A friend of the family is distraught. Neighbors realized something was wrong when a window was left wide open, despite the freezing temperatures.
Cops found a 6-year-old girl and her mother stabbed to death in their Bronx home this morning and are questioning the woman's boyfriend, a police source said.
Neighbors said they last saw the mother and child shortly after midnight Monday.
"We kept calling and calling and calling," Simsky Harrison, 23, said. "We banged on the door and kicked it."
Police did not immediately release the names of the mother and daughter.
Harrison said she and other residents were accustomed to seeing the 25-year-old mother and her daughter around the Furman Ave. building. Today, they noticed the window was open and the curtains were flapping despite the freezing weather.
