this crime, but this is how they picture themselves.
Columbo said, "Check all the outlaws...you'll find at least one of them..."
This is so strange!

Hmmm. That's not "official" though, is it? Just what a poster claims she heard......

Faith, a couple of new things! I was trying again this morning. Unfortunately I got very sleepy. First I got Caylee blowing kisses. She does it an odd way. She kisses her fist, then opens her hand, fingers outspread, and releases the kisses upward.
I got the word rialto. I got a number like 22906 or 2290something. I'm not sure what the last number is. If it's a zip code, it's around Charlottesville, VA. I really don't know if these last 2 things have to do with Caylee or not.

:girl_haha: Thanks! Funny you should say that. I just cut them that thick about a month ago, I was all nervous about doing it, but I really, really wanted them, so I did. I love them now!

Hi Savannah (love that name)!
Yes you are correct. A poster claims she has a credible source in Waleetka. Her source appears to be in law enforcement. It is another layer of info that we can ponder or totally discard since it is not official and she stipulates that in her posts. (IMO the poster is very astute and credible.)

Listen and right after the ring at the 4:20-21 time stamp you can hear a small child (it sounds like a boy to me) saying "He thinks they're dead." Then she yells "What?....What?"
Who is that small child?
